  1. 550 hp in a Smart. Now we’re going somewhere... https://youtu.be/8Mv7zLhtN68
  2. Roger, do you really want us to answer that question?
  3. If you can embrace the technology of the new engines, hot rodding has gone to the next level.
  4. This is actually a K-series Honda engine going into it. When it's done, it will probably be in the 600-700 hp range.
  5. Sux. I did manage to get most of the Cab-Cam system installed in my truck. Now all I need to do is make a mount for the camera on the hitch.
  6. It's with a heavy heart that I tell you we cancelled our reservation at Deer Run. We were able to put our deposit to next year's rally (2021). Right now we are toying with the idea of saving our vacation time and go to the national rally in Hutchinson in October.

  8. Since we are laying low for the Wuhan Flu hysteria, I decided to start some of the projects I wanted to do this spring. Today's project was to install my new chrome shore power plugs. One for the block heater the other for the cab 110v. My originals were a mess. Very rusty and ugly. First one for the engine block heater. While I had the battery box out and everything open, I took the time to remove the master cutoff switch and clean the terminals and wire ends. They weren't real dirty, but a little corroded on the wine ends. If you look closely in this photo just to the left of the master switch is a ground lug attached to the frame. The wires and the lug itself was very corroded and nasty looking. I took this all apart and cleaned and greased this entire assembly too. Both installed and looking good. After all of this, the lights inside the cab of the truck seem to be twice as bright and the starter spins the motor over much, much better. I hope this has killed a couple of the little nagging electrical gremlins we have had with this truck.
  9. We really want to go. We're on the fence whether we will be ABLE to go, not if we want to. With all the draconian lock downs of our rights we don't know if we will have the proper "PAPERS" to travel any more...
  10. I put Firestones on my HDT on the recommendation of a local big truck operator that I trust. They were good price and well supported. For the amount of miles I will put on the truck, high dollar name brand tires (Michelin) make no sense to me at all. I also followed his recommendation when I converted to 17.5 tires on our trailer. Ours are Chinese imports, but again, I'm not putting 100's of thousands of commercial miles on them. For the cost, I'm willing to take the quality I have.
  11. As of this writing, we are still excited to come to TN to visit with our friends. Until interstate freedom of travel is infringed upon, that it. Since this has become an unofficial rally, shall we consider doing a few unofficial unorganized activities? We'd like to tour the area a little and we're considering renting a car while there to do this. (Our Golf cart will not really work well for this activity). Is anyone game to caravan around the neighborhood to "see the sights"? How about a project day(or three)? I have a camera system that still isn't mounted and an inverter/charger to put in the truck. I'd love to have some supervisors tell me what I'm doing wrong...
  12. We are still going to make the trip. We may need to plan some more activities. Possibly rent a car to tour the area more...
  13. I'm not sure about Facebook. Were you asking about wheelbase? Mine is the one in my signature photo.
  14. Mine is a very simple low budget affair. You're more than welcome to look, crawl around or under it and ask all the questions you want. If the timing's right we can go for a joy-ride...
  15. I just cleaned up the rusty paint stains around the holes and left them. Anything more than 5' away and you don't see them. Someday when I paint my passenger door, I'll fiberglass them in and paint the area.
  16. I was very glad to read this. Walking away was your best option on that particular truck. There are a lot of non-smoking trucks out there. Ours was a non-smoker and we have had zero water issues. That truck had problems written all over it. Keep looking, you'll find something. (I and some others on this site had real good luck with RDO in Fargo ND. Ask for John.)
  17. My camera system is the actual "Cab-Cam" brand unit. It does not record as I have it configured. It may be possible, but this isn't a feature I wanted. Mine has is a screen capable of up to 4 cameras. I currently have two (2), one showing the hitch and one to be mounted on the back of our trailer. These are wired cameras. I am hoping to get this system installed prior to leaving for the ECR (weather permitting).
  18. Why such a glum outlook on this. Kim and Rolando were (are) great people and served the ECR well. The new owners may be even better...
  19. Sounds like some of the same projects I'll be working on as soon as the weather warms a bit. inverter-charger cab-cam system chassis lube and oil change inspect trailer bearings, too...

    Batteries

What is everyone getting for a lifespan on your truck starting batteries?
  21. Carl - How about a "share your binder" gathering at the ECR?
