WOW, I never said we had concerns about passing the written or road test in Texas.  I know we are more anal than most, but driving your own vehicle to take the test is driving illegally.  IF you get into an accident, you COULD have insurance issues. Many people don’t worry about it and just go ahead and drive to take the road test.
On the topic of getting a LLC in Montana…I was told by an RV Dealer that doing that would solve the issue of having to get a Class B Non CDL.  I’m not sure that is an avenue we wish to take for several reasons,  but obviously we would need to research that further.

    I hope I didn’t offend anyone.

I know in MD in taking the motorcycle road test. You need to trailer the bike up or have another rider with you that meets the requirements of the state driving on the learners. People have not been able to take the test because they took it off the trailer and then went in. It needs to be seen by the instructor you removing the bike or ask for the guys license in who accompanied you to make sure that you got there legally. Once with the instructor those requirements did not matter. So I understand what your talking about.

Thanks to all who replied.  To us the thought of getting an LLC for the purpose of avoiding sales tax and also to avoid having to get the Class B non CDL license in Texas  just doesn’t feel right.  At this point our big frustration is the drivers license that makes it next to impossible to accomplish legally.  Somehow the laws in Texas are screwed up!

I choose SD as my domicile. The people at the MVA are super helpful and friendly, nothing I had ever experienced at a MVA. I’m pretty sure also if you have paid sales tax to another state for what you are registering, you would not need to pay the sales tax to register it. That is assuming that you paid at least 4% sales tax previously. There are no yearly inspections, insurance rates are low also. I say this as a full timer as I had to choose a domicile. I felt that SD was the best choice for me.

I agree with you that the laws in TX are screwed up.

Kirk, your link brought me right back here.

My understanding is, if you start an LLC to buy an RV, the company then owns that RV which then becomes a commercial vehicle with all kinds of implications.

Hopefully, Kirk will fix his link so you can get a more informed answer than mine since we all know how well my memory is working nowadays. :(

I was commenting on a post on the first page. It was discussed more on the second page. Can’t delete, so I made this edit.

Oh I can see hybirds. Just not evs. In a perfect world where everyone works 30 miles from home, grocery store around the corner but construction workers go to the job wherever it is being built. And power plants pollute. Just trading one evil for another.

But a lot of power companies are building cleaner electricity. Like Nuclear, Solar, Wind, Geo Thermal and even Tidal.
But until we stop burning coal, I agree that we are trading one evil for another.

It's unfortunate that when a park fails to honor Escapees... or any organization .... that they don't contact Escapees saying that's their new policy.  I can't imagine Escapees having to contact every one of the parks in their directory to see if they're still being honored..... and how long would it last before having to contact all of the parks again to update.  I think it's the park's responsibility.  If, by chance, the parks do this then yes, Escapees is dropping the ball by not taking the park out of their directory.

I would think they would have to honor it. They are listed as a discount CG. They should honor it then call SKP and change it or be removed from the program.

Many cars are beginning to offer dash cams built in. I had add-on dash cams in my last two cars. Our Tesla Model Y has dash cams, cabin cam, backup cam, and sentry mode, built in standard. It uses all its cams 360° around. My back up camera shows the left and right views under the main straight back view.

I set up a 128GB Flash drive for it and have it set for saving on my honking the horn. :

Here are add-on dashcams etc reviewed a month ago:

Nice. Does it record so many seconds before you hit your horn also when activated?

It seems all there is now is the online version and it’s pretty much hit or miss.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one having issues. Are you reporting the invalid information to SKPs?  I think I have reported 3 or 4 of them.

I have called several campgrounds and inquired about an Escapees discount and been informed that it is no longer available. However my directory is dated 2016 and have been told by Escapees that there is not an updated version, only available online now. I just made a reservation for Sept and the campgrounds Web Site indicates an Escapees discount which the campground informed me when I called them will be applied when I arrive and check in.

I only check it online. For that very reason to have the most updated list.

  9. SKPs has a discount directory of campgrounds 15-50% off. I have only tried a few of them, but they are either no longer there or they say that there is not a SKP discount. Each time I write the main office to notify them of this. Has anyone had good success with these campgrounds listed in the directory?

That may sound simple, but the Chevy towing specs aren't written by real world users, they're written by marketing people. They only care about selling trucks, not white knuckles and pucker factors. Jay

What? The specs are made by the engineers not the marketing people. If this were the case every pick up could tow a million pounds.

Huh? Noooo they want to get that $10k for FSD so for owners they make the distinctions and differences very clear because they want us to want it. Hey guy go take one for a test drive when it isn't a rising pandemic infection rate. They will "sell" the FSD. It is offered with a new car at a discount of a thousand to several depending, and the sales guys make a point of letting you know it will cost more later. And it did.

Ryno I thought you were into the EVs since you own/ed some Nio stock. In just a few seconds I typed in "does the FSD go with a Tesla when sold."

When you sell a Tesla does FSD stay with the car?

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/when-you-sell-a-tesla-does-fsd-stay-with-the-car.230519/#:~:text=FSD goes with the car. if you sell,to you at that point%2C so its immaterial.

Here is an article about a Doc who owns Tesla and has a new one on order now. So he bought a Mercedes and well, you will see that he won't listen to just reviewers again and why:

Shhhh, The Auto Industry Doesn’t Want You To Know About Tesla Model S Autopilot vs. Mercedes S-Class Distronic

Yes I love EVs. I’m invested in a couple and a lidar company. I drove my friends model S. I was surprised how loud it was.

Maybe we use motorcycles in lieu of watching the boob tube ?

It just seemed to me that Noteven was trying to make a joke or take a poke at my post. Maybe they just say in a lot of threads, “I have a motorcycle”  trying to change the topic or be funny? Maybe I should say I breathe air after comments like that. 🤣🤣🤣

    Wow, read the linked article.

I thought camera's and radar were standard on all "self-driving" cars!!!!  Tesla, depends on camera's ONLY for their auto-pilot feature.

Good interview.  Worth reading.  I guess we need more reporting with facts on "self-driving" cars and less shuck and jive.

Correct and in inclement conditions that can be an issue. This is where Lidar comes in.

    Hey guys,

Ryno, it just came up in Kirk's thread about Nio are you still holding it? I sure wish I had listened to your advice to buy it and hold it. I discounted it because it was like 2 or 4 bucks a share. While I am looking at the new Chinese brands I posted about last, XPENG seems the most likely to climb. But I am holding off a bit there too. It is selling about the same price as Nio give or take. It has been stagnant at ~$40-42 for about 8 months now. I believe they will all rise in the next few months, Tesla, Nio, and Xpeng.

    What do you guys think?

I’m also in LI. But I think NIO is the best. Battery exchanges instead of sitting and waiting to charge and you can lease the battery lowering the cost of the car. Plus NIO is becoming a lifestyle. There service is top notch. If it gets to $38-$39 I’m buying a crap load more. BABA is also a smoking buy right now.
