Yes, this is my home base.  We stay here about 7 - 8 months out of the year and travel during the summer.  Renters are always very welcome here.  They have full use of all of the amenities and activities.   In fact, most who purchase a lot here start out as renters.  The only event where renters are excluded is the annual HOA meeting where proposed rule changes are voted on and the election of the board.

Thanks again for the feedback. Happy New Year!

I believe that the co-op where I live meets your requirements.  The only exception is the pickle ball and there is a court at the city park 2 blocks away.  Due to the fact that more park models go in every year, the number of vacant lots available to rent is going down.   We have also had some very large increases in utility fees and taxes.  In spite of this, rents are currently in $700 to $800 range (prices are set by the individual lot owners).   Most lots are rented a year in advance so it is probably too late to find something for this winter.

Have you stayed there? I ask because I have stayed at places owned by owners and they looked down at renters at on place I stayed at. Like I was a second class citizen.

If you want reasonable rates (1000/mo or less last year) then you are looking at parks north of Orlando/I4, there are several big parks around Chiefland, one near Archer. I Others down US 19 south of Chiefland. Many parks in the Ocala National Forest east of Ocala. There is a very highly reviewed campground called Rock Crusher Springs, west of Ocala. Near Crystal River IIRC. We've driven past but never stopped in. The Village south of Ocala is a pickelball hotspot. No beach swimming along the west coast until south of Tarpon Springs. With a few small local spots the exception. Lots of major springs tho.

The weather won't be swimming weather tho for much of the winter, not by Floridian standards. But much warmer than up North. It has like the rest of the country been record cold here, lows in the 20's or even below for almost a week. Most winters, spring arrives in February tho.

I'm sure there are many along US 1 but the will be more expensive. Rule of thumb, price goes up nearer real beaches and the further south you get of Orlando. Well above 2000 a month.

    Thanks.

This is for next year. I’m wintering at the SKP Plantation now. Thanks for the feedback and I will look into it.

I don't know about any parks in South Florida. But you should be aware that many are at least partially booked by the folks already in them. And be ready for price shock.

I have seen some crazy prices and I’m aware that some are booked from people that have been displaced as well as people that are return snowbirds. This is why I asked the question. Thanks for your feedback.

  6. I’m trying to research a place for next Winter in mid to Southern Florida to spend at least 3 months for a reasonable rate. I would prefer a 55+ park that has a pool, hot tub, pickleball quarts and activities like cards and Bingo. I have a 40’ 5ver. I would even rent from an owner as I have come across communities like that across the country. Feel free to post it up or message me if you want to tell me about a hidden unknown gem.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

As a member of the Florida SKP Co-Op, I will pass your question on to Skip P. who handles reservations who may be able to come here to explain.

I remember only one instance in the past 7 years where the unexpected return of a medical-challenged Co-op member to his already-rented-for-the-season site caused an issue.  In that case, the renters stayed on the site they were expecting to be on for the season, the returning "ill" member went onto another member's site which had been vacated by a caring member who moved his RV into an area not usually used for RVs so that the "ill" member had a full hook up site to use.  This is an example of our Sharing and Caring philosophy.  So the renters stayed where they were, a caring member volunteered to move from his site to another area without full hook ups so the "ill" member could use his full hook up site.

As Skip P. has explained to me, nowadays usually a site or two are "held" for emergency situations such as this so no one is displaced.

You can call the office and ask for a call back from Skip P. who can answer your concerns.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Florida SKP Resort.

    Thanks for the reply.

  8. On there website it states that owners can comeback with 8 days notice to claim the lot you are renting. There was a review saying that they had to move a couple of times. Do they leave spots open incase owners want to come back? Just seems very strange to me. If you put your lot in the pool to be rented and it gets booked that owners can change their mind with 8 days notice. If the park is booked, you would find yourself homeless. I looked at their site map and do not clearly see the few lake sites as they seemed to by owned by the park, so you don’t have the risk of being kicked out of that site. Thanks for any thoughts, experiences and words of wisdom.

The screen shot file was to large, but if you scroll down to the bottom of this link it will state this.

OK Verizon signal is weak, we have one but I have the WeBoost RV and had to put the antenna up 20 ft or so. People are hanging around the laundry trying to get a signal according to my wife. Have not run a signal test yet.

They have a big clubhouse and have activities there, line dancing every morning, Octoberfest tomorrow, And other things I'm sure. It's a nice park except for the cell signal. WIFI is pay extra.

Hey can you send me a private message? Wanted to know which Weboost system your running and your feedback. I’ve thought about getting one for the past few years, but always been in places that had a good signal.

I have only an ordinary ATT phone, no ATT-enabled router or hotspot. Last year the office folks told us that a hurricane had taken out the wifi; I'm not aware of anything changing and no one mentioned it to me in the office a couple of days ago. Best call and ask.

    How is your AT&T signal?

Is your WeBoost helping the signal? How is the pay wifi there?
    Thanks.

I'm at Rainbow Plantation for the second winter.

Verizon is turning 15-20Mbps on my Pepwave, ATT on my phone is ok. Agesilaus lock onto Verizon band 4; right now it's 18.84Mbps. The bands which have a stronger signal are horrible because everyone's devices go on them. DW's Verizon phone says -116dBm, which is marginally usable for Facebook etc.

There's lots of things going on in the clubhouse, just getting started with very active stuff.

What kind of Mbps are you getting on your AT&T? I ask because I have an AT&T hotspot. It looks like you can pay for wifi there also. For the people that are, are they getting good bandwidth? Do people post up what games are played and when? My experience with other SKP parks is that they play the same games on a certain day and time. Usually there is a schedule showing this. Or is it more like the same group of people just get together when they want?
    thanks for the feedback.

  13. I’m looking at coming to this park for a couple of months this Winter. I’ve read reviews which seem to be VERY mixed.
is there over the air tv, using your antenna? How is the Verizon and AT&T cell signal? At most SKP parks they tend to have games going on at the clubhouse everyday. Does this one have the activities? Like cards and other games. Is there a schedule of the activities?
    Thanks for the feedback.

    We've never found a park like that^ .

I personally have not either, but people have stated that they have. But sometimes it is also better to ask for forgiveness then permission. And they way I have it set up, you would never know that I even have it.

I'm trying to figure out how to do something like that without too much changing of things - my 50-amp cord connects to the trailer on the outside rather than inside a bay.

Then put a plug before the transfer switch or before the wires get to the panel.

Yes that is correct my phone is unlocked and you know why because it is a $%^&ing phone.  I say hello and I say goodbye on it.  I am not married to this bitch it does not follow me around, it is not on my night stand when I go to sleep at night, I don't check it every 30 seconds to see if the world is still here.  I don't use it's maps to figure out where I am going.  I had a flip phone for 15 years but the battery keep falling out.  I had hoped to wait until 7 G came out but being 72 I did not figure I would live that long so I went for the 5 G.  There is nothing on my phone that someone could gain access to that I would not tell them if they asked.  So yes I would prefer not to be required to punch in a 6 digit code to use a device I paid over $800 for just because some other dip !@#$ programs their life into a $%^&ing phone.

    Dennis

PS:  That was fun to wright.

Well if you just use it as a #*@=ing phone, why update it? It’s just a thing that you make calls with.
for some reason you seem like an angry person. Sounds like you need to visit a beautiful area that has no cell coverage. And by the sounds of it, you should take that trip with out your wife. I hope that you find a better view on life after that trip.

No I do not believe so.  After installing you have to go through a whole new set up your phone.  Before when it asked you to create a passcode you could select other options and select not to use a passcode.  it will no longer offer you the option of selecting not to use a passcode.

    Dennis

So I guess your saying that your phone is unlocked, that anybody could just pick it up and use it and gain access to your information and apps? If that is the case they might force you to password protect your phone.
