  1. No sure you right about the Mobile Suites there CE. DRV builds on a tripple box frame the same as Carriage did. No I-Beam, and Lippert does build the DRV frame.
  2. I included everything that we have spent living on the road. Averaged over the 3 years we have been doing so. So this year was truck tires, last year was more tires, year before was buying all the things we needed- thought we did, and found out we did-, etc. Lump it all together and throw it out there.
  3. We're moving to Birmingham Alabama for 2 weeks. Any decent parks in the southern area? State or private world be great!
  4. It's the HDT version of ADHD.... Squirrel....
  5. We are currently in Twin Lakes Resort (use the word Resort carefully) Chocowinity NC. Its on Hwy 17s, just south of Hwy 264 in eastern NC. There are sites that are HDT accessible. I'll add this to the Campground list. Near Greenville NC, Washington NC- right across the river, Bath NC, New Bern, all towns with mucho history!
  6. Yes, be prepared for other dogs running around off leash. We stayed at a park recently where our neighbors had 3 little dogs. 2 of them were aggressive towards our lab, and were not kept on a leash. They kept apologizing for their dog running up and snipping at Sallie (our lab), I finally told them to put their dog on a %$#@ leash, or face the consequences.. they got the message when Sallie caught and shook one of precious miniature yappers. Sallie dropped it on command and we went on our way. We use one of the retractable leashes. Whenever other pets are near, 20-25', Sallie is always on a short leash. I've been told by probably hundreds of pet owners that their dog won't bite..... that's ok but mine will when provoked.
  7. We have a 85lb lab that lives with us... Pro's- not nearly as noisy as the smaller breeds Con's- Most decent campgrounds require you to pick up after your pet, big dog= big poo
  8. That ring and pinion looks a little heavier than the last 9" swap I did! Nice work!
  9. Moved to Chickasa Ok because we're a glutton for punishment.... Tornado Alley in the summer time! Beats Little Rock though...
  10. Short drive today to River Plantation RV Resort in Sevierville Tn. Had a few delays on I-40 due to the continuing bridge work, but otherwise uneventful. The campground is HDT friendly, but the sites are a little short, we have maybe 10' to spare in this pull thru site. But they do have a parking area for the trucks we could use if necessary. There is another red Volvo about 2 sites from us that I don't recognize, maybe we'll met them tomorrow.
  11. Jack, the way in and out is good. Access is off of 459 at exit 10, Hwy 150. The way is well marked, tree branches are above the 14' mark. It is an asphalt parking lot. But I found it to be extremely easy to navigate. The sites are set up so that 1 island of utility hook-ups services 2 rigs. It's well lit at night as we found out. Your solar panels should charge well overnight!
  12. We are in Birmingham Al for the night. Staying at Hoover RV park which is the RV parking lot for Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. $31.72 full hook-ups, all asphalt, but areas for dogs to go. Not much "It" factor but easy to get to, very easy access and spacing.
  13. Jack, is the Truma H2O the same as the unit that Howard and Linda used? I remember reading that it was a German based company that interested in the US market.
  14. Sandersville MS.... gravel parking lot for awhile... Can't wait for the mosquitoes to start...
  15. Moved from Edinburg Tx to a little city park in Welsh LA. Nice little 495 mile haul today. Moving on to Laurel MS tomorrow for a little while.
  16. When matching a tow vehicle and trailer its important to look at the frontal area of the trailer. The bigger the area, the more effort it takes to pull it down the road. With the Dodge diesel I had, I could pull a flatbed trailer up to 14-15000lbs with little drop in fuel mileage, 16-18mpg, but a tall load or a 5'th wheel RV weighing the same 14-15k that was have to move alot of air got 10-12mpg. The tow rating of the vehicle is important to follow, but the vehicle and trailer that allowed that particular tow rating is also very important to consider.
  17. Sure, let me check with the official calendar keeper and I'll let you know!
  18. Edinburg Tx for the next 10 days. Finally in some sunshine!
  19. Too late for what? Most everyone here has a signature line of what they RV in. What's yours? You seem to jump on the forum, throw out a few berating comments about other forum members and then run? So I'm labeling you- The wanna be TROLL This discussion has been going along with people discussing their issue's with RV frames. Lippert is the #1 builder of RV trailer frames of all sizes, makes, price ranges, and models. It's simply being stated that if you buy a RV that has a Lippert frame, take care of it. Do your inspections regularly to find any issues. It's also been pointed out that if given the design that Lippert will build a decent frame, aka DRV, which I haven't heard of any failures of in their frames. The video was posted by a member showing Lippert parts being incorporated into a custom-built in-house frame. The owner of that video made a comment about it. So what gives??? You jealous of others having a nice coach? You have issues with people that try to share knowledge of how to build a better product?
  20. I would say that the reason there haven't been any lawsuits is that the RV manufacturer fixes the issue, and if lippert can prove you were overweight then the warranty is void.
  21. Lippert is an assembler of pieces that the RV manufacturer's specifies. They don't seem to engineer anything, or check for any engineering issues in a design. They build exactly what is proposed, nothing more and sometimes less. The other thing to remember about Lippert, is that they buy small companies with great products and remarket them under the Lippert name. Usually with a decline of quality and lack of customer service.
