  1. I forgot to mention, the desktop was a clean install, while the laptop was upgraded from Windows 10. I did not experience any problems with either machine. Safe Travels...
  2. The non-supported computer is desktop that I built back in 2012. It has a quad core third generation Core I5 at 3.4GHz, 16GB Ram, a 512GB SSD with Windows 10, and two hard drives for data storage. I primarily use it for video editing. What makes this machine great as a test bed is that one of the hard drives is in a tray-less disk caddie. I can quickly swap that hard disk with another containing a different operating system. A simple key press at boot time allows me to select which drive to boot from. The supported computer is an Acer laptop with an 8th generation Core I3 at 2.2GHz, 8GB Ram, 512GB NVMe SSD, and a 1TB hard drive. Both computers have Windows 11 Education installed (senior citizens in Florida can attend state universities tuition free making us eligible for all kinds of free / low cost software). So far I have not noticed any obvious differences between them. I have made a couple of simple GUI tweaks on the laptop while the desktop is completely stock. I'll report if anything changes in the future. Safe Travels...
  3. I have installed Windows 11 on two of my computers. One meets all of the requirements and the other does not (older CPU and no TPM). That way I can see how Win 11 behaves in both scenarios. Neither of these are production machines, simply test beds so I can remain current. So far I have not found a compelling reason to upgrade so most of my computers will continue to run Linux and Windows 10. Safe Travels...
  4. We built a rack out of square aluminum tubes designed for pool enclosures. It extended from side to side just a few inches above the roof line. It was attached on the sides just above the rain gutter and weather sealed with caulking. We never had a problem with water getting into the rig. I was able to mount three 120 watt panels which could either lay flat or be tilted. I could probably have mounted a fourth if I did not intend to tilt the panels. We had the fifth wheel for 12 years and it was not until after we downsized that I realized I never took any photos of that mount. Safe Travels...
  5. Our lot had a concrete slab and a 10x10 storage shed, nothing else. Safe Travels...
  6. We ran into a similar situation when we bought our first lot. No luck with any of the big banks, so we applied with a small bank in the community where we were purchasing. The loan was approved in a couple of hours. As for insurance, we had our full timer policy on the 5th wheel, but no additional coverage for the lot. Later when we put a park model on the lot, we obtained a regular home owners policy. Safe Travels...
  7. I guess I am the exception to this. Every time I move I update my location using the Amateur Position Reporting System (APRS). I guess I am not worried about potential theft because I have little cash on hand. I prefer precious metals such as brass and lead Safe Travels...
  8. While setting up the Nanostation the default address is 192.168.1.20. You would configure your ethernet adapter to have a manual ip address such as 192.168.1.21 and the gateway as 192.168.1.20. You should then be able to connect to the Nanostation and configure it with the permanent settings, such as 192.168.2.1. You would then re-configure your ethernet to use DHCP. To change these settings on Windows 10 version 21H2 you can left click on the network icon near the clock in the task bar. Click on "Network & Internet settings". Click on "Ethernet" in the left panel, then "Ethernet" in the right panel. Under "IP Settings" click the edit button. Under IP Settings choose "Manual" from the drop down menu. Change the IP address and gateway then press the "Save" button. After you have finished configuring the Nanostation, select "Automatic (DHCP)" from the drop down menu and then click "Save" again. 10. I am sorry to hear that did not work for you. Maybe it is time to do a reset on the Nanostation and start over. Safe Travels...
  11. I believe I may have found another solution. Unfortunately it is rather advanced and I am not sure if you would be comfortable doing it. Using Putty, you could make an ssh connection to the Nanostation and edit a configuration file. The process is described in this article: https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/204959544-airMAX-Enabling-the-HTTP-Server-Service-via-SSH-CLI The lines to be changed are: httpd.https.port=443 httpd.https.status=disabled httpd.port=80 httpd.session.timeout=86400 httpd.status=enabled Safe Travels...
  12. I did a Google search on your error message. It appears to be more common than I realized. Most of the suggestions involved changes to the server side, which will not work for us. I would try using another browser (Opera was mentioned) until you find one that works and then disable HTTPS on the Nanostation as shown in the screen shot above. A Linux boot disk may also be a viable solution if you can't get anything to connect using Windows. Safe Travels...
  13. The tests above were done using a computer running Windows 10. Just for fun, I installed a Wi-Fi adapter in my main computer which runs Linux. I was able to connect and properly display all three of my Ubiquiti devices using Firefox, Google Chrome, and Brave. I now suspect this may be a Windows problem rather than a problem with the Nanostations. Safe Travels...
  14. I just tried connecting to my Loco M2. Google Chrome (default) worked fine. Brave connected, but then froze and did not display correctly. Microsoft Edge would not connect at all. I don't have Firefox installed on that computer. I also have a Bullet2 and Loco M5. All three browsers worked correctly with both. I have disabled secure connection (HTTPS) on the Services tab and only connect using port 80. That way I do not get the "Connection is not secure" message. I am not sure what is going on, but a visit to Ubiquiti tech support may be in our future. Safe Travels...
  15. After our big chill last week (3 days below freezing) things are much better here in West Central Florida. A group of us took a motorcycle ride over to Lake Placid for lunch. Safe Travels...
  16. I went ahead and spent the $15 for H & R Block Basic. I usually have to mail a check to the IRS but it looked like I was getting a refund this year. I thought I must have made a mistake so I went back through and sure enough, I had goofed. Oh well, at least it appears I am in better shape than previous years. I'll update the software and go through everything again before submitting. Safe Travels...

If you don't mind boondocking, you may want to look at Greenbelt National Park. https://www.nps.gov/gree/planyourvisit/campgroundreservations.htm We stayed there several years ago and found the spots to be quite large. Our 38 foot fifth wheel had room to spare. Safe Travels...
  18. My current travel trailer is 102" and that is the one I have noticed the problem of lane drift with. Safe Travels...
  19. One factor that I have seen little discussion of is the width of the trailer. I have pulled three travel trailers (and one fifth wheel) with my current truck. Two of the trailers were 96" wide and one is 102" wide. On some roads the lane drift with the 102" trailer is quite noticeable. Again, this is not a constant issue and I never noticed it with the 96" wide trailers. I believe this is due to the truck tires and trailer tires do not follow the same track. If the road has ruts. it makes it hard to keep centered in the lane. Safe Travels...
  20. My son lives in North Carolina and we spend quite a bit of time in the state. I was not surprised to see that NC is near the top of the bad driver list. My son says this is because NC is home to NASCAR and the drivers there have a reputation to uphold. Edit: After re-reading the linked article, I believe the content has changed. Safe Travels...
  21. Another consideration that I have not seen mentioned is that if Electric Vehicles are to become mainstream, we will need to massively increase generating capacity. California is moving quickly to adopt EV's, but currently have rolling blackouts when it gets hot and everyone uses their air conditioning. Safe Travels...
  22. I do not disagree with you. Some (most?) of our broadband policies need to be improved. However, claiming that Starlink is "too risky" to invest public funds is pure bovine excrement. Safe Travels...
  23. After watching the video, I agree with most of the comments. The one that best sums it up is "This looks suspiciously like a FUD hit piece sponsored by traditional telecom providers." At our place in Florida the very best Internet connection that I can get is DSL at 25 Mb/s down and 1.5 Mb/s up. That requires two bonded phone lines. Due to a shortage of lines, that level of service is no longer available. The best that can be obtained currently is 10/0.75. There is no cable or 5G cell service at all. The only other option is a wisp that also tops out at 10 Mb/s at a much higher price. The sad thing is that our place is within the city limits of the second largest city in the county. Admittedly, it is a small city in a rural county (it is not hard to be the second largest when there are only two cities in the county) I believe that Starlink will offer a better connection in an area no one else wants to serve with true broadband. Needless to say I am seriously considering switching to Starlink once it becomes available in our area. It will be even better once Starlink becomes mobile and we can take it with us while traveling. 24. We were in a similar position back in 2012. We gave our house in Florida to our son when we retired and hit the road full time (You are getting your inheritance early). We continued to use that address for domicile and our son was our mail forwarding agent. In 2012 our son sold the house and moved to North Carolina. We wanted to remain Florida residents so began a long search for a suitable home base. In 2013 we finally found a place that really suited us, the Avion Palms RV Resort in Bowling Green, FL (about 45 miles SE of Tampa). We have never regretted our decision. In fact, we recently purchased a second lot to use as a rental. I believe Avion Palms meets all of your requirements also. Currently there are not many lots available, but more come on the market from time to time. For more information check the web site: https://www.avionpalms.org/ Safe Travels...
  25. The Mobley has a USB connection that you can attach a router to. There is a long thread on this topic at Howard Forums: https://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1894920-ZTE-Mobley-USB-Tethering-ASUS-Router-and-probably-others I have done this using the GL-iNet routers mentioned in previous post. It overcomes the 5 device limit, provides Ethernet connections, and some models have both 2.4 / 5 GHz. Safe Travels...
