  1. We own a Park Model in a park in Mesa. We bought it from a woman whose husband had died. We got it fairly cheaply, it is nothing fancy, but it is all we need in the winter, and the lot rent does go up, but we have that factored in. We don't expect to make money, in fact at some point we will just turn it over to the park to have it hauled away (there is a market for these even when they appear very, very old and frail) and we will move into assisted living, etc.
  2. Why do you care? You seem inordinately curious about what other people do. There are a lot of discussions around whether you truly can be full time if you have ties to a house. I don’t think you can, but that’s just my feeling. And that has nothing to do with part-timing, long timing, extended trips, etc. people go in and out of phases throughout their time involved in RVing. We currently part-time and spend the winter in our park model in Mesa. Of course, since a park model is still classified as an RV, maybe we still are fulltiming. But who cares, it works for us at our stage of life.
  3. The form the sticker was on is your registration form to use. We got the same thing today.
  4. Not really. Still about how mail is handled, etc. I think everyone has had occasion to wonder about how mail is handled by USPS.
  5. Actually, it is a permanent forwarding for the nest year while you establish your new residence. Temporary forwarding is for 6 months ONLY. Most states require you to declare residency after 6 months. AZ is different in that they give you 7 months. Not sure I can find fault with the Post Office, did you expect forwarding forever?
  6. Mail forwarding has always been only for a year. Why hadn’t you notified your clients of your PO Box?
  7. That’s why you need to lodge a complaint with your congressional delegation.
  8. I don’t call. I go to the USPS web site and type in General Delivery, XYZ town and ask for zip code and location. The website tells me if they accept General Delivery, and the location of that post office. I think it is time for a Escapees to send a letter to our Congressional delegation asking why their constituents are being hassled by Post Offices across the country.
  9. Would be damn nice if they told everyone about this!
  10. Send an inquiry to USPS asking for an investigation, and indicate you are sending copy of inquiry to your Congressional representative. Congressional offices love to do things for constituents.
  11. We renewed ours last year with our Livingston address, not a problem. Downloaded the forms, made copies of everything requested, attached picture and sent it all in. No speaking to anyone, just sent it in and took note of check being cashed so knew they would shortly be on the way.
  12. Different if you want a DP, then buying used makes sense.
  13. Tow truck drivers at Ocean Shores, WA just love people who want to 'camp' on the beach with their trucks and RVs. Pretty hefty charge for getting them off when they realize that (1) the beach "moves" and they are sinking and (2) there is going to be a VERY high tide that night! There is a really nice CA state park at Half Moon Bay (South of SF) with RV sites (water and electric) where you can walk to the beach and hear the surf at night. Winter temperatures there wouldn't be too bad.
  14. Really depends upon the region and the season. For example, in the PNW, it is very hard to find PPA parks that will take weekends in the summer. Same with parks along 101 or I-5 - - weekenders fill them starting Thursday night. Sunday through Thursday, PPA works fine. So you adjust to that. In snowbird areas, usually not available Jan-March. That's ok, we are stationery then. Come April, those parks once again take PPA and we use them. You just have to adjust - paying 4-5 nights under passport plus regular price for weekend (often with Good Sam's 10% off) can be cheaper than anything else around.
  15. AZTEX - are you in Palm Springs? We have a love/hate relationship with the Palm Springs TT.
  16. I'll second Scott's recommendation of trying out TT via the zone pass. If you like them, you can the renew or go for a used membership. We have just been renewing (we got a 2 zone for price of 1 when we first bought it) since we have been mainly on the West Coast and have added the Trails Collections, which gives you access to Encore parks (most free for two weeks, some $20/night) which includes San Francisco RV (in Pacifica, CA just should of SF) at $20/night versus their usual $80-100/night. We use the combination at least 60nights during the summer, often more. We initially had KOA and used it some, but figured out that it wasn't worth it anymore.
  17. I suppose so, again we have hydraulic brakes so I would have no experience with this. Why the hurry to dump air? Also, do you have a system for automatic leveling that would dump air as needed?
  18. Do you have air leveling or jacks (either electric or hydraulic)? How much you dump is dependent upon how the leveling system is set up. IIRC they don't do the air brake test for Class B non-CDL licenses. Notice I said, if I remember, because it has been YEARS since I took my test (2006) and since we have hydraulic brakes it was a non-issue for us. When we get read to leave, the LAST thing we do is starting the engine and retracting the jacks. The alarm goes off because the levelers are down in addition to the air bags filling. But that's ok, because I'm out the door collecting the pads underneath the jacks, and the air bags usually are full before the jacks are all completely up.
  19. Wonder how any of us with motorhomes ever manage to get on the road. 😏
  20. We went in and tested for a Class B. It was only after that we found out that they gave us a Class A license. This was 12 years ago and they knew we towed a car. It might have been a thing with the Tyler office.
  21. We were given a Class A when we took our test. We didn't ask about it - but have friends who also got theirs in Tyler and went they got them noticed it was Class A. I think everyone that went through Tyler at that time (2006) who tested for Class B just got a Class A since the driving test was the same route and the written tests are identical. With the new testing arrangements, things are probably different now.
  22. Remember that the retirees you see on this forum tend to be a little healthier and have better retirement planning than our age cohort as a whole
  23. My mom's going strong at 96. Her two sisters are 90 and 95. So I'm going to assume I inherited those genes and plan accordingly.
