  1. And they have years ahead to plan on those jobs leaving. I realize that most will stick their head in the sand and refuse to look, watched as the tire industry moved jobs out of Akron and workers kept saying the jobs would come back. Ice delivery men were out of a job when refrigerators were installed all over the country. Look at all the reporters for local newspapers loosing their jobs because technology has changed everything. All organisms adapt or die out. No coal - the power plants running on coal are being phased out and converted to natural gas. Yes, we need training for the jobs of the future, which will require people to THINK about the future and how they will be involved in the changes that are coming. You are the one is keeps poo-pooing that idea that change is coming.
  2. Vlad, You are talking about %, not total number of people.
  3. Trouble with PA parks is in the summer on the west coast, maybe 2 or 3 days at most, no weekends, and they are few and far between on the west side of the mountains. Since we spend most of the time in the PNW in the summer, TT works for us.
  4. And these are the workers that need to encouraged to expand their talents, plan for the changes coming, NOW, instead of waiting for the layoffs to come. Anyone NOT planning on doing continuing education all of their working lives will find themselves left behind. The pace of change mandates no one can say they are "Done" with education, whether it is on-the job, short term classes for additional certifications, or planning on a new career and moving towards that goal.
  5. Of course they will come up with better technology! That’s a given. Can you name one case where technology went backwards? May go off on a tangent, and not every idea will pan out, but innovation and exlploration are part of the human DNA.
  6. When do you think the stock will split? Apple has had 5 splits since '87.
  7. You have more diverse populations than Seattle and Tacoma? Really? All states are having problems with old computer systems/websites that don't function like they should. And most states could have state of the art websites/databases if they state governmental offices would just ask the universities in the state to get their computer science departments to work on it. But they won't, they just clunk along.
  8. Our delivery came out on Wednesday and was delivered TO OUR DOOR this afternoon! It got to Phoenix this morning, so I expected it tomorrow, but wow, right to the door!
  9. My sister who is in Mill Creek, got hers at the Everett Clinic center that she goes to. The Paine Field one filled up quickly, but then opened up again so most of her friends (over 70) have gotten them. Additionally, she said there are Amazon popup clinics that KOMO TV has a link for on their website - just have to be on line at the right time. And yes, the wet side is getting more vaccine because more people live on the wet side.
  10. Does someone drive 1200 miles in a day? If not, what's the problem. Overnight stops will be at plugin locations. Again, you assume that we will still be doing long haul by trucks. I don't assume that will hold true.
  11. Got our Pfizer vaccinations today in Phoenix area. Got one joke on our Texas license plates (all Texas plates stay in the right line) - only 2 lines going in and we were already in the right lane. 😉 Otherwise no one batted an eye. Was really quick, stayed in our car, arrived at 11:20 left the area at 11:55. They had 10 lanes of cars going through, were using Chandler-Gilbert Community College campus which has classes online, so plenty of room. Dignity Health was running the site, had nurses, nursing students, EMTs, and volunteers helping as well as Police directing people where to go.
  12. And in 15 years? You have no imagination if you can't see the possibilities coming down the pike. 15 years ago, were you using a smart phone? I still had a PDA at work and was so happy with it. My mother was born in a Soddy on the Montana plains. By the time she died at 97, she'd flown to Australia and back and did FaceTime with her granddaughter (who traveled to Australia with her)! You're stuck in the past, with what is comfortable. As Dylan said: "The Times They Are A Changing"
  13. So they pull into a charge station and take one of the mandatory 'time outs' and are charged while resting, taking a shower, having dinner, sleeping, etc. You have no idea what will be possible by the time to move to battery long haul trucks - maybe they will all be fuel cells instead. Plus, we should be moving more 'stuff' via rail. And who says there will be drivers in those trucks in 15-20 yrs?
  14. The ones who started it have already gotten out. It is the little investor that doesn't really pay attention to what is happening.
  15. Linda, There's a small portion of people that have overactive immune system that will take the needle going into an arm as a 'foreign body' and react accordingly - swelling, overproduction of histamine, fluid filling the body, etc. Asking helps them to make sure they have appropriate support available should you have a reaction. Even people with severe reactions that involve breathing can get the vaccination - in some cases they may be give anti-histamine before the injection, and they have epinephrine available in case someone has a severe reaction. Allergic reactions can be handled, but the chance of death from Covid makes that a reasonable choice to make. Just curious, do you know what the negative reaction was? What someone might classify as negative, someone else will just see as a mild inconvenience. We all have different tolerances to just about everything in our environment.
  16. I have no idea where you are, but someone is feeding either you or your mom incorrect information. All care homes all over the country are now getting vaccinated by CVS and Walgreens under federal contracts. Call the local health department and lodge a complaint as well as the state’s department of Public Health, as well as local media. are you thinking about Merck stopping it’s development and turning to therapeutics research? As to the Moderna reactions: WebMD, 01/21/20
  17. You really need to update your news sources. As predicted the 'cluster' at the one clinic in CA for the Moderna turned out not to be significant, just people not aware of the types of reactions that come with vaccinations, over caution on the part of the clinic (which we should all want) in what to report. And I wouldn't be surprised if there was some effect on people who see others saying they are having a reaction. Any way they are using the vaccine lot and no one else has seen the same thing at other sites.
  18. Disney reservations need to be made a year ahead or more.
  19. Once you have your Escapees address, you can register your vehicles by mail and then get them inspected when you get into the state. The one thing you do have to do in person is get your DL. As to time, you have to let us know what your rig is since the weight may be a factor in whether you need an enhanced DL or not. If enhanced license isn't needed and you have registered your vehicles before hand, then 1 day or 2 at most will suffice. If enhanced needed, you will need to take the written test, then make an appointment for driving test that can be several weeks out.
  20. For a mortgage the address of your new home is the address they will use. What are you doing for mail right now? Just put that down as your current address.
  21. Owning property in any state does not make you a resident of that state. WORKING is the first trigger, living at property longer than what the state allows is the second trigger and so on. Most people will be turned in by neighbors who are angry about seeing someone day in and day out not pay their fair share. But most states this year are not worried about it because a lot of people were caught in states by the pandemic and illnesses and could not move on.
  22. They are selling tickets for the games, obviously will be masked with seating spaced, etc.
  23. March is Spring Training in Phoenix - 15 major league teams will be here, all within a 30-40 minute drive, since a lot of people didn't return for the season, most RV parks have open sites. Casa Grande Ruins are a day trip from anywhere in the Phoenix area, if you have never been, should see. Of course, all openings are dependent upon how the virus is going by then. Sedona is another great area to visit, north of Phoenix with RV parks in Cottonwood and Sedona. Wineries in that area, as well as Tuzigoots, Montezuma's Castle, and Montezuma's Well National Monuments. The drive through Oak Creek Canyon is another day trip (car/truck, no RV) up to Flagstaff and back.
  24. Hope ours goes as smoothly next week in Chandler. When I was getting time that first day they were open, they had not set up Cardinal Stadium yet.
