  1. We keep a hoard of cash in our safe for when we need cash. I do find I write more checks when traveling than when stationary. We do that to save our cash hoard. But no one has ever questioned the address on the checks either and it is from 3 addresses ago.
  2. I haven't been to a bank or branch for 30-40 years and I have switched banks and brokerages. Everything is done electronically. Loans, mortgages, new account, transfers, deposits, withdrawals(ATM) etc. I don't think anyone even looks at the address on a check and how many checks does one write?? 2-3 a year, maybe.
  3. We were in TX but we did register a car that was out of state so I don't see any problem but call Polk County and verify.
  4. We don't use Dakota but what about refunds of deposits and other payments made??? This entire closing seems suspicious: sudden, no notification to customers, status of monies in account.
  5. Isn't there some legal USPS requirement that mail must be accepted(or whatever) for 6 months. They need to ease out to give everyone time to move to another service.
  6. You could always go to the Escapees Service, they support SD now.
  7. I am surprised we are just hearing of this. They must have sent out emails to all their customers to notify them so another service could be found.
  8. We don't have an oven so have a large toaster oven. I have switched out my crock pot for an Instant Pot Pressure Cooker(has 6 different functions) and added my food processor(can mix cakes, bread, shred cheese, chop onions, nuts etc.). We tend to do one-pot cooking or simple cooking. Also have switched to buying pre-mixed bags: Alfredo and Noodles, rice mixes, jambalaya etc.
  9. Why don't you get the spring picnic table clips?
  10. We use placemats, found some made out of shelf liner but could easily buy shelf liner and make your own.
  11. Go to Google and type in campgrounds around louisville ky;click on thte map and about 20 or so show up. I can't figure out how to copy the map over or I would. Here is the link, don't know if it will work. https://www.google.com/search?num=20&newwindow=1&safe=active&q=campgrounds+around+louisville+ky&npsic=0&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=38141463,-85715434,15719&tbm=lcl&ved=0ahUKEwjijeHppezbAhWBH5AKHdfmAGoQtgMIKw&tbs=lrf:!2m1!1e2!2m1!1e3!2m1!1e16!3sIAE,lf:1,lf_ui:1&rldoc=1#rlfi=hd:;si:;mv:!1m3!1d385971.67742665345!2d-85.56343049999998!3d38.14063205!3m2!1i732!2i369!4f13.1
  12. When we bought ours 3 years ago it came with the light. We didn't do that part of the install and don't have the directions.
  13. Ready Brute Elite comes with the dash light, check website. All you need to add is the break-away.
  14. Let me make a couple of corrections to the above post: 1) there is a line run to indicate the brake is being applied, comes with the kit and 2) the break away kit is only $100 or so and mostly legally required, well worth it. We bought the Ready Brute Elite and have been very happy with it.
  15. We use on our Class A the Ready Brake Elite. It is a surge brake. We didn't want anything that had to be hauled in and out of the toad.
  16. Someplace on the Escapees site is the waiver for DNS. Recently we emailed/faxed it in and had DNS within 1-2 days. I went looking for the form but couldn't find it. You may need to email them for the form, it is no longer located at old location. The cost is $15/month and we get 6? channels. You either get East or West, depending on your zipcode. Edit: http://www.directv.com/DNS/DNS Mobile Revised Letter.pdf
  17. A little more on the why. some people like to receive the local info and can't get it OTA. We did ask for local only when we are someplace for a month or 2 but we also have DNS so it is no big deal, for us, convenience to have everything on one receiver. I am sure other people have other reasons. It is more the principle, Directv took away something that many of used and never said a word. Now we have to jump through hoops to switch. I understand DISH alllows you to change via an app.
  18. OK. Maybe I'll try it. My big worry is that I change it now but then in 2 months can't change it back.
  19. Does anyone have an update on the service address change? We would like to do it but don't want to rock the boat.
  20. If you buy used plan on tires. I would also look into a smaller MH as a single. We are a couple and have a 36' with empty cabinets and plenty of room for us........................A 30' would give you better access to Fed/State Parks. Also if you are over 62 make sure you gt your Federal Pass, $80. Gives you free access to Fed parks etc and 1/2 price camping in Fed cgs. Do this sooner than later as you never know what will be changed. Recently the price went from $10 to $80. Better to lock it in now.
  21. We just set out generator to auto-start. Works fine the one time it was needed. If you have a rig without a generator, another story.
  22. Anyone who puts their eggs in one basket regarding GPS, mapping programs etc. is asking for trouble. I always pre-plan the night before via the computer, double check on paper(I believe in paper backup of as much as possible) prior to programming the GPS. Once in the GPS I verify its routing by bringing up the complete map of my route for the day. If there is a question I can go to the individual instruction to verify.
  23. I don't with Base Camp, too hard to use. We don't program in more than a day and normally a straightish route. If I need to add way points I just do it on the Garmin, I have found it very easy to do vs. Base Camp.
  24. I have had a Garmin for 20+ years and have always been happy with their product. I have not tried the Rand McNally. The only one I have been unhappy with was one we bought at Costco, I don't know if Costco has their own version of Garmin or not but it did not meet the standards we were use to. After a year it died and I returned it. I have never had any problems with the Garmin until the Costco one. I bought the RV660 from Garmin and have been happy for 3 years. I don't find the campgrounds anything to write home about. The Garmin has a small subset of available campgrounds so we never use it. We are pleasantly surprised if a campground we are planning to go to is in the Garmin, most aren't. Garmin has lifetime updates(however long that is) and I make sure I update once a year. We solely use the Garmin on a day to day basis. Put in our goal first thing in the morning and then follow it untill we are ready to pull over, whether we have gone as far as we planned or not.
