  1. I agree but I think it a pick and choose by USPS location, like many things with USPS. This is the first time I have encountered this and no one else seems to know about it. Just another question to ask when you call up a USPS to check on General Delivery. Sigh...........
  2. I just had a response from the Escapees Mail Service. Apparently, they are aware of this newish procedure. Here is the response: Yes, USPS started doing that several years ago. Most of them will not accept General Delivery mail without filling out a form to do so. It is always best to check with that particular post office first before scheduling your mail.
  3. Well, this got turned around. I filled out the form on the USPS website about the Surprise USPS. Guess who called me this morning? The Surprise USPS!!! The person claimed that this form is "normal" procedure and if on the road to call the USPS facility and they will fill it out on the phone I pointed out in 40 years of RVing and using the USPS I had never heard of this before. He had no answer. While having a person on the line I asked about the UPS and FEDEX General Delivery. As long as I have the form filled out, no problem. I think I will test that out for a small Amazon order.
  4. Not in this case but a majority of USPS that we have used accept anything addressed to General Delivery an actually have asked us why we asked if they accept General Delivery from US and Fedex.
  5. We generally try to use small town USPS but have had problems in Deming and Lordsburg with General Delivery from UPS and Fedex. We are going to be in Surprise for a month and since I checked with them I thought all was good. We have a CPU on site and the paperwork says to use Surprise USPS for General Delivery.
  6. The problem I see is that many of us use General Delivery on the road and will have our mail sent to a USPS facility where we will be in a week or two. General Delivery is suppose to be held for 30 days and we depend on that. If our mail is received and refused, then sent back to Livingston we are up a creek. Defeats the purpose of General Delivery.
  7. Yes, each post office is its little fiefdom. When I queried about General Delivery from Fedex or UPS, several have said no problem at all as long as it says General Delivery. Others outright refuse the package and send it back.
  8. After checking with the Surprise USPS we had our mail forwarded to General Delivery. We received confirmation that our package had arrived so went to pick it up. Then the fun started. First question was did I fill out the form to request General Delivery. Of course my answer was no. Surprise will only accept General Delivery if form is filled out. Did I have a tracking number? While we were looking for the tracking number I asked what happened to the mail if I didn't have a form filled out. I was told the mail would be returned to sender. Once she had a tracking number she found my mail. Wow, this was a big shock to me. We have encountered several Post Offices that will not accept General Delivery for Fedex and UPS. But not accepting General Delivery from themselves doesn't seem right. I am going to forward this info to our mail service as an FYI.
  9. Great News!!! Stay positive and good things happen..................
  10. Alaska Tour Saver Book is $30 off through today(Sunday).
  11. Don't put PMB in the address, we just use #xxxxxx. Have you tried filling out the application on-line? If the system accepts the application you should be good. Goal is to avoid people who may or may not know what they are doing. .
  12. Regarding financing, Alliant Credit Union is well attuned to RVers and full-timers. We went through this process several years ago and became TX residents. You are both running very late in establishing a mail service. There will be a lot more addresses you need to change than you think. I'm not sure about FL laws so won't comment on anything FL. Regarding the 2 addresses with Escapees. The only mail that would go to your FL address would be "govt" mail. DL and registration. All other mail will go to your TX address. This means that once a year you will get a piece of mail for registration, or less if you register for multiple years. Every 6 years or so you will get a new DL. This amount of mail is minor. Don't overwork this. Steps we took prior to going full-time were: move as much as possible to auto-pay, change all addresses to our TX address(this takes a lot of your time), go to Livingston, TX and in a few hours had everything registered and a new DL. There were things we missed but in general, everything went smoothly. From what I have read the one critical item for where to establish domicile is medical insurance. We are fine, we had Medicare and our company insurance as secondary. You can't just look at sales tax and the other $$ items as to where to domicile, you need to look at the overall picture. An appt. with Loring can be very beneficial and they deal with RVers all the time. You will enjoy this life once you get over the bumpy start.
  13. I must have had a good doctor. His attitude was that I should decide when I wanted to get my knee replaced. The first one I hung on for many years. The second one, I made an appt., told him I wanted my knee replaced and 3 weeks later it was replaced. This is like when I had Cataracts. My doc said just let him know. My brother's doc wouldn't do the surgery until the Cataracts were "ripe", whatever that is. These decisions should be your choice, not some doctor saying wait. It is your quality of life. Find another doctor.
  14. My husband just had brain surgery and he was on Oxy, slept 16-18 hours a day if not longer. Told him he had to get off, feels a lot better now and is sleeping normal. Went to Tylenol.
  15. I toughed it out for 10 years, doctor thought I would be back in 1. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Agree PT is the secret. There is lot of recovery of muscles to be done.
  16. Agree about everything. Hindsight is "why did I wait?". I believe that is true for a majority of replacements.
  17. x2. Took me about 6 months for full recovery of each knee. Year before I stopped thinking about them.
  18. Wow that is impressive!! Took me 2-3 months before I could play golf again and bike ride a bit.
  19. Lance, Whoever told you that you would be able to work on the Volvo in a month is dreaming. I have had 2 replacements and it was closer to 4-6 months if not longer. You will need PT for up to 2 months and then you are still not 100%. If you had a partial knee replacement that goes faster but not 1 month.
  20. Just drive the road, don't speed. Perfectly OK as a road if you don't hot dog it.
  21. You also need ti to figure out what is causing the film on the windows. Do you always have a vent open and drawing air out when cooking? Vent over the range turned on? That is all I can think of that wou;d cause a film on the windows.
  22. We checked with lawyers in both states and they both said the wills were acceptable in their state.
  23. We were pleasantly surprised when we began the process to go to full time that our wills from VA were acceptable, as is, in both FL and TX.
  24. We use the Mr. Buddy as our primary heater and don't have any film on our windows. Try vinegar and water(50/50). If that doesn't work try more vinegar.
  25. Does anyone have the Visible Plan? Does it work well? I am not concerned about the speed, we are considering the plan for our secondary phone. We like to have one phone on ATT and one phone on Verizon. Thinking about getting the Android R2 phone from Visible. Thanks Does anyone know how much memory the R2 has? We want at last 16G.
