  1. We thought they were referring to the MH registration.
  2. It appears to be legit. The number on the email is the Directv phone number. I called but the CSR said I need to reach the DNS area, she gave me a number but it is out of service.
  3. We received the same request but are in our RV fulltime. It seems to me that they are only concerned about the DNS stations. If you have DNS at the house that is a no-no. I wouldn't call until some more people pipe in. Don't stir the pot yet.
  4. Linda, I don't think any technology can help in a t-bone. Sorry to hear that.
  5. I didn't know Mobileye was company. Pricey thing. I'll just stick with my dash cam.
  6. https://www.amazon.com/Black-Box-Original-Dashboard-Dash/dp/B00FONBG1A/ref=pd_cp_107_1?pd_rd_w=ixDcm&pf_rd_p=ef4dc990-a9ca-4945-ae0b-f8d549198ed6&pf_rd_r=5VCEM4RMP05A5H2X16Z6&pd_rd_r=677e6249-6065-11e9-a945-818b360be682&pd_rd_wg=d04Kr&pd_rd_i=B00FONBG1A&psc=1&refRID=5VCEM4RMP05A5H2X16Z6 Price has gone up, $55,when we bought they were $40. I never thought HD would carry them, but then, this was a couple of years ago.
  7. People in today's world do not want to accept responsibility, a dash cam eliminates that problem. I have heard of several incidents that have been resolved by just getting out of the car and saying you have a dash cam. Nullifies any argument. For $40-$50 it is an inexpensive option.
  8. I never heard of a dash cam referred to as a mobile eye. We have one in each car, just so there is a record if something goes wrong. Just so there is no he said/she said arguments.
  9. Some things to consider is a mail service, full-timer insurance, umbrella liability insurance, organizations to join. A mail service is where you have your mail sent and held. Upon request, they will forward your mail to you at a designated location, usually a small town post office that accepts General Delivery is best. Full-timer insurance is the equivalent to homeowners insurance, you will also need renters insurance for your storage unit and umbrella liability policy. Escapees has a mail service but there are others. Full-timers insurance is easiest if you use a broker such as FCIS(800-331-1520) or Miller(800-622-6347). A broker can compare several different companies for you. You should be able to get your Umbrella policy through them also and maybe your renter's insurance. There are many organizations you can join to reduce your camping costs. Most of us belong to Passport America, just staying a few nights on the road you get your money back. There are other organizations but best to wait until you find your camping style. Welcome to your new life!!!!
  10. Yes, it is so dependent on each post office. We stayed for 3 months in one place this summer. I went to the post office to see if they would accept General Delivery delivered by UPS or Fedex. Answer was "Why not?", if it was addressed to General Delivery they would accept the package. Here is a question that concerns many of us. Last year we went to Escapade in Sedalia. Stopped at the PO to pick up our mail and was asked what was going on, they had been overwhelmed with General Delivery mail. Now if this had been Surprise, all the mail would have been returned because none of us had filled out a form..........Something to think about for the future Escapades. I assume that Escapees warns the local PO to expect additional GD mail but I don't know what would happen if the PO required a form for GD mail.
  11. Figure a half day in Livingston to get you DL and everything inspected and registered. Get you Escapees mailbox now and start changing addresses. Make sure you keep your old address long enough to make sure nothing random of a critical nature comes through. I would keep the old address through next Feb/Mar to cover a tax season.
  12. For what the post office does they generally do well, I have no complaints. Human errors occur. What bothers me is the lack of consistency from post office to post office. Each postmaster can make or break their own rules. Many postmasters have been in the same position for decades and don't buy into modern technology making everyone's lives miserable.
  13. We use RVtripwizard. Seems to be the best one out there right now. Does cost $$ though.
  14. I did all that(see previous note). The Consumer Complaint just gets forwarded to the Surprise PO. One big circle.................
  15. I agree. Anyone know who to contact? and how to contact?
  16. I agree but I think it a pick and choose by USPS location, like many things with USPS. This is the first time I have encountered this and no one else seems to know about it. Just another question to ask when you call up a USPS to check on General Delivery. Sigh...........
  17. I just had a response from the Escapees Mail Service. Apparently, they are aware of this newish procedure. Here is the response: Yes, USPS started doing that several years ago. Most of them will not accept General Delivery mail without filling out a form to do so. It is always best to check with that particular post office first before scheduling your mail.
  18. Well, this got turned around. I filled out the form on the USPS website about the Surprise USPS. Guess who called me this morning? The Surprise USPS!!! The person claimed that this form is "normal" procedure and if on the road to call the USPS facility and they will fill it out on the phone I pointed out in 40 years of RVing and using the USPS I had never heard of this before. He had no answer. While having a person on the line I asked about the UPS and FEDEX General Delivery. As long as I have the form filled out, no problem. I think I will test that out for a small Amazon order.
  19. Not in this case but a majority of USPS that we have used accept anything addressed to General Delivery an actually have asked us why we asked if they accept General Delivery from US and Fedex.
  20. We generally try to use small town USPS but have had problems in Deming and Lordsburg with General Delivery from UPS and Fedex. We are going to be in Surprise for a month and since I checked with them I thought all was good. We have a CPU on site and the paperwork says to use Surprise USPS for General Delivery.
