  1. Here's a link comparing the two types of exams: https://www.medicare.gov/blog/your-start-to-a-healthy-future-begins-with-a-physical-exam
  2. I agree. There are plenty of good RV parks that aren't the high class 'resorts'. I have to smile when folks say "everything is full".
  3. Hwy 26 is a very easy drive. It runs along the river. Perfectly OK for any size RV. It's flat. You may be thinking of Hwy 22 (Teton Pass) between Victor & Jackson. That's a biggie! 10% grades.
  4. I don't think there's a 48' MH but regardless, she needs to watch the weather constantly. The roads are good.
  5. Here's a video of the motorhome and car being dug out and towed. A GPS has been mentioned over the course of this tragedy and I'm surprised there hasn't been a recovery report and map on the GPS if, indeed, they were following a GPS. This video showed that they had a printout map. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SvuZ_y75EU&ab_channel=HeavyDSparks
  6. There are a least two of us doing it your way!! I plan with paper maps and then create a GPS map with many waypoints so we can see what WE want to. Never got lost using a variety of paper maps.
  7. There are also some RV parks that state "Don't follow your GPS. Use these directions: .... "
  8. That was a question posed to visitors when we gave lighthouse tours in Michigan and Oregon. Nearly everyone thought the answer was a coastal state.
  9. You posted that you have heart problems and asthma in addition to your age. You qualify for the second booster.
  10. Wow! You have 3,000w. We had 300 w. and managed just fine for continuous boondocking. What do you use it all for? How do you walk up there for maintenance on everything?
  11. 70 isn't old! If you have good enough health, eyesight and reflexes then you're set to go. Don't waste time. You're an experienced RVer and you've full-timed so you know what to expect. Drive short days. Get an RV that you can handle easily. I suggest going to some Escapees parks where everyone is so friendly and who welcome you in activities. This is especially true of holidays. An Escapee park is the place to be at Christmas time. Get involved with the Escapees. Have you every considered volunteering in national or state parks? Perhaps you need some kind of purpose to keep you motivated. Go for it!
  12. Here are a couple photos of the RV/car recovery. It looks like they may have tried to turn the RV around in a wide spot. https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-news/photos-show-missing-couples-last-days-of-ill-fated-journey/#:~:text=RENO (KLAS) — The RV,our most bittersweet recoveries yet.”
  13. Here's a link for getting the 2nd booster in Indiana. I did a Google and another or two came up but I didn't look at them. https://states.aarp.org/indiana/covid-19-vaccine-distribution
  14. There's a person on iRV2 forum in the 'General' section doing a report of having his RV painted in Rocky Point Mexico right now. (That's a very easy, short drive from the Organ Pipe Cactus NP area.) The pictures he's taking look great and very, very reasonable. They're also doing other misc. work.
  15. Don't blame hosts and rangers. They have nothing to do with correcting web sites. It's upper management who makes decisions. As hosts for many years I know they care about things they can't control.
  16. Just had our appt. with internist. We're 80. It was recommended that we wait until Sept. to get our 2nd booster so that we're better protected for the fall season. We also get a flu shot in the fall. We never had the flu since getting it. In the summer people are outdoors when the risk is lower. We don't eat inside in restaurants. We still wear masks in grocery stores or general shopping and of course, doctor's offices are still requiring them.
  17. Maybe I'm not understanding you but we used Delorme's mapping program and it showed forest and BLM roads when we were 4-wheeling. Our handheld Garmin was used on forest service lands when geocaching.
  18. Read my last updated link above? Here are some comments: " Travis Peters, the couple's nephew and a longtime photographer and editor at 13News, said his aunt and uncle were very intelligent people. Ronnie was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who loved antique radios and was ahead of the curve when it came to technology. Beverly worked for defense contractors and also loved technology" "As a lot of people suspected, it was bad GPS directions," Peters said. A short time later, however, a rescuer heard a car horn. It was Beverly, honking out "SOS" in Morse code, just as Ronnie taught her during the week. It sounds like this wasn't a cognitive issue. EDIT: I just looked at the You Tube video & the nephew stated they saw campers along the way so they probably didn't pass RVs on the road; they just saw them camping.
  19. We never relied solely on our GPS. Paper maps are still the best. If going to be in a state many times getting the Benchmark Atlas is good to do. It shows the tiny backroads clearly and all public lands and also campgrounds. Here's the account in Beverly's own words... toward the end of the article. https://www.wthr.com/article/news/local/missing-indianapolis-couple-nevada-ronnie-beverly-barker/531-ca6859c0-fbf2-4f73-bcbf-f5eb7fd378ac?fbclid=IwAR1tRf_BvXMHABTpHTxG65uJHsyPy8S6Ao_Fhl2tlkVJaiCqS5KVtE2qToo
  20. You posted this in Travel Logs which can't be replied to.  Wonder how Kirk was able to reply?
