bags
Good afternoon I am finally going to add a hitch camera to my truck. I remember seeing one that was dead simple and removable. It was made out of 1/2 pipe and a magnet or two. Before I reinvent the wheel does anyone have a photo of one that they like? Thanks in advance. SuiteSuccess
You may have to enlarge but this is mine. Heavy duty magnet base from Harbor Freight and short length of pipe. Have used this setup for 13 years with no issues. Magnet is plenty strong. https://www.harborfreight.com/66mm-round-magnet-96650.html On edit this was my original bolted plate which I didn’t like so I changed to the magnet base. trimster
I did the same thing. HF magnets. I used 3/8" threaded rod as the vertical support. I tried one magnet. Not enough. Used some angle steel to make a base. Put 2 magnets on that. It stays where put. I also left enough slack in the cable to the camera so I can move it to the end of the bed and look down if I have to do a ball mount tow. Sculptor
My first version was also HF magnets, specifically the tool bar magnets not the round. I mounted a light cross of aluminum and the camera mounted on the crossmember. This was stuck on the centerline of the ET hitch front panel. Later I bought a second identical magnet. The first magnet tended to slip sideways a little, so I placed the second magnet on the ET hitch front panel alongside the first magnet bar. It “worked” but tended to vibrate the picture underway. Last year I changed all that out for a galvanized pipe and mounted it to the ET hitch with U-bolts. The picture is stable now.
