Linda T
Does anyone know how a OTR microwave is mounted in an RV. We are replacing ours and there is no cabinet above to provide access to secure with a top mount bolt to the top of the microwave. We have not removed the old one yet. Our OTR microwave/convection combo relies on a large steel bracket (pretty much matches the back of the oven) that screws to the wall behind the microwave, with "hooks" that engage the bottom of the oven and two long bolts that pull it into the bracket at the top. We do have a cabinet above ours and installed two additional bolts to further stabilize the oven. It is possible to rely solely on the backplate to support the oven, but I feel better with the two additional bolts directly holding the front of the oven, as ours is large and heavy. Yours must rely entirely on the backplate. Look for a cover to remove near the top front of the oven, and see if there are long screws in the corners. Those will be what are holding the oven into the backplate. Assuming that they are mounted similarly... Linda T
Mark&Teri. Thanks for the reply. We'll take a look at the bracket. Ours does have the "hooks", but there is no panel on the side of the oven or way to secure anything after you put the oven on those hooks. The old oven was an original install and looks like we may need to remove the trim of the cabinet to get access. Grrr!!
GlennWest
Should be 2 angled bolts in the bottom. Lossen them and it should come off. Jaydrvr
What kind of RV? In my Newmar, there are several angled screws hidden behind the upper trim plate, through holes cut in the chassis. Jay
