vt3fan
Trying to get an idea of what this road is like and if towing a 37' 5th Wheel is advised. Does anyone have any experience with this road? wtgeodog
I drive this road frequently. It is quite steep on the East side but, doable. Just keep in a lower gear when descending. It is a pleasant and scenic drive. We stay 1 or 2 months every summer at Rio Chama RV Park in Chama. The train ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is spectacular. Goes around , comes around .
Lou Schneider
The only traffic on the tracks is the Cumbres and Toltec tourist trains, since the tracks are narrow gauge they don't interconnect with any other railroad. That said, you may get more than two trains a day depending on where you're there. But there won't be any overnight activity.
Fhkw9DPJ8V1g
This is a beautiful drive. We've done it pulling a 38' fifth wheel but I've never found a mountain highway that I didn't enjoy.
vt3fan
Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. We've stayed in the area before(before we were full time RV'ers) and have done the train ride twice. It is without a doubt one of my favorite experiences. And what a scenic area. Now to check out Rio Chama RV Park.....
