Cathy and Paula
We are looking at a 2012 NuWa Hitchhiker 38 CKQG and would like to know if we should consider buying this since NuWa is no longer in business? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks CC & PB Cathy and PaulaUS Air Force Retired2016 Lifestyle LS37CKSL/2016 Ford F350 DRWFulltiming since Aug 09Blog http://www.pclivinthedream.blogspot.com/Blog http://www.pclivinthedream2.blogspot.com/
I'mdonewiththis forum
Personally I wouldn't worry much about the out of business part. Seeing as it is four years old there in no warranty to be concerned about. I would take some time and examine it really closely for any signs of water leaks and mold issues. Then look at the overall condition of the outside too. Look at any screws on the outside for signs of rust. If you can then go on the roof for a careful examination. If everything looks good so far then I would start to go over the interior and appliances looking for any signs of rough use, abuse, or 'rode hard and put away wet'. Trust your gut feeling. If something doesn't 'feel' right walk away. There will be others to look at. If you watch the classifieds here quite often there are good deals to be had. jblscooper
FWIW, we have a 18 year old Champagne(1998). The interior and exterior is in very good shape. We have, over the years, replaced 2 WHers, replaced Dometic fridge with Whirlpool, a couple of AC's, one window and several suspension items. No plans to replace(we fulltime). Big Greg
I wouldn't be concerned from my experience, we ordered our HitchHiker in 2007 and have been traveling and living in it since. NuWa service and parts has been open continually in Chanute, KS. We will be there Monday for a Splendide combo washing machine installation. They have to be doing good as appointments are usually needed several weeks in advance. The appliances can be serviced by many RV service places across the country.....as can the fifth wheel too. When NuWa shut down manufacturing a couple years ago and we became orphans we listened to other owners who were orphans (Teton, King of the Road, etc) and felt quite fortunate that NuWa service and parts remained open and the sales staff now sells other make RVs and refurbished units. If you haven't already checkout the NuWa Owners Forum, there's lots of info and it's very active with 5000+ members, link is below. bigjim
Post #3 re the window replacement. I would not be surpised if the window replacement was the most expensive item in the list of items you replaced.
jblscooper
Actually, the window was on the end of a slide and Hehr is quite reasonable. The AC replacement is right up there. Jim
