Getting off the road...

Recommended Posts

We have put our 5th Wheel in a consignment shop and moved into a new home on the Mississippi Gulf coast. We enjoyed our 7+ years on the road and all the experiences pulling our rig(s) 70,000+ miles. The friends we met stay friends even though we won't be seeing them much. Wife's lower back problems prompted us to 'get off the road' while we could still enjoy other life experiences. Staying in one place in an RV was not an option for us. We hear from RV friends most every day and it's fun to hear about their continuing life on the road, though almost a dozen of them have also sold their rigs and moved into sticks and bricks homes. After being gone for 50 years from the town where I grew up , we are now 'back home' and living just a short distance from the street where I grew up. It's just great to be back in the bayous, among the huge spreading oak trees, near the beaches, and among old friends from childhood days (those that are still living.) For those of you still on the road...stay safe. Blessings!

Best Wishes, rvreb. Sounds like an Ideal last stop on the road. My wife and I have beginnings in East Texas and Louisiana... and are feeling the pull to there, when we are close. We have been on the road for three years and are still quite happy, but someday, who knows?

Take care

Sounds like you found your ideal ending spot! We full-timed 16 years and have also settled down. Although we love our home, area and all the activities going with it, we really miss our full-time adventures at times, especially when we see a RV going down the road on their way to a new adventure. Much happiness to you!

Good luck with your new lifestyle! We did the same thing about 3 years ago. Took a little getting used to and we still miss full timing once in a while but we are happy with our decision.
