fortytwo
HP Envy Laptop with Win 7. Video no longer plays. With Youtube Video if I move the pointer along the progress line at the bottom I see photos and the time along the time line but the screen window remains black. Tried resetting Windows Media Center as the default for all videos with no change. Ran the Media Center troubleshooter which only gave a message that something could be misconfigured, but didn't offer any further info. Switch must have gotten set somewhere. I know I stopped installing flash updates sometime in the past, but don't remember disabling flash. Any ideas of what I should try?
Pat & Pete
I believe your problem is Adobe Flash Player , not your media center . I'm running W7 and had a similar problem . Updated Flash Player and now videos play just fine . Goes around , comes around .

fortytwo
Reinstall of Flash fixed it. Had to uninstall McAfee Security Scan that came with it as a dual install.

Good you can watch videos again . As for uninstallation , I use Iobit : http://www.iobit.com/en/advanceduninstaller.php Free and thorough . Much better than the Windows offering . Goes around , comes around .
