tyates007
My 99 did the same thing and then one day went out and did not come back on if you are referring to the odometer in the center of the panel. Had Volvo check it and turned out to be an issue with the cluster that could not be repaired.
rdickinson
This happened to me a couple of years ago. It was something to do with dimming the screen, can't remember specifically. I was able to see the screen very faintly in certain light conditions and was able to switch it back. Best I can do. I sent an e-mail to a guy in Edmonton who fixes Volvo Dash clusters, hopefully he gets back to me. The gent in Edmonton figures it could be a bad solder joint especially if it is intermittent. SunJuniper
could be the ole bad solder joints on the circuit boards in the cluster. if you REALLY handy with a soldering iron (not gun) , there is a guide around here and maybe on the heavy haulers resource website on how to fix it. ive fixed mine and problem solved. about 4 hours to go over mine with a magnifying glass and resolder all the cracked solder joints. there was quite a few. Alie&Jim's Carrilite
On a '98 610 there is a screen in at the bottom of the left-hand cluster, is this the screen your referring to? If so, could I have the guys name from Edmonton, because mine is dead as well. But will the truck operate with it unplugged / removed? hdonlybob
My 2001 610 did that for several years when it was cold (as in 0 degrees or so) on start up.. after warming up, shut off and restart and it was fine.. I suspect eventually quit.. Cheers, Bob 1989 Safari Serengeti 34'Towing a 1952 M38A1 Military Willys Past HDT owner
