The hottest day so far this summer. My weather station clocked in at 103 and not much of a breeze. One day and I'm already sick of being a prisoner to the air conditioner. I did go to the doctor's office and ask why I haven't been notified about the outcome of that CT. The receptionist said she didn't know and said she would text the doctor then call me. That was this morning. Still no call and everything is closed now. I have to see the doctor on the 2nd for a physical. If I haven't got a report by them I'll tell them what they can do with that physical appointment. And I won't be nice.

Our weather has been very nice the last couple of days. We went to the visitors center at the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Lots of deep snow still up there. Looking forward to seeing you next winter.

Much cooler today. It hit 94 around noon but didn't stay there very long. It dropped back to 91 with a wind that varies between 10 and 25 MPH. It's a dry heat something like Steve's hair dryer. Now I don't know whether to complain about the heat or the wind. I still haven't got that call from the doctor's office. I'm debating whether to keep the appointment for the physical on Monday and raise hell with the doctor or just not show up and not call either. Like they don't bother about calling me. But the receptionist would just play dumb and the doctor would never know why I didn't show up. In this case it could be either the doctor not informing the receptionist to call me with the CT results or the receptionist just not bothering to call me. Either way I'm going to get a satisfactory answer or a new doctor in a different clinic. This no news is good news just don't cut it with me. I paid for the doctor's visit and the test at the hospital and I'm going to get what I paid for if I have to drag a lawyer in on it. And call the AMA and complain.

Lee,

Not showing up without cancelling can result in them billing you for a missed appointment. Not a good plan. I hate that they hold us but not them responsible but they have more clout than I do so I lose. I love the story of the lawyer who billed the doctor his hourly rate for the time they kept him waiting beyond his appointment time. I used to have a boss who called the office to find out how far behind her doctor was running so she would know when to go in. I had a therapist who always ran 10 minutes behind schedule; so one day I went 10 minutes late and she was on time and upset with me for being late. Some days you can't win.

This hot stuff is dragging me down. I sit inside all day under the AC. Then when it cools at night I sit out in back of my rig and look at the stars and sing songs. I wonder if that is the reason all my neighbors moved down to the other end of the park??? This afternoon I finally decided to do something so I drove into town to go to the bank. I forgot that it was Saturday and they close at 1:00. Oh well at least I got out of my chair for a while. There is a gal in the park that has a tiny travel trailer in storage. It's been there in storage for as long as I can remember and she is to crippled up with arthritis to ever use it again. She may have forgot that she had it. I think I'll take a look at it and if it isn't in too bad condition I'll make her an offer. It would be nice to keep ready for short stays at the state parks. It wouldn't need a shower cause I'd only be using it for 3 or 4 days at a time. I'd keep my telescope in it and a change of clothing. Then all I'd have to do is go to the store and get 3 or 4 days of food and take off. I'd dump and fill with water when I returned so that it is ready to go all the time. Well, I can dream can't I.

Another scorcher today. I went out to the truck stop for dinner and when I got back the AC had stopped running and the rig was 88 degrees. I checked the breakers to no avail then played around with the thermostat. I turned it to fan only and let it run on fan a few minutes then turned it back to cool and set the thermostat as low as it will go and it started running again. I've got the temperature in the trailed back down to 80 so far but don't know what's going to happen when it cycles off. I sure hope it comes back on when the temperature starts to rise. That's about all I need right now to drive me as crazy as Steve. Next thing you know I'll be lying on my back under the rig with my feet sticking out. Sound asleep with a tape recorder playing a tape of cuss words.

We found that leaving the fan set to run constantly on low kept our AC unit from shutting down for long periods in high outside temps. It wouldn't restart for a lot longer than the normal delay to let pressures drop when the sun was baking it.

We also added some insulation under the AC cover and above the innards to try and keep the sun from adding so much heat during the day, didn't make any noticable difference.

Lee if you want to borrow the pants and boots, feel free to. Carol has it figured out now and I can't use that ruse any more. <_< Could the unit be freezing up? They sometimes do that and then it takes awhile to thaw out before they come on again. Maybe you're not using enough ice in your cranberry juice!

I finally got the report back on the CT. Just a little emphysema in left upper lobe of lung. Nothing to get too worried about. The FNP sent the disk of the CT to a specialist to review and see if I need any further treatment. I also got the physical today but will have to wait for the report on the lab work. They sent it to a lab in Albuqurque.

Yes Steve, send the pants along but put some money in the pockets, also don't forget that tape with all the cuss words on it. And after dealing with this clinic that doesn't follow up on anything some of that Baaaaaaaaaad Whiskey would come in handy.

I got the government back in the black ink again. I sent in my quarterly estimated tax today. Steve make that two jugs of that Baaaaaaad Whiskey.

Last night after it cooled down a bit I went out in back of my rig to star gaze and as usual sing if there is nothing interesting to look at. One of the cowgirls stopped by and wanted to sing with me. That was a zero. She didn't know any song that I know and Visa Versa. So I gave an Astronomy 101 by pointing out all the constellations and naming the brightest stars. She stuck around until almost 11 o'clock. It made for a very interesting evening. I hope she didn't have any other ideas cause they aren't going to work. All I'm looking for is a nurse and all the nurses are looking for purses and I'm sitting on mine.

The AC is still working fine so I guess it had just got either to hot or too cold and decided to rest a couple of hours. Just to help it out a little I washed all the filters so it could breath as easily as possible. They really were not that dirty but every little thing helps. I need to find someone to go up on the roof and take the shroud off the AC and clean all of this springs dust storms out of it. I could take it down to Jimmy's RV but he has been swamped this summer. Which is strange because most of the winter visitors are gone now. I guess we bragged about how good he was too much so now every one in the country stops here when they need something done.

The Porters are here! So good to see them. They had no problems at the border. Said the crossing guard really wanted to catch them up on the gun thing. Said he said "What? you're from Texas and you don't have guns?"

We'll feed them and sit around the fire talking about all of you and then they will be on their way. Alaska bound.

I got the results back from the Lab test for the Physical. They show every thing within normal range except BUN and a couple of other blood figures that are low indicating mild anemia. The BUN is high. That could be caused by the fact that I only have one Kidney or that I had been bleeding in the lungs or I've been eating a lot of Red Meat lately to try and replace all the blood I lost from Nose bleeds. The Receptionist called and said the results were back and I could pick them up but when I ask if the doctor had left any instructions she said no but if she sees something one of the nurses will call me. I wonder why I even bothered to have a Physical if I don't get any feed back from the doctor. I guess I'll just treat myself. It seems I'm the only one that comes up with any information or does any interpretation of the test that were taken. What are Health Care Professionals for anyway it they don't tell you anything. I have to go back Monday to have my blood pressure checked by their machine so I'll ask to see FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) that gave me the Physical

It looks like another scorcher today but they are predicting low 90's later this week. Maybe we'll get some relief. My air conditioner popped a circuit breaker while I was out to dinner last night (again). I put the Frig and Hot Water heater back on LP to see if that helps. I've noticed that during the heat of the afternoon our voltage is going down to about 110 which is high enough but if the hot water heater and frig happen to both kick on at the same time the compressor in the AC is running it could lower the AC voltage by another 10 volts or so and that would surely over heat the AC and also cause a current spike high enough to pop the breaker. Well see what happens when it gets up there to 107 again today. If that didn't take care of the problem I'll order another jug of that Baaaaaaaddd Whiskey from Steve or Joe.

Well what do you know I got a call from the Health Clinic saying the FNP had called in a prescription for me and I was to take it for 2 months then she gave me an appointment for that visit. The prescription was for Iron Sulfate so at least they are on to the anemia. She mentioned the High BUN and said they were concidering a Kidney funtion test but didn't give me an appointment for that. the mixup yesterday was because one of the other girls gave me the printouts and didn't know of the instructions. They thought I may have missed the voice message from the previous call and called me again this morning. At least I've got them following up on things which is a big improvement. Now I'll start working on their interoffice communications so that every on can get on the same page. And boy was she polite on the phone. I'll bet the receptionists got a good talking to after I unloaded on the FNP. Mayby I have found a good Medical clinic here after all. What a change.

Another day over the century mark. But not as bad as it has been. there is a breeze that helps. I sure am wishing for some low 90's so I can complain about how cold it is. Like in Viet Nham which stays about 110 until June then drops back into the 90's and every one starts wearing their field Jacket.

Hey Lee, if you need any of that Baaaad Whiskey your gonna have to wrassel with Steve. Heck someone needs to keep all them Cowgirls in line.

Hey! I would part with a "wee bit" of the baaaad whisky for a good cause!! Lee, if you took that stuff then you couldn't read the test results and wouldn't know if you were well or not. Hmmmmm. <_<

Looks like we are going to be here for a while. Carol is going to have knee replacement surgery on June 17th, so until she feels like traveling again we will stay here at the Norman Fairgrounds. Our son lives here, and was going to move to Colorado in July but the University (where he works) offered him a 20% raise to stay. I guess he and his new wife will hang around here for 3 years until she finishes her degree, then who knows. Anyway this is a good place to be parked as the doctors office is only a block from here. And our son lives about a mile away. Don't really like to spend the summer in Oklahoma, but getting Carol's knee replaced is definitely a priority!!

Cool (relatively) here today and rainy. We awoke to thunder and looks like its going to be 80 and rain most of the day. We are looking at 100% rain and storms on Sunday, so the threat of severe weather is not quite over yet. :o Joe, you need to see if another production schedule could be arranged. Maybe if they see the demand is there...... Happy travels. Steve

Nothing on the agenda for today so I guess I'll have to create something. I got called again from the health Clinic concerning the Lung specialist they sent my CT and X-ray results to. They said they had received the disk but had not evaluated it yet and that the Lung specialist would call me direct if anything need to be done. Glad to see that the Health Clinic took my gripe about not following up serious but I'll bet the receptionist don't like me a bit for shaking up the place.

Steve, tell Carol to take the exercises religiously after that Knee operation. It will hurt at first but it really pays off in the long run. Every one I've talked to that had a bad experience after the operation admitted they didn't do the exercises much because they hurt. I've had both Knees replaced and now have more range of motion than the original knee and the first replacement is going on 15 years old and is still pain free. I can't say the same about the hips though they haven't been operated on and they hurt like mad when I walk to far. Concerning the Baaaaaaadd Whiskey. It wouldn't matter about not being able to read the results after a good slug. I just wouldn't care any longer. I guess we'll have to get Joe off his duff and get another batch going. After all it's for medicinal purposes.

This is forbobsallyh. Thanks for the good reply on my brakes! Found "new" brake packing plates from E-TRAILER for $55.45 each. Then took them to my mechanic. You were 100% correct. All four wheels were soaked to the max. Grease was everywhere. Charged me for 4 cans of brake cleaner just to clean up the mess. He also found 1 outer bearing that needed to be replaced. Total cost to me was about $650.00. As I was there paying my bill, I noticed on the shelf, new brake magnets. They were listed at $50.95 each. Saved myself a ton by buying the entire assembly. I now have great brakes and a lot more peace of mind as I travel down the road. Took the time to e-mail a "nastygram" to Heartland RV. Of course I have heard nothing from them. My home is still on market for sale and just itching to sell and get outta here. Had many lookers but all with the same comment: "I'll need to sell mine first". Hope to a lot of ya'll in Q.. Again, thanks for the help! Ron

Lee, Jim did the same thing with his oncologist's office. The doctor was fantastic but a couple of the office staff left a whole lot to be desired. The doctor never got any of Jim's calls and appointments weren't set up. When the doctor came to see him in the hospital, Jim told him what he thought about the situation. Our next visit a couple of the staff were no longer there, they had implemented a new program to follow up on phone calls and it was like a whole different place. Sure glad you've been getting some good reports. Sure wish you could get out of that heat though.

Carol,

When recovering from the surgery just keep telling yourself you are now healing instead of deteriorating. And do the !!@#!$#% exercises. Including the straightening as well as bending. Not getting 100% straight is not good for lower backs. Once recovered life is wonderful again!
