Well, that's done. Today we drove into Las Vegas parked for free at Mandolay Bay and walked and walked. Pretty amazing stuff. Took loads of pictures. We almost didn't go. So glad we did.

Just so you know. Joe did get his birthday kiss and Terry reminded me he hadn't gone his either.

Skidaway was our very favourite park, ever! We spent three weeks there. Halloween in the park was unforgettable.

We have enjoyed our stay here as well. Nice big sites, good walking trails and easy into Savannah.

HAHAHAHAHAHA but you can't prove it. So did you by chance walk the "Shops at Mandalay Bay" while you were there?

Set up and parked here in Rivers Edge RV Park in Winterhaven, CA now. Will be here for roughly a month. Need a bit of Dental work done, etc. And spending time with friends from up home that winter here also. Then back up to Nevada and the Lost Wages area in December.

I drove up to city of rocks to the star party last night. On the way up. The clouds started coming in from the west. By the time I got there the sky was completely covered. So, I did a flip flop and came back home. Oh the joys of amateur astronomy. Tonight I took a couple of cowgirls out to the truck stop for dinner. Do you think I need to get a life?

Missed the Walmart in Kingman so we pushed on to Congress. The park is very empty except for boondocking. We will have to be careful with power as they do not allow generators at all. Lots of tv channels, cell phone is good but I think they have fixed it so your aircards don't work and you have to buy Tengo. Oh well.

I got an email saying the Telescope I just ordered was sent via FedEx and giving me a tracking #. So I guess this company didn't think sending something to an RV park was such a bad Idea. I should get it about Wednesday. Today was a nice day so I took a drive this afternoon just to have something to do. I didn't go anywhere in particular I just burned up some extra Fuel and enjoyed the ride and the music I was listening to. I played kitchen roulette this evening and fixed my own dinner. I guess I didn't poison myself cause I'm still here. I'm getting hitch itch so I think I'd better start working on my pre trip maintenance and be ready to roll when the bug bites.

Well, we ran Joe off. We ran Carol and Steve off and we also ran off Toni and Doug. However, guess who we're going to be meeting up with on Friday? Mary Jane Finley? Remember her? We're excited. The last time we saw her and Lee was in Florida.

Tell MJ we say hi when you see her !

Lee, we drove by the slabs the other day while taking a look at Salvation Mountain.

Say hi for us, too, please. We were with them in Mexico Beach at a different time than you were but we still had to deal with puddles. Must be the people there they liked so much. I'm so glad MJ is traveling again.

:)

I hope Poverty row didn't scare you too much. Did you go back in to the south and see the LOW compound. That's where I stay in the winter.

I didn't do much today. The group here went to the Pink store in Mexico but I never go down there. One of my cowgirl friends got me some meds while she was there today. They are cheeper than my co pay up here and work just as well. I've been sort of planning what accessories I'll be needing for that new Telescope. I hope it gets here tomorrow. That will give me time to order some additional eyepieces and a dew shield and maybe some filters. I think I'll get a sun filter. I like watching the sun spots and solar flares. Light polution is so bad here at the ranch that I won't be able to do much viewing here but I need to align it about a billion time so I can do it in the dark when I get to the slabs. I just hope I can find enough bright stars here to align it on. I might have to take it up to City of Rocks to play with it while here.

Jeri Say Hey to MJ for me.

Yup! We drove all around the place. mIts obvious that some take care of their space, and some don't. the LOW area looked really nice :)

The telescope came this evening. Now all I have to do is figure out where I'm going to store all the boxes until I'm sure the scope is OK. I'll find a place for the scope if I have to sleep with it.

One more stop, two more friends.

We are joining Sandie and Jim today in Apache Junction. We met up with Paul in Superior for lunch. Yummy, yummy burger at Porters.

Jim goes hunting tomorrow for a week and we will have Sandie to dinner tomorrow night before we head further south to Tuscon.

Put the Mr. Heater away today. Hope it stays away.

I set my telescope up tonight and did a little viewing. I set it up a little too low to the ground which made it hard to align. Then after about an hour of viewing I accidentally kicked the leg of the tripod and knocked it out of alignment. So I called it a night and took it back into the rig. I was surprised that I could see M31 the Andromeda galaxy though however I couldn't see most of the smaller faint Nebulae. There is way too much light pollution around here. I'm going to either buy a mall storage shed or make a deal with the establishment to pay for one that they need for rent free storage space with an electric hookup tossed in for myself.

Some friends I met up in Eagle Nest are here in Deming now. We went out to the Truck stop for dinner tonight and talked until I was afraid they would throw us out. It sure is nice to meet people you have met before roaming around the country. Thats what make any and every place HOME. After we came back to the rance it was a little late to set up the telescope so I went over to the bunkhouse and harassed the 31 players for a while then came back and took my spotter scope out to see if I could find the Andromedia Galaxy with It by just star hoping to find it. I lucked out and when I pointed the spotting scope up in the general direction and looked there it was right off the bat. I'll never be able to do that again in a million years. I also found M33 a more distant Galaxy in the same general area. But now I have a sore neck. Next time I'll take my lounge chair out while trying to use the spotter scope as a telescope. That sounds like it would be fun on a nice warm summer night with a couple cowgirls to help me make it through the night.

Apparently I should look at Dave's class map sometimes. I didn't realize IYQ was in Deming and I'm leaving here tomorrow. Guess my hermit tendencies are showing. Dave keeps my location updated on the map; since I don't have to do that I forget it's even there. So Lee, "Hi," and "Bye".

Seems like I've been busy all day but don't remember what I did. That couldn't be a sign of old age could it? I did go get some groceries and take a walk but that is all I can remember. One of my cowgirls brought me some homemade soup without much salt in it. Boy was it good. The only salt in it was a can of low sodium chicken broth. I better watch out. She might be setting me up and try to open my heart.

We are still touring Bryce Canyon today and will probably leave tomorrow for Page, AZ. We are having a great time with Carol's brother and he is adapting to the RV lifestyle pretty quickly. We are staying in Panguitch, UT, in the Hitching Post RV park. They give escapees a 15% discount, so we are happy campers. They also provide a fire pit with free firewood, so that works great too. Wouldn't do for all of our group to come here at once! (we know what to do with firewood)!! We are up in altitude here at Bryce, and there is snow on the ground in places, but it's still in the 60's this week in the daytime, so we lucked out on the weather. It was a nice drive out of Zion, but we did have to go through the East tunnel, or drive a long way out of our way. It costs $15 to go through the 1.1 mile tunnel as they have to close it off from other traffic to let you go down the middle. You have to unhook your toad too, although I don't think it would have been a problem to tow it through. The tunnel is 13' 1" tall in the middle, so 18 wheelers can't go through. The climb up to the tunnel has some sharp switchbacks in it, but the road is good, and not too steep. All and all it was a fun drive and the scenery was incredible, but you did have to "pay attention" to your driving! :o Carol and her brother went out early this morning for some sunrise photography, so I got I got to sleep in and take care of a little bookkeeping. We just missed our mail in Vegas, so we will have to pick it up when we take her brother back to the airport on Friday. Looks we will be going back to Sam's Town to recover from all of this sightseeing. Hmmm now to find a little breakfast somewhere around this burg!! Later Steve

We have reservations at the park just down the road from Sam's Town and plan on moving tomorrow .. if we do. However, we won't be there on Friday when you arrive. We'll be on our way to Norfolk for Justin's homecoming ... finally. I feel relieved that he's no longer sitting in that ship off the shore of Syria. Well, that is before I get back from Portland on Thursday from another grandchild's special event and before I head back up there for Thanksgiving. I really hate all the stress form working out these flights. We may flee the area after that and head towards the Phoenix area ... maybe. We were thinking a little stay at Lake Pleasant on the way. Ever been there, done that?

Lake Pleasant Regional Park is a beautiful place. Don't stay at the campground at the marina. They probably wouldn't let Duchess in and they also charge extra per animal. But we did like the Regional Park. Some sites have beautiful views of the lake.
