  1. I am guessing they are understaffed and stressed as we come out of the pandemic. It is curious when I applied for a copy that they didn't just send a copy. What was on it would be my responsibility to follow up on. Also because of the age of the RV the records may not be computerized?
  2. I would be happy with a copy of the title that included the lien holder but they they won't issue a copy period:(
  3. Update: I checked out Genius FAX and saw positive reviews. Genius FAX lets you FAX PDF or JPEG files. The documents were already on my computer so I converted them to PDF and was able to FAX from my computer and received a FAX received confirmation shortly thereafter.
  4. Thank you Kirk. I did submit an application for a certified copy VTR -34 Rev 04/19 last month but they won't issue a certified copy even with the lien holder on it?
  5. Our RV is registered in TX, we financed our it through Thor Credit Corporation in 2003 and paid it off in 2012. In our last move our Title was lost I called the Polk County Tax assessor and they do not keep any title records and refereed me to the Wichita Falls TX Regional DMV Service Center 1601 Southwest Pkwy a, Wichita Falls, TX 76302 to obtain a certified copy of our title. The service center said they don't update their files when a lien is paid and that the only receipt is the return of our title with a paid stamp. It appears that Thor Credit Corporation sold our note to Santander Consumer USA and our Experian Credit Report shows the RV loan paid, closed, never late. I went to Santander's website and found a "Title Department" phone number and was referred to https://www.getmycartitle.com/santander to request a certified copy of my title online. When doing so it said they can't find the VIN#. I called the customer service number the website referred me to and left a message for them to call me back. We have been paying the registration every April since 2003??? It is our fault we lost the title we have a buyer for the RV any suggestions? Thank you.
  6. I have rarely needed to FAX and the few times I did I just went to the UPS store. I need to send a FAX today and thought I would look into FAXing from my computer. Do you FAX from your laptop? If yes how do you do it? Do you use an APP? Is their a fee? Is it secure? Thank you

  8. Thank you all for your comments, ideas, suggestions and additional questions you have been very helpful.
  9. How do you watch TV? Recently a satellite serviceman said satellite TV will be phased out, everything will be streamed. This is what I understand so far: You need an internet connection and then a device on your TV ie ROKU or Firestick or?? Then you need and APP ie Paramount+, Hulu, Netflix You can't record like a DVR but can watch most anything on their menu at any time You can pay for an upgraded service to have fewer commercials Any tips or tricks, recommended apps or hardware appreciated...

  11. We spent 4 summers here in Show Low AZ: https://juniperridgeresort.com/ They are deeded lots so you have to rent from the owner. Here is a partial list of current rentals available: https://www.juniperridgerealestate.com/rental/ As the season is upon us they will go fast.

  13. Thank you’s. When I was growing up, and dirt was new, my mom started me in the habit of writing Thank You notes. Nothing fancy, just a quick acknowledgement of a gift, gesture or service I had received. Even retired for 20 years I still keep a package of blank note cards and with the plethora of dollar $ stores near by a variety of unique cards in my computer bag. As technology advances I now include email or text options to say thank you. I sent a thank you to a young man that maintains a website I use frequently and he told me he was pleasantly surprised and that I made his day. As we ease “back to normal” I am sure you could “make a lot of days” without taking a lot of time by sending a thank you email/text to someone that has shown you kindness or assisted you today.
  14. Interesting article. One of the complaints listed from the 70's attempt was: "Many parents and teachers oppose the idea of darker winter mornings, which could put children’s safety at risk. When year-round DST was last used in the 1970s, many Americans criticized sending kids to school in the dark." IMHO after the Pandemic Winter of isolation people are rethinking a lot of things. DST affects people differently based on their age and occupation. Also now that people have tasted the convenience of working from home and employers benefiting from the cost savings there will be many more changes down the road. "Schools Start Too Early: Learn how starting school later can help adolescents get enough sleep and improve their health, academic performance, and quality of life. Adolescents and Sleep The American Academy of Sleep MedicineCdc-pdfExternalpdf iconexternal icon recommends that teenagers aged 13 to 18 years should regularly sleep 8 to 10 hours per day for good health. Adolescents who do not get enough sleep are more likely to Be overweight. Not engage in daily physical activity. Suffer from symptoms of depression. Engage in unhealthy risk behaviors such as drinking, smoking tobacco, and using illicit drugs. Perform poorly in school. During puberty, adolescents become sleepy later at night and need to sleep later in the morning as a result in shifts in biological rhythms.1 These biological changes are often combined with poor sleep habits (including irregular bedtimes and the presence of electronics in the bedroom).2 During the school week, school start times are the main reason students wake up when they do.3 The combination of late bedtimes and early school start times results in most adolescents not getting enough sleep. 16. If anyone is serious about putting daylight saving time in your rear view mirror the only way we can eliminate Daylight Saving Time is: To write your senator TODAY https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm AND write to the Secretary of Transportation: Pete Buttigieg https://www.transportation.gov/contact-us Latest Updates (March 2021) In March 2021, a bipartisan bill called the “Sunshine Protection Act of 2021” was submitted for consideration in the U.S. Senate. The bill aims to end the time change and make DST permanent across the United States. Bottom-line, the bill would simply negate the need for Americans to change their clocks twice a year. The bill has been co-sponsored by eight senators—both Democrats and Republicans—so chances are good that it will at least be considered. If you support this change, consider contacting your state’s senators to let them know! SOURCE: https://www.almanac.com/content/stopping-daylight-saving-time Most States Now Want to End the DST Switch As of April 2020, 32 states had proposed legislation to make daylight saving permanent to save more sunshine year-round, while eight other states had passed bills to keep an extra hour of sleep by not “springing forward” every March. However, such changes must be approved by Congress, which has remained reluctant to spend time changing time. The Uniform Time Act of 1966 and later amendments to the daylight saving time law state that the Department of Transportation is "authorized and directed to foster and promote widespread and uniform adoption and observance of the same standard of time within and throughout each such standard time zone." However, the transportation secretary also has the authority to grant exceptions to states whose legislatures request them. Secretary of Transportation: Pete Buttigieg Web Address: http://www.transportation.gov/ Currently, two states and four territories have received waivers to opt-out of observing Daylight Saving Time and the legislatures of several other states from Alaska to Texas to Florida have at least considered doing so. Especially in the so-called “hot weather states,” proponents of opting out of Daylight Saving Time argue that doing so helps reduce the effects of the economic and health consequences that come with longer day lengths — including increases is traffic accidents, heart attacks, workplace injuries, crime, and overall energy consumption — while improving residents’ quality of life during dark fall and winter months. 17. One size never fits all and all things in moderation; nothing can be solved in 280 characters. I recently read the book/listened to the audio version False Alarm: How Climate Change Panic Costs Us Trillions, Hurts the Poor, and Fails to Fix the Planet, July 14, 2020 by Bjorn Lomborg. There are lots of ideas out their to protect our environment with a combination of power sources, not just one, without eliminating jobs and still living comfortably and successfully. This book shares several examples of good intentions in the realm of green energy going asunder when special interests verses the greater good stepped in. The biggest takeaway I found was that all the scientific studies do not take into account the ability of humans to adapt, their figures are based on nothing being done to protect our future between now and and whatever year they choose. "Enough, argues bestselling author Bjorn Lomborg. Climate change is real, but it's not the apocalyptic threat that we've been told it is. Projections of Earth's imminent demise are based on bad science and even worse economics. In panic, world leaders have committed to wildly expensive but largely ineffective policies that hamper growth and crowd out more pressing investments in human capital, from immunization to education." The quadrupling of the price of oil by OPEC nations was indeed a shock for France because at that time most of its electricity came from oil burning plants. France had and still has very few natural energy resources. It has no oil, no gas and her coal resources are very poor and virtually exhausted. 20. We have friends in Indio and visited often. They have since left California as many have so it may be a good time to buy. Have not been in that specific park but the reviews are pretty good rated 4.6 out of 5 https://tinyurl.com/1q1jl6cs and 8.3 out of 10 https://tinyurl.com/4ng3xd7w It looks really nice when we have driven by. The location has easy access to 111 and 10. With the onset of the pandemic it is really nice to have a sure thing in the winter. Also with the pandemic MANY people have discovered RVing great for RV sales but somewhat reducing the availability of RV sites for a while. The Medical care in the area is top notch according to our friends. The music concerts ie Cochella and Stagecoach and sporting events at The Tennis Center have huge winter events bringing in LOTS of people, traffic etc. The golfing is great as is the shopping. There is lots to do in the area during the winter. Summer is HOT. We were full time for 12 years, then bought a sticks and bricks for winter due to health issues and traveled part time int he summer for 5 years, then bought an RV lot for summers which we really enjoyed; HOA and all but will be selling it this summer as health issues are further limiting our travels so we will be downsizing. I don't think you would have a hard time selling your Palms Springs area RV lot if you decided it wasn't for you after you tried it. Nothing ventured nothing gained..."In the end, regrets rarely come from things done but from things not even tried". Safe Travels and Good luck whichever you decide.
  21. 2021 Cost of Living Calculator https://www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/livingston-tx/east-los-angeles-ca/50000 Cost of Living scores and indexes are a way to compare the overall price of goods and services between different areas of the United States. The national average is 100, so when you look at a place’s COL Index you can instantly see how much more or less you’ll have to pay to live there. If a place has a cost of living index of 135, then it is 35% more expensive to live there than the national average. If a place has a cost of living index of 85, then it is 15% cheaper than the average for the entire country. The biggest factor in Cost of Living is housing costs – buying a house or apartment, or renting one. You get a custom cost of living comparison that includes housing, food, utilities, transportation, healthcare costs (including premiums and common surgeries), taxes, and child care prices.

As the original poster sharing an article stated: "Restricting the purchase of all firearms to residents of a state will impact many living the fulltime lifestyle." He was contributing information that could be of use to many fulltime RVers. As with all topics in this forum they don't necessarily apply to all.
