  1. I just got a post in one of my other groups and thought I would share here. The weather feature of the ACTIVE button is back on DirecTV channel 362 when you press the RED button.
  2. UPDATE: Today 7 Days after the recipient received the notice that certified mail was available for him to pick up the letter was located in the office it was sent to. The PO was extremely apologetic. My only hope is that whatever happened to it will be fixed so it won't happen again. Thankfully this situation is now in my rear view mirror. Safe Travels All...
  3. A RV park we stayed in last summer was in a rural area and the town so small they don't have enough postal employees to do deliveries so they sub contract delivery to non postal employees to deliver in the outlying areas.
  4. Postal employees have physically looked on two separate occasions for the letter. The tracking shows it was last scanned and received at the Spring TX post office and the business has received their mail in a PO Box there for several years. The business receive the slip in their mail box that they have a certified letter waiting for them. So where ever they store certified mail for pick up is where it got lost in that office. Hopefully it wasn't given to another customer.
  5. Thank you for the positive thoughts. Unfortunately time is of the essence so I will have to recreate my documents and resend. I doubt I will get a refund on the certified mail "service" or acknowledgement for my inconvenience. I am glad your camera transaction was a success. Being an optimist ... I rarely have to use the US mail and as technology advances, at what seems like the speed of light, it will eventually be a thing of the past as most documents will be processed electronically and products will eventually all be shipped by companies other that the USPS. Interesting stats on Amazon, Fedex, UPS and USPS: https://www.axios.com/amazon-shipping-chart-fedex-ups-usps-0dc6bab1-2169-42a8-9e56-0e85c590eb89.html Who would of ever thought we'd pay for products with a cell phone ie Apple Pay or Android Pay, technology is progressing at the speed of light.:)
  6. Yes the recipient received the notice from their post office. They also provided all the tracking stops along the way to assist in locating it. They checked with them again this morning 1-10-2020 and it is still now found nor does the post office update the online tracking to show that someone checked in to pick it up. It would appear that any stats from the Post Office are questionable as they don't keep transactions current. I have contacted two of the postmasters involved this morning and have not heard back from them. The item was last scanned in the Spring TX post office where it was to be picked up. So it is somewhere in the Spring TX post office.
  7. I sent a letter via certified mail on January 2nd, 2020 to be able to confirm the recipients receipt. On January 7th 2020 the recipient went to the post office to pick it up and the clerk couldn't find it??? I located the postmasters of the offices listed on the tracking site and am contacting them to see if they could assist. So far no luck Has anyone here had experience with trying to locate missing certified mail? I took a long shot and also checked my escapees mail to see if they by any chance had sent it back to my return address, and it wasn't there.
  8. Just wondering how many existing Plan F users changed to Plan G or stayed in Plan F this past enrollment period? https://www.ehealthinsurance.com/medicare/supplement-all/is-medicare-supplement-plan-f-going-away Is Medicare Supplement Plan F being discontinued? Apparently so, for some people. According to congress.gov, starting in 2020, Medicare Supplement plans that pay the Medicare Part B deductible will no longer be sold to those newly eligible. This change is part of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). If you already have Medicare Supplement Plan F (or Plan C, which also covers the Part B deductible), you can generally keep it. If you were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, you may be able to buy Medicare Supplement Plan F or Plan C. If you qualify for Medicare on January 1, 2020 or later, you may not be able to buy Medicare Supplement Plan F or Plan C. Medicare Supplement Plan F: how much is the deductible in question? The Medicare Part B deductible, which is the deductible amount involved in the MACRA legislation, can change every year. In 2019, it’s $185. That’s the amount you have to pay before Part B pays for covered services. Is there another Medicare Supplement plan that may be comparable? If you become eligible for Medicare in 2020 or later, although you may not be able to buy Medicare Supplement Plan F or Plan C, you may be able to buy a very similar plan. Medicare Supplement Plan G generally has the same basic benefits as Plan F, except for the Part B deductible. A high-deductible version of Plan G might become available in 2020, according to Oregon.gov. So, you might want to look into Plan G.
  9. Each states licensing and qualifications for practicing medicine is different. I found this site helpful in looking up medical practitioners: https://www.healthguideusa.org/medical_license_lookup.htm Also google the Dr for reviews, you do have to read between the lines as each individuals expectations are different. Here is one source for Dr reviews: https://www.healthgrades.com/ Here is a link to Yelp Dr's in Mcallen: https://www.yelp.com/c/mcallen/physicians Good luck with your search and looking forward to you sharing your your findings here.
  10. We have been making some trips away from our RV and confess we like to watch TV but hate commercials so looking into something we can carry with us to put in rentals to record shows and replay without commercials. I will look into portable DVR's that we might be able to connect to the TV where we stay. Thank you for the suggestions.
  11. Usually if it sounds to good to be true it is.....I just saw an infomercial for HD Free Unlimited Antenna: https://www.hdfreeunlimited.com/?mid=11026678&gclid=CjwKCAiAzuPuBRAIEiwAkkmOSDZHDYjYnYEkGw3xGUiLpcRxRkK8_XJV-Vkt8r-4mTBPn1NUcKpxlxoCHhIQAvD_BwE Has anyone tried this? What is the catch?
  12. Each states licensing and qualifications for practicing medicine is different. We have visited Dr's and Dentists in several states and learn you should not assume anything. On one occasion I injured my shoulder and used the site to eliminate two dr's that had board actions for DUI's. Another time while looking for a dentist one had board actions against the license for performing procedures on city employees and their children without prior authorization. 14. Teething.....Keep um busy. I started her young teaching her to fetch and we would toss a ball or a toy for her to retrieve everyday. We had/have a plethora of toys, chews and treats available in her toy box. TJ Max, Marshalls, Costco/Sams and Ross are good sources of discounted toys. The only thing she chewed was the back of an oak end table when she was around 4 mos old. Someone told us to put hot sauce on it but we found out she loved hot sauce. Being in the small confines of an RV we were able to keep an eye on her and kept her entertained with toys and lots of walks. (Thankfully she is not a door dasher) We also used our baby gate outside so she could get used to being off leash but staying near us and to get her used to lots of distractions from others in the rv parks. Until she was able to jump over the gate we also had play dates with other puppies in the park to help with her socialization. The gate took up quite a bit of space and some parks don't allow them.
  15. As you have had several dogs you probably know and have everything you already need. We never had a puppy and got our first one , a Springer Spaniel, on the road and am sure I have gone overboard but she has replaced the kids LOL LOL We used a crate for 8 months inside a baby gate around the kitchen tile in the RV. We took the baby gate down around 5 months and at 8 months we only used the crate when we were driving and got her a dog bed for inside the RV. When driving we just use a padded harness attached to the seat belt. I keep a pair of rubber slip on shoes and a flashlight/whistle by the door and for the first couple of months; took her out every couple of hours or whenever she sat by the door and we never had an accident in the fiver. We also got her chipped and a black collar with neon green reflective embroidered name and my phone number. Knock on wood she has never wandered off and is not a door dasher but just in case I could be called if we are separated. I use a 26 foot retractable reflective tape leash to increase visibility. (not corded, as they can amputate an appendage if you or the dog get tangled up in it) I also have a saddle bag on the leash handle to hold waste bags and treats when bribery is needed. On one occasion a neighbor's puppy got out and was running in front of cars in the dark. I put my flash light in flasher mode to get the drivers attention and used the treats to capture the puppy. When she was about a year she started to like chasing after golf carts, bicycles or motorcycles in the park, so I got a vibrating neck collar, i don't use electric shocks as the sound and motion are enough to get her attention and she listens to my commands. After two times I didn't even need to put on the collar just show her the remote or the collar and she ceased. On one occasion I just showed her my cell phone and it had the same effect. (she thought it looked like the remote control) My favorite discovery was Chewy. https://www.chewy.com/ She is now on prescription food and they keep the RX on file and ship in two days wherever we are. Very convenient. When we are in more remote locations I use a walking stick as I have been charged while walking my dog on two separate occasions. One was a pit bull and lab that got loose, fortunately some other hikers were near by and scared them off. The other occasion 2 German Shepards got away from their owner. That time I had my walking stick and just made myself look big till the owner got the dogs. Congrats on your new fur baby, enjoy.
  16. Thank you for the suggestion, it appears broader that I am looking for but will keep it in mind.
  17. Thank you, Facebook is always changing I will look into that. My goal is to find an electronic space to communicate and store photos and files for a finite group.
  18. Yes the groups are changing effective December 14th, 2019, emails will still be available but uploading photos and files will no longer be an option according to the each Yahoo Group home page : Attention: Starting December 14, 2019 Yahoo Groups will no longer host user created content on its sites. New content can no longer be uploaded after October 28, 2019. Sending/Receiving email functionality is not going away, you can continue to communicate via any email client with your group members.
  19. I just visited one of my Yahoo Group’s home page and found this announcement: Attention: Starting December 14, 2019 Yahoo Groups will no longer host user created content on its sites. New content can no longer be uploaded after October 28, 2019. Sending/Receiving email functionality is not going away, you can continue to communicate via any email client with your group members. The announcement refers users to this link https://help.yahoo.com/kb/groups/SLN31010.html?impressions=true *** I really enjoyed Yahoo Groups for my various group discussions and am sorry to see it go. I am not a fan of Facebook because anyone can add anyone to the group. With the Yahoo groups there was an owner and a moderator (s) that screened new subscribers to make sure they were looking for the right group and also kept the discussions on topic with the group description/mission statement. Does anyone have some suggestions for a replacement to continue the Yahoo Group type of communications? Thank you. ***Here is a summary of the links contents: Understand what's changing in Yahoo Groups Yahoo has made the decision to no longer allow users to upload content to the Yahoo Groups site. Beginning October 28 you won't be able to upload any more content to the site, and as of December 14 all previously posted content on the site will be permanently removed. You'll have until that date to save anything you've uploaded. What features will go away? What will happen to the site? What will happen on October 28? How can I keep my Yahoo Groups content? Will I be able to use Yahoo Groups going forward? In a nutshell I understand that we will still be able to email the group but no photos or files etc. will be uploaded. If there are any files, photos or other content on the site that you would like to save from the group please download it to your computer before December 14th, 2019.
  20. Our vehicles are registered in Texas and we have purchased vehicles in Oregon and North Carolina while on the road and the bookkeeper in each dealership was familiar with out of state registrations, downloaded the forms and completed them for us; very helpful. Most recently we purchased a new tow vehicle in Arizona and will not do that again. The salesman was great but the bookkeeper incompetent, never had any customer service training or just plain didn't like his job. I understand the purpose of e-title but it is most inconvenient for the purchaser and especially and out of state purchase. We eventually received our refunds and paperwork thanks to Livingston. There are several states that use E-title: https://santanderconsumerusa.com/support/faqs/i-have-been-informed-my-title-is-electronic-what-does-that-mean I would recommend the Costco Auto program to purchase a new vehicle. I hate the back an forth with the salesmen, always have. Since this was the first time we tried Costco, on the recommendation of another Escapee, we went to another dealer first to compare pricing then went to the Costco authorized dealer. The Costco dealer asked us what we wanted, showed us several vehicles then showed us the price of the one we wanted no negotiation necessary and $1,000 less that the other dealer and in a lot less time. DH loves the back and forth but was very happy with the Costco program convenience. Also Costco gives various discounts on accessories and service after the sale. We added several things to our truck at substantial savings.
  21. Thank you Kirk, good to know. Safe Travels,
  22. I received a notice that my drivers license is due to renew in 2 years. If I don't have a gold star in the upper right hand corner then it is not compliant with the REAL ID act. I don't plan to fly but do have a current passport so don't see any reason to renew before my renewal date? Have you renewed your TEXAS drivers license or are you planning to renew before October 1st, 2020? I am surprised that I don't have the gold star as I remember having to renew in person and show my birth certificate, social security card, passport vehicle registration and vehicle insurance but I see i renewed it last in 2014 before the 2016 date to initiate the program. https://www.dhs.gov/real-id
  23. This discussion has branched out from my original post "RV'ers and Prescription Refills? and provided much food for thought. Thank you. I found this article that may answer some questions about seniors health "Patients over 60? Screen for STIs" (Disease and Infections are used interchangeably) With the increased availability and use of the internet combined with the casualizing of social norms over the last century, information now travels at the speed of light and some topics never dreamed of being discussed in a Dr's office let alone in public are now daily headlines. A few years ago while taking mom to her dr in Florida he made the comment that he has a high volume of patients (retirees from all over the US) that were products of the 60's having smoked pot and experimented with recreational drugs.
  24. Our HOA has decided to create a community Facebook page and in doing so they have found two page tabs on the home page that they do not want "Join this List" and "Community". I found this link Constant Contact Knowledge Base for how to remove the "Join the List" as I was concerned the data base for lot owners informatio that the HOA uses, Constant Contact, would get connected to the page potentially compromising lot owners information. I don't have Admin access to the page but the one who does has not had success so I thought I would try to learn about Facebook to assist. The other tab (Community) the Admin has had no has luck finding how to remove it and after I found this article*** I was concerned that Facebook could possibly take over the page. I can't imagine that our small 528 lot RV community would have "thousands of fans" but you never know? ***“Now, initially, your new Community Page will look, feel and function exactly the same as an Official Page. The big challenge, though, is if your Community Page becomes “very popular;” that is, “attracting thousand of fans.” As Facebook says, you will lose all admin rights and your Community Page will automatically be converted into a Facebook-administered, Wikipedia-type Community Page.” Source: https://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/facebook-community-pages-what-your-business-needs-to-know/ Thought I would try this group to see if anyone here might have some work arounds for either the "Join this List" or "Community" tabs removal? Thank you.
