  1. hahahaha, Barb. Report back when you no longer get your science from the evening news. and try looking at the history of climate change. (hint: its been changing since before humans existed). weather is what you have locally (eg seattle to make this relate to you); climate is what happens on a much larger scale. important not to confuse them.
  2. Was a relatively cool summer in the southern Appys. And i just read an article on Antarctica having the coldest winter ever and missing the coldest day ever by only 1 degree. When i see both sides on this i recall the phrase 'lies, damned lies, and statistics'. Climate Changes- thats what it has done for billions of years. When someone can explain how raising my taxes so the goobermint can spend more freely, THEN call me back.
  3. Interesting information on traveling with birds. Thanks to all for sharing your stories- i never would have thought about it if not for this thread. Tho what surprises me is the lack of comments on the OP's plan to have 12 cats aboard too. !
  4. All you need to stream is a computer with internet access and a TV. And you only need a TV if you dont want to watch the program on your computer screen. Thats it. There are several free streaming services out there (we like Pluto the best for our needs) but if you want certain channels, youll have to subscribe to a package that gets them. That will obviously vary in cost. What we do is stream the free services mostly, pay if its a live event that we HAVE to watch live, and get the rest from the torrent stream the next day. And spend the rest of our time watching Elon prepare to disrupt the entire cable industry. Go Elon!
  5. Longtime USA Nord user here and i have to say I LOVE it. I mostly got it for privacy/security but i also like logging in locally to events around the world (Aussie Rules!).
  6. If the above excellent answers still leave you with questions, may i suggest searching on youtube. There seems to be a HowTo on about everything on there.
  7. Reread the ENTIRE original posting please. My response is NOT out of context. Again, my experience is in contrast to what was stated in the OP. Also again, if you want to argue with others, feel free. But the FACT remains that an Escapee's park near me was not full at the time when i visited. And i see that you always ignore that fact and try to divert your criticism onto other parks which i have no information on.
  8. Lou, if you will look at the OP you will see that he did not limit his statement to any "type" of Escapees park. He posted "All the escspee parks are full with multi-year waiting lists." This is simply not true. My statement stands. If you wish to discuss occupancy levels at all of the various Escapees parks, you'll have to do it with others as i have only driven by the one lately.
  9. Agree with "the sky is falling" post on p1. fwiw, i drove by a local Escapees park in TN last week and while busy, it was far from full. Speculation and opinions are wonderful, but lets dont present them as facts.
  10. What is the matter with people these days. And this a grown man.
  11. Whats your budget, both for purchase and ongoing rv expenses?
  12. https://www.teslarati.com/elon-musk-starlink-ipo-retail-investors-update/ The geofencing is apparently to control the # of users in an area so that they dont overwhelm the system in the short run. When enough satellites are operational, it will be removed. Exciting times we live in.
  13. Of my last 3 vehicles, 2 of them sold within a week of posting them at my favorite local repair shop bulletin board.
  14. No personal experience, but i have read several postings on various RV sites/forums that say that the Flex Seal stuff comes loose after about 6 months in the weather. They do fun commercials tho.
  15. I dont know about today's formulation, but adding fire to wasp spray would have been VERY effective against most anything back when i was younger. And yeah, its a a wonder i survived to get out of my teens. I know that today's spray is much less toxic, and i would assume that they cut out the flammability if possible. You know, to protect the children. ((from having any fun))
  16. No. Even products labeled soley as 'pepper spray' will have different formulations/proportions. If you want to start a cop fight, get one to tell the other that his spray works better than anyone elses.
  17. Folks, listen to Wayne. I have reviewed his posts in this thread and found them to be 100% accurate within the scope of my experience. Kirk, glad you didnt take it wrong. I think the average RV might not even be able to move if it contained every gadget available. We all have different personal situations and preferences- whats right for one person may not even be a consideration for another. There arent many things that are Right or Wrong for everyone. I will add that audio recording consent varies from state to state. I sure dont want to go down that rabbit hole.
  18. Truth there ^^^^^. In my LEO training, one of the things we were required to do was to take a small dose of a pepper/tear spray and continue to fight our partner thru the haze. And none of us were hopped up on drugs. iirc, our instructor said that about 15% of the population isnt effected enough to make a significant difference.
  19. Kirk, i'm sorry if i have offended you in some way. that was certainly not my intent. I was only answering your question on the basis of my experience. I in no way attempted to suggest that anyone do anything, especially something they didnt want to do. I hope everyone will take my posts in that spirit. fwiw, i was a deputy in a small southern community for 12 years and was answering based on my experiences in court.
  20. Kirk, i cant site a specific case, but yes i have seen it in court where a video makes the court decision. When it crops up, it carries a TON of weight. Same as other crime video footage. But mostly, the mere existence of dashcam video causes the party at fault to never let it get to court if possible.
  21. Legally it can be seized as evidence at the scene or via warrant at the tow trucks storage site if you had to be towed. There are chain of custody issues in the latter case, but odds are it will be admissible. If you drive crazy, you might not want one. But otherwise, i think they are a good thing to have. i have 2, one on the dash and one on the rear window of my truck. Nowdays, a single unit will often to both directions.
  22. Whew! I thought i had done something wrong and was racking my brain trying to figure out how i'd made someone mad.
  23. ime, tire wear varies a lot based on many things. Proper inflation being #1, but driving style is a solid #2. Only once have i gotten the advertised mileage out of a set (i err on the side of caution on when to replace). 25k on a factory set of tires, i would call it good and get a new set. Sometimes the factory puts on a great set, but those are almost always included in the sales pitch for the pricey add-ons.
  24. I've heard of people burning TP in the campfire but that was decades ago. This question honestly shocked me. Yeah, just look for septic safe. And plenty of water is always good advice (unless its short).
  25. Many many years ago i took a class in Hydrology/Meteorology and had to do LOTS of calculations on how water changes phases under all kinds of different conditions. Short answer is what youve already read here: moisture forms on surfaces when the warm air comes into contact with a surface cold enough that the air no longer can hold the vapor. So it condenses/changes state from vapor to liquid- usually onto windows and walls in a RV. Some things you can do: - keep it hotter inside - keep the air moving along cold surfaces (via fans or keeping the bath vents open a bit to create a natural flow) -run a dehumidifier (non reusable puck types dont really do much ime) I do all 3, just depending on specific conditions that day. If i'm paying for the propane but not the electricity then its Hello Mr Ceramic Heaters! If i am paying for both, then its whatever is convenient (they are both about the same cost for me). I also run small fans during the night at the more susceptible areas, eg where normal air flow is restricted (behind a couch, etc). I also have a EVAdry sized to my RV and i do think it makes quite a difference. I run the drip hose but if you do that, be sure to keep an eye on your waste tanks' levels. I should add that its very rare for me to be camping when temps are <20F. ((btw, if you get an EVADry, get the hose from them too- its a size thats hard to find at your local or big box hardware store))
