  1. I have been looking for better size boxes. I carry around one of my bags to try them out. Most just have too much dead space so are inefficient. I'll keep hunting. At this point, I am still leaning to the hole in the bag and a ring. I don't like the rings as I have found they can open up. I did see on Amazon something a bit different than the rings. A short cable where both ends screw together. But I am not sure that won't unscrew from vibration. I don't want to put locktite on it since I pull all my threads for a project. Well, I have a couple of months before I need a solution. Thanks for the input.
  2. I know we are a creative bunch of people and need a solution for my embroidery floss. We are getting ready to go full-time. We have been long-time for many years. In our new MH the upper cabinets are not tall enough to store the drawers I use for my embroidery floss. I keep all my floss in baggies and have all 400+ colors. I am thinking about punching holes in the corners of the bags and putting them on a ring and then into plastic boxes that fit into the MH. Not thrilled with the solution and was wondering if anyone had a better solution. I want to keep the threads in bags, no bobbins or anything along those lines. Thanks
  3. Our MH came with a Maytag stacked washer/dryer. Nothing special. We had it removed since we wanted the storage space. We do laundry once a week, kind of a forced down day is the way we look at it. Once in a while I would like a washer/dryer but just a passing thought. We saw several problems with having a washer/dryer: loss of significant storage; dryer time long due to being 110 vs 220; vibration/noise in the rig; need to have hookups to do laundry(at least a sewer). To each his own.
  4. That's internal rate. External is significantly higher. I know it's cheap but it sure stops me from buying and doing all sorts of things. I've used that number for years and it has worked out well.
  5. Pound wise and penny foolish. I bill myself out at $10/hour, the time to clean the hose each day is more than what I would save. Especially if it rainy or 30 degrees or very windy.............
  6. We probably get 5-6 years from our Rhino hose. I don't remember when we replaced it last. We use it once a week to dump and store it away the rest of the time. We use our tanks. Maybe someone can answer a question that we have always had. Why do people need to hook up the elec, water and sewer each night? Unless it is dumping day, we just use electricity each night and even if we are dumping we put everything away after dumping. I am not talking about small trailers but MHs and big trailers that have plenty of tank capacity. We like to just get up and go in the morning. Minimize the AM packing up, generally on the road by 8 AM.
  7. x2 on the manual pull. The day I can't pull down a shade is the day I give up RVing. We currently have MCD shades in our MH and they are nice, have had no problems with them in 2 years. The price of MCDs would make it a big decision to go that way for us.
  8. Be aware that cell blinds collect bugs in the cells...Better tell DW this before you go ahead..................
  9. My DW is on your DW's side. We bought mini-blinds. Just go to HD or Lowes and they cut to width. Problem is(at least when we bought them years ago) they are too long so you need to spend some time shortening them. Not a big deal for a happy DW.
  10. Though we are a couple I am curious as to volunteering opportunities for a single. All the opportunities seem to be for couples.
  11. "I've tried turning the temp. down in zone 1, but all that does is make the heater blow longer when it blows" This makes no sense. If you set the temperature to 55 why would it run longer? Should turn off at 55. Have you read your manuals? I haven't had a 5th wheel in about 10 years. I don't know how the furnace forced air system works with 2 zones, didn't even know that was available. In our 2 year old MH we have a thermostat in the LR and in the BR. When running the forced air the only thermostat that controls the furnace is the LR. The BR controls the heat pump in the AC unit and only that, has nothing to do with the forded air heat system.
  12. North Phoenix. I asked at my quilting group and they had encountered the same problem.
  13. Yesterday I decided to contact a dentist about a teeth cleaning. We are in AZ. First, trying to get an appt. in a reasonable length of time seems to be a challenge. I was thinking in a week or 2, the 2 dentists I contacted didn't have any appts. for 6-8 weeks. The other challenge was that my dental insurance would cover everything except panoramic xrays(only once every 3 years). Well AZ has a state law that requires a full dental work up, including panoramic xrays for all new patients I have had dental work in 2-3 states and have never encountered anything like this. Has this become the norm?
  14. The one thing I do like, though it costs $1, is the ability to put the forward in online. I then get emails back confirming everything and I think I even get an email near the end of the forward saying it will be stopping. So much easier than going the the PO and getting a form etc. I also usually do my forward 1-2 weeks before we are leaving to make sure everything is working as anticipated.
  15. Be careful with "held" mail. It is another gotcha. We were away 3 weeks and had our mail held. All they held is the first class mail, all the junk mail was still delivered to our mail box. It was stuffed full. When we forward our mail it is mostly medical bills. I don't understand the medical profession. You can pay your bill online but they can't/won't bill you online. That is basically the only mail that ends up being forwarded now.
  16. It id a Dirt Devil. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Products-9880-Central-Vacuum/dp/B01HFJB83Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1476388287&sr=8-2&keywords=dirt+devil+rv++vacuum Literally lifts up the carpet in the bedroom. DH has to vacuum, I can't push it on the carpet too long. Maybe yours is installed wrong? We had the same one in another rv and it was just as effective. '
  17. We installed a central vac system ourselves. Has almost too much power. Just love it, has small footprint in cabinet under sink(sink is on an island)
  18. We just got a little off topic. One thing that drove me crazy in TX was the sales tax. Each county/town had a different tax instead of one tax for the entire state. This came into play whenever we ordered online. Had to call and tell the vendor we were in the county and not the city, 2% difference in tax. Returns were another challenge also. If you didn't return in the same taxing area they wouldn 't credit you the correct tax. Sure hope they have sorted that out at least.
  19. Someplace I read that essentially the taxes are about the same in all states, just which bucket it is taken from. We move from TX to VA. Real estate taxes a lot less, even with pp tax thrown in, low sales tax, have income tax. $$ works out about the same, quality of life much better from our viewpoint. Weather definitely better.
  20. Wow, TX has high registration fees..............We live in VA and just paid $133 for 3 years on our MH.
  21. x3 Flojet is/was actually a pump mfg. company so they know their business.
  22. After 3 failures of the Shurflow in 1 year we went to Flojet and never had a problem again. Shurflow are pieces of junk.
