  1. I'm not in Arizona for the summer heat wave but in SE Missouri. There certainly is humidity in addition to the heat. I have a single ODU (Outdoor unit) and two IDU's (Indoor units). I don't have a lot of windows, but I do have a few and certainly would have less if I were to build another trailer. Actually I would probably more aggressively investigate the possibility of having "Horse Trailer" like windows over a conventional window. You know the kind you see on the horse trailers on the road that are hanging down and open when the horses are being transported in the warm weather and closed when it's cold out. I'd turn them upside down and only use them when parked as a awning and keep them closed while on the road or during inclement weather protecting my glass. Potentially could do this as a retrofit someday I guess. Now back to the Mini Split. I have finally figured out how to use both of my IDU's and not have it wake me up in the middle of the night. I have to keep the larger unit (18000 btu) in the garage end of my home set at a lower temperature than the smaller (9000 btu) unit in my bed/living room. If I try to put the living area unit at a lower temperature I am bothered about a very high pitched squeal that seemed to come at 3AM when I first started using the Mini Split system. After a full month here in Missouri I'm happy to say my sleep has not been disturbed by the Mini Split. Depending on the location my electric bill has ranged from $18 per month to $40. With the highest I was also allowing electricity to heat my water. At the lowest I would use my gas as an instant heat. It only takes 5 minutes for me to be able to take a comfortable shower after flipping the switch to light the burner. When it's on electric I just leave it on. I haven't tried to find out how long it would take with just turning the electric portion on. On arrival to a new spot I sometimes use both, not for any good reason it seems today. I started this message a few days ago and thought it was lost. Came back to redo it and found the prior written part still there. Will have to remember that. Rod
  2. Kirk, My account used to reimburse my debit card fees, if I would use it at least a certain number of times per month. I always did, but the decided to remove the reimbursement anyway. It used to be a small hometown bank that had great service and great people. Now it's a Larger Regional Bank that cares nothing about the people and only about the money. The tellers who had been there for years are all gone and it seems they can't keep any of the new ones. I will move once I find a location where I may be for a few years. Right now I plan to continue to move and change my thoughts of pulling cash with each purchase instead of a lump sum when I think I will need it. Now to find the hiding places and remembering them too. Rod
  3. Have to wait for the last deadline before knowing if I will be working or not during the event. Will attend for at least a day if I am within a reasonable motorcycle ride. Rod
  4. With the 4 door Crosstrek I am able to open the door and exit. There is a bit of body contortion, but so far doable. My previous Isuzu VehiCross required me to exit through the drivers door window. One time I was able to squeeze out between the door and car, but my mild claustrophobia prevented me from additional attempts. The Crosstrek is more difficult to use the over the tire straps I had used for years with the VX so I have found a better and actually easier method to secure the rear wheels. It's still tough to tie down the right front. Rod
  5. Same people who build the huge offices, and fancy buildings. What about the salaries paid to a CEO and others. I resent your suggestion that I am not paying my bank enough to be convenient to me. It's not "My bank who is charging me." It's just a game to them. How much can we charge the customer before they try someone else? Banks make money on their deposits, loans and investments. They spend lot's of money on advertisements, big buildings, executive salaries. Why should we not expect fairness? Thanks for your comment and please agree to disagree with what each of us think is a suitable expectation. Rod
  6. My first trip pulling my trailer with my Volvo and the cruise control wouldn't work. My brother had driven the truck to Florida for me and was right behind me. We had radio's to communicate and I asked him if it had worked on the trip. He said you have to apply the brakes before the cruise control will work. Since starting the trip I had not had to apply the brake, hit all the lights and was on the freeway in nothing flat. I pressed lightly on the brake pedal and nothing. I quickly stabbed the pedal hard and then hit the cruise and success. I now try to stop once before I head on the interstate so I'm not hitting the brake at 70 because the cruise won't engage. Didn't see anyone above share the fact. Rod
  7. The longer I have my truck, the more the fuel mileage decreases. When I first purchased I was getting over 9 on the computer read out. Of course it was "Bob Tail" for almost 8 months before finally hooking up to my first trailer. Seemed to stay the same for a while and then I started to change the truck and finally the trailer. I'm a lot more heavy, have removed the side fairings(Wish I hadn't), have a taller box (Drom) and of course a much heavier trailer. I no longer keep the display on the MPG setting and instead it's on the clock and sometimes my "average speed". I fill up when I need or want to and am happy my truck is providing me with a driving experience many others can only dream about. "Priceless". Rod
  8. Not sure what happened with the above post. Linked two to one reply. Anyway, had some success by contacting a local computer repair person and have more information on what path to take. Unfortunately I was on the motorcycle when he called me back so I couldn't write down all the info he gave. Did have success in finding the needed cords available at "Staples", but only online. Will look at a couple more local locations before having them shipped to the store here. Thanks again for all the replies. Rod
  9. Back to you. Thinking of doing a fresh water dive for the first time. Table Rock Lake isn't too far away and it used to be good or so I've heard. Need to find a good company with some experienced buddy's. Rod

  11. Thanks, just what I'm looking for. Will see if I can find one in town before getting it from California. Rod

Seconding the good plan and the rest. I have 250 texts a month only. Every new job I take I have to tell them to not text me about a dozen times before they stop. I answer none of them and two text's from the same number gets blocked. My Children and certain very close friends are the only one's not blocked. I do have to do an occasional reminder to send an email or call. Rod
  13. If you know you are going call them and see if they will do the same for you. Rod
  14. I don't have a problem getting cash, I have a problem paying someone to dispense the money from my account. I would like to just get $20 to $50 at a time, but doing that several times a month at $3 a pop could get costly. Sure I can easily do it at the grocery, but with my rounding up sometimes it's not worth the hassle to try and get cash and round up $.99 into my savings account at the same time. Maybe if I used the "Self Check out", I could do it but I won't use them. It's over 100 miles to the nearest free ATM. Nice motorcycle ride I guess, but going to the same place all the time would get old. I didn't withdraw my maximum allowed yesterday, but now I have to be sure to lock my locker at work all the time. Sure as shit if I don't the cash will disappear more quickly than I expect. Rod
  15. I love my Classic Citizen HyperAqualand watch. In fact my current is the third one I have purchased. First one was stolen or lost, depending on how you interpret the story. Mostly it my stupidity. Second one also a dumb move on my part. I thought I could do just as good as the shop I was sending my watch to every couple years to change the battery. Found out the hard way that even if you don't dive with it any more. ALL OF THE O RINGS ARE IMPORTANT. Perspiration, occasional motorcycle rides in the rain and the rinsing it off all managed to seep in and ruin the inner works. About this time last year I met a watch collector and he commented on my replacement Citizen (that I really don't like). I told him my watch story and he suggested a website to maybe find my favorite watch. It didn't work, but Ebay did. I got what appears to be a new old stock with all the goodies I saw when I first found the watch in a Dive Shop in Honolulu. I have the mini Air Tank, the dock and the cord that no longer works with my current computer. I do have an older HP that still works, but I need a male to male connector for the other end. If I can purchase a cord with the pin connector to a usb I would rather do it. That way when the HP finally dies I will be able to maybe use it on a newer computer. So far the photo hasn't shown up. I hope when I post this it will. If not I will add it to the end again. Thanks in advance, Rod
  16. Didn't know the Traeger "NEEDS" it's own pellets. I use them in my Green Mountain because they are the ones I found at the local grocery store. My Mom has used Folgers coffee for years and never throws away the plastic containers. They are easily filled, use and have yet to spill. Won't pay money for a plastic home depot bucket. I have found the WIFI to be a nice gimmick, but it really doesn't alarm loud enough when the time is up or the unit has reached temperature. Then there is the "time out" on the phone or tablet. Takes longer to reconnect than it does to just go out and look at the display. Now if I could set it up to turn on when I leave work, be ready when I got home with something to throw on it I would certainly change my mind. My phone is my internet connection and it's always with me so it's not going to work out all that often, especially if I get set up to boon-dock anytime soon. Rod
  17. I try to always pay cash at the Farmers Markets. They do have the option of using a card, but why?I too use only one card for cash back purchases and another card for rounding up to the savings account. It's fun to teach the youngsters at the cash register how to count change back to someone who wants the amount on the card to end in $xx.01. Had a Postal Clerk (not young) one day that just couldn't comprehend the concept. Kept trying to give me the one cent stamp and adding the amount to my card. I gave up when there was a line behind me. Rod
  18. I bought a Green Mountain about three years ago. Carried it around and didn't use it much until I was put on the sideline for about 8 weeks. It's not a quick process to cook with, but you already know that. Had my younger brother over for some food from it just after the purchase. He had been talking about "Smoking" for a while. He was also using an "Electric". Next thing I knew, he bought a big Traeger ( I had been wanting one for a while, but too expensive in my mind.) He loved it, but then found the double insulated near professional model which he now has. It's not for the traveler though. Takes more than 5 men to load and unload and that's without a bag of pellets in the hopper. My Green Mountain is supposed to be portable. The "Davy Crockett." I can carry it, but not for a long way. It does not have wheels (yet) and the Leg's are not all that useful. I'm thinking of making a cart for it, but haven't started yet. The Treager "portable" does have wheels, is taller and easier to use (I think but haven't actually used.), and was about the same price, I found out after getting the Green Mountain. Depending on where you will keep it, how you will use it and how you will keep your pellet's dry are the biggest questions regarding a pellet grill. There is another model I recently heard about made in Yoder, Kansas. It's also heavy and has a unique "Smoking" profile so I was told. Apparently the cute smoke stacks don't promote even heating and you want one without. Good luck with your search. Rod
  19. One of my banks used too, but stopped a few years ago. I didn't mind because I thought the other "Large" bank still had ATM's everywhere. I have never had an account with a Wells-Fargo, and am not sure I would. The way they have treated their customers in the past just doesn't sit well with me. I don't do Amazon, Walmart, any of the "Dollar" stores, Casey's and most "Convenience Stores". I try to search out the businesses who have been in a community the longest and support them. I'm sure they have supported their community which in turn supports me as a Nurse. If I lived full time in a Sticks and Bricks I would do my best to make sure my money wouldn't travel further than 50 miles from my home except for the things that cannot be made in my local area. I would encourage businesses to ensure their suppliers used US made products and would pay more for that effort. Maybe it's the time in my life when I am able to more clearly see the circle. Maybe the circles are getting smaller. I don't know. You do something and pretty soon what you have done comes back around. Most often with a good result, but sometimes not. I'm trying to think about the back around more when I start things in motion. Rod
  20. I did too for a while, then I was forced into unemployment for 8 weeks and had way too much time to think about things. Hopefully I will get a positive answer from one of my banks. Thanks for your reply. Rod
  21. Probably, but my comment was about adding cash back to a purchase, which may increase their fee. I don't know if it does though. I won't use one of the stand alone ATM's. If it's not affiliated with a bank and most often actually attached to it I don't use. I may consider finding a local bank and using their ATM. Thanks for the comment. Rod
  22. In an effort to best support small businesses when I travel I have found a significant difficulty. "Getting Cash". I have been mostly a full time Travel Nurse since 1989. I didn't "Graduate" into a full time RV Travel Nurse until the 2000's. I started out with the bank account near my childhood home and would open a new account when I felt I was going to remain in an area for a bit and would use the "Credit Card" as needed if I couldn't write a check. Next came the ATM, Debit or Cash Cards. Sure seemed to make things easier and then some folks thought of "Gift Cards". The only gift with one of those goes to the account who sells it. It's wrong in so many ways. I thought one of the "Large Banks" would be the answer. You know the ones, had a branch in nearly every city and ATM's everywhere. That proved to be too costly for them and now you find them only in the largest of Cities and they don't offer drive up service at all any more. Sure, I can get cash when I buy Groceries or other items, but I'm really trying to shop at a non chain store and don't feel it's fair to have a "Mom and Pop" store to have to be my ATM. I am reaching out to my two banking institutions today and will see what happens. I still have a "childhood account" and the "Large Bank" one too. Haven't opened a new one in a while. Had a "Credit Union account" once but never did the direct deposit from the paycheck so it just sat there with my opening deposit. Sort of a dumb move that I don't want to repeat. 2020 want's me to think more clearly, do better and be better. I cannot change everything I want to, but I can strive to do more in small ways and hope others are having the same thoughts. My thought for this morning before I go out and pay an ATM fee to visit the Farmers Market. Rod
  23. Glad to see it's still on. Rod
  24. Met a few HDTer's on the road last weekend. I waved and think I saw a wave or two. My camera may have caught the view before I did while on the road. It's a long process to find since I didn't think to jot down the time. Will try to do so in the future. Just need to put a sticky pad and a pen on a string within reach. Anyone see me? Rod
