  1. Getting ready to do something to the exterior of my Spacecraft. Built in 2013 and mostly only washed so far. Did start with the Orange bottle stuff a couple times. Have done the front cap at least once and the rear doors probably only once. By the time I got those done climbing up and down the ladder I couldn't even thing of attacking the sides. It's only 42 fool long, right? I had touched on this post a while back and am thinking of trying the Zep, but then I found this stuff. "Original Bike Spirits" . I just got a new motorcycle and have been using the Honda Pro cleaner polish and protectant Have used it for years and it works great. The can is getting near empty and was looking for a place near work to pick up some more. Found the Original Bike Spirits and checked out their MSDS sheet to find the product is made by the Zep company. Maybe I should buy a case and just spray and wipe like I do on the motorcycles. Pretty sure I don't want to do the 5 coats that I read about above. Will be at the Spacecraft factory the first of October and they are going to allow me to use some of their rolling scaffolds to make the job easier. Anyone want to do a Spacecraft tour, please stop by and grab a rag. Rod
  2. Second night at Spacecraft before parking near Platte City till early July. They are building a 57 ft semi with 8 slides and electric heated floors throughout. Nice visit with Greg Shields who was here when I pulled in last night .
  3. Left my summer spot at the West Des Moines KOA yesterday and heading for Tallahassee RV Park for the winter. Rod
  4. Try to avoid I 25 from Ft. Collins to Denver any where near "rush hours". If your family are from the area they may be able to give you a much longer but quicker route to travel to and from Denver. I have a friend who relocated to Ft. Collins a few years ago who "Always" want's me to move closer. He tells me now to not consider it at all. I may be the straw that would break the I 25 corridor. Rod
  5. Had my son and daughter in law not mentioned it a few days before my trip I probably wouldn't have made the trip to see them. Will go back some day when I have more time to really walk around the park . I just did a quick loop, read some of the info and headed back to Iowa. Rod
  6. Cathy and Jim, be sure to pass through Sioux Falls and make the trip to the Falls. It's not an all day visit type of place but worth the stop in my mind. I was on my Motorcycle for my visit so I can't really say for sure that you will be good to go in your rig. There is a parking lot for RV's and bus traffic at the East end and the roads were marked either "Primary or Secondary Truck routes" leading in and away. It was real busy on a Sunday but the next morning after I finished at the Drivers License office there was plenty of parking. Rod
  7. I had a three filter system put into my trailer when I built it. A large whole house sediment filter followed by two other smaller canister filters that I can do either a finer micron sediment and a carbon block or two carbon filters. Thought that would be all I would ever need. All water going into the trailer goes through the filters either direct to the lines or into the fresh water holding tank. My first location for the trailer when new had known (rusty) water. I would change my single small cartridge once during my usual 3 to 4 month stay . With the clear filter canister in the large sediment I noticed an immediate change in color of the filter with my first 100 gallon fill. All was well for that first tank, then I moved to South Florida for my first winter with the trailer. Changed out all the filters for the "new" water and for a month and a half all was well. I was staying at a small equestrian ranch and started noticing a slight sulfur smell in the horse water and then when I was taking a shower. Apparently there are no filters that can control that. I did add a water softener to the mix and it worked for short time but was not a permanent fix. Took many samples to the local water treatment location and by the time I would get there the odor would not be present and the water tested out fine. Safe for consumption. There are others on the forum who have put in reverse osmosis systems either cold only or whole house systems. I chose to purchase the large plastic 5 or 6 gallon jugs and use it for my drinking and cooking water and suffer with the sulfur smell in the shower for the two winters I stayed at the horse farm. There are multiple options for your water unfortunately some may not work in all locations. Rod
  8. At the KOA Des Moines West. Arrived last night. Park is almost full. They advertise that all the sites are 75 ft, but I think they measure from the center of the road to the center of the next road. I have my 42 ft very close to the front edge of my site and barely have enough room to pull the truck in sideways at the back. Certainly not as big as the spot I had in Tallahassee and they were advertised at 75 foot also. Sites are also not quite level going to have to put blocks under my slide out side. Rod
  9. Back in Tallahassee from the ECR. I 75 traffic a bit better, but won't be my choice of routes back to Iowa at the end of the month. There was an idiot kid who liked to just ride along in the center lane and when I passed him he would always speed up and sit where I couldn't pull back right. Don't know if I caught his truck on my traffic cam or not. Couldn't see his licence plate because the tail gate was down. The camera came partially unplugged from the power source so I know I missed the time he was a real jerk and slowed to 30 mph right in front of me. Grey Dodge 1500 Crew cab with children s toys in the bed with the gate open. I think the only thing that stopped what he apparently thought was great fun was my fuel and bladder distance. I was sort of wanting him to pull into the rest area, but didn't want to come back out and have to come up behind him again. Rod
  10. Sad to think instead of just forward facing cameras, we need panoramic views all around the truck. Glad there was no damage to your Brand New Truck. Rod
  11. Finally made it to just south of Chattanooga. Stopping for the night at an I 75 rest area. Plan to leave early, stop and have breakfast before getting to the ECR by 9 am. Traffic was a bear on all of I 75. Hope it's better on the trip back. Rod
  12. Did you have to drive through that Colorado Snow Storm? Rod
  13. I'm not Jack but did see the steps. They appear to have brackets attached to the wall with pins. Didn't look all that close though and my photos don't really show them well except the door is in the slide out. That was a first for me. Rod
  14. Nice photos, is the entry door actually in a slide out? Sure looks that way. Hope the crowd isn't too bad that I can't see it Saturday. Rod
  15. Got to Shueyville, Ia. last Thursday evening. Here for at least 3 months working in Cedar Rapids, Ia. Was 60 degrees yesterday on the motorcycle riding to work and 72 in the afternoon. Took advantage and waxed the front and rear of the trailer. Hope to get the rest done while it's still cool. Will wait for help before I tackle the roof. Rod
  16. John Prince Park, Lake Worth Florida until end of June. Now know I can fit into two different spots and found out as long as the "Truck" doesn't move daily while here it can stay parked on site for no extra charge. Last year they said I had to pay an extra $100 for the truck to be there with the car. Had made arrangements for an outside parking spot for less, now I won't have to do that. Rod
  17. Recharged the A/C

  18. Jim and Cathy, Glad to see you are back on the road. Hopefully once this latest repair is done you can go somewhere fun. Rod PS, I am in Something Oaks campground just off I75 in Ocala, Fl. West Palm Beach and then Wellington Florida by Saturday. Rl.
  19. sitting in a truck stop in Murfreesboro Tennessee. Didn't make it as far as I would like to have. Left Springfield about 8 o'clock this morning. Instead of following 60 across I took highway US Highway 63. It was very pretty but the road through the Ozark Mountains was two lane and quite twisty. and then there was construction in Memphis it took almost 2 hours to get through. I'll hit Florida tomorrow. rod
  20. In Oakley, Ks. See the Devil Dog. Truck and trailer. After bfast I might knock on the door.
  21. Arrived Spacecraft last evening. Transferred load.from car to truck and trailer, Bbq at Dempseys and then to bed .figured out what you have to do with Hear pump at 1 am. Loading the car in the garage and will be on the way to Hutch before noon.
  22. David Mattson, I saw you heading North on 151 near Anamosa, Iowa today. I had just been to J&P Cycle. Rod
  23. If you have the time to take the San Juan loop, it's well worth it in my opinion. A stop at the Silverton mine was enjoyable as well as some treks off the beaten path up some of the mountain roads. I was on my 1982 Honda Goldwing for most of those rides and other than fjording a stream that was deeper than I expected and waking up one morning with frost on the bike (when it had been 90+ the day before). I worked in Gallup and made at least 8 trips around the loop with either my pickup, motorcycle or the new 1994 Dodge Caravan (I purchased while in Gallup). I saw something new on each outing. Rod
