Update on mini split 12k.

Recommended Posts

Well, our rooftop domestic fan failed again so decided not to spend anymore money on it. Well my little 5/10 job turned into 6/12 and I haven't had any projects time. So we were forced to use just the one 12k, 110v Pioneer mini split. Much to our surprise it has kept us very cool even up to 90 degrees so far. We are using the living room ceiling fan to help even out temps inside. A small upright Dyson fan pulling air into bedroom. Even at 90 degrees we can easily get it down to 70 inside. And you will have a shaw on too. Lol. I know this not July and August Texas heat yet but this is impressive.

Glenn,

Good update.  Question - some of the people that have LG mini-splits in their RVs are complaining about the humidity. It is simply not properly dehumidifying. Some are saying this is "normal". WHich IMO it is not. My Mitsubishi properly dehumidifies. And I assume your Pioneer does. Can you confirm that, and comment on any other "funny things" you have seen in use?

Mine pulls enough out that is is very pleasant in here. Know it really puts a steady stream of water out the drain. Neighbor thought I had a water leak. So it definitely working. Also it is comfortable now at 74 where the Domenic's we had to get to 70 to be comfortable.

That would happen with the typical AC if it was oversized. Wonder if same applies to the the mini splits. They are variable out put and they may not run enough to pull humidity down.

They do make a unit to go in the ducts of a house but won't fit our ducts. You don't really want to do this. Our roof area gets hot. It would lower the efficiency of the mini split. Our Dyson fan does a good job to circulate air to bedroom. Now Space Craft runs an interior duct. Maybe you should look at one of them. Wouldn't be hard to do

Only issue we had had with ours is drain clogged up. Assume alge clogged it. It drains inside then. Bummer. But a quick suction with small shop vac fixed that. Filter needs cleaning fairly often. Dirty filter really hurts output. Simple job, just need to remember to do it
