All our tires are "Sand" tires. :D

Linda

So that's how you got so far down that sandy road last year.

I felt a bit of energy flowing in my bones this morning so I went out and started to grease my hitch to get ready to roll Monday morning. Two pumps on the greas gun and it ran out of grease. So, off to Brawley and Wally World. I got back just is time for Happy hour and a nice pork dinner. They had the tables decorated as a Hawaiian Luau and three of the girls were dressed in grass skirts and dancing for us. You never can tell what this crazy bunch will come up with.

I finally got the hitch greased about 5 PM. It sure takes me a long time to do things now a days.

I always used to tell folks who worked for me that if they didn't make any mistakes I'd know they weren't trying, so guess I was really trying...

It must have been the new frig made that wheel so heavy it sunk in the sand!

We are still at our old home town of Plant City Fl- Loralie and Lee where in Bushnell so we hooked up for a meal and hope to see them in Georgia later this spring.

Late Happy Birthday to Paul - we promise to drink 2 margaritas tonight to make up for missing it !!!

I looked under the hood of my truck today and man I could have used a shovel to find the engine. Those last two dust storms we had really deposited half of California under my hood. I cleaned up the battery and found that the last time they serviced my truck at a Ford Dealer they put way too much water in the battery and acid had boiled out over everything. I washed every thing down so I hope I deluted it enough to stop the corrosion. The battery is still over filled but I can't do anything about that. It has already lost too much acid. Seeing that I'll be heading back to civilization Monday I shaved my beard off today. I'm sure glad I had my name tag on because I wouldn't have known who that guy in my mirrow was until I read his name tag.

Did they actually say they couldn't accomodate you?? I bet there are a lot of folks who travel with a trailer. I think that's pretty bad that they wouldn't offer another place to put the trailer. I suppose they might be afraid of the weight of a trailer on the pad itself though. We don't keep our Escapee membership for their RV parks but we do keep it for the forum. I think there have been quite a few problems with managers at some of the SKP parks. When they've been there too long, they seem to get attitudes or is it the politics. We totally didn't care for the attitude of the manager at Congress. We've been to a couple we've liked but not over much. Perhaps, we just haven't found the right one. We did like the one in Alabama and Washington but actually only mingled with the folks in Washington ... super group. Then, again, we haven't found the perfect park yet -- SKP or no SKP. :D

I felt that way when we got to the Thousand Trail's park today. The ranger that check us is didn't have any suggestion of where we could get over and disconnect the trailer. He just said don't block anyone. So we parked along a fence, plenty of room to get around us. We went looking for a place, the park is packed, so it took us a little while. While we are looking a ranger stopped us and told us we couldn't park where we were. Boy did he have an attitude. I think he needs to go back to ranger school for people skills. I think this has been the least helpful TT we have been at. But we are in hopefully it gets better.

I've given up on Saguaro SKP park also except for overnite in the Dry Camp area. Like Terry and Jeri I only keep my membership because of our group and Maybe the Care Unit.

I went to Niland and filled the gas tank today. $4.19/gal for regular. I'll take a shower tonight and maybe I'll have to go back to town to get another 7 gallon can of water to make it through the weekend. I don't dare leave on Saturday or Sunday because of the Glamis 4 wheelers. They take over the whole rest area, where our dump station is, on the weekend.

Tomorrow I'll get the inside of the trailer ready for the road. And Sunday I twiddle my thumbs. Make that my thumb and a half. I'll be able to sneak up on you guys now. I shaved my beard off. I modified one of my old LOW badges and put "INCOGNITO" where my name is supposed to be when I went to happy hour tonight with no beard.

To bad about your SKP park experiences. I will check with the Manager later, but here at "The Ranch" in Lakewood NM. They have a large trailer storage lot. The spaces are 60 x 50 set at a angle so they are easy to get into. As for as weight there is 3 MDT's here. Mine weighs 18,000# and the rig is 66' long.

When we showed up it was all smiles and hugs.

We are a days drive from El Paso, come see us and the cave too.

Good luck

Safe travels

Go rent a storage unit??? Now that's pretty bad. It is their loss. The problem is probably nothing will be done about it. It's too bad there isn't a topic on SKP parks started kind of like RV Park Reviews. Or, maybe we should start one.

Just because you guys were talking about this, I asked at the office here at Rovers' Roost. Here, there is definitely not room on a lot for more than one thing ie car but people who want can put their "extras" right outside the back gate. This property is not owned by the park but the owner is okay as long as it's "at your own risk".

Now that I've got everything ready to pull out Monday they are forcasting a wind storm Monday so I may be sitting here twiddling my beautifully carved thumbs for another day. Today, I got the ladder out and cleaned the solar panels and measured the space on the driver side of my trailer to make sure I could get all the panels on that side. I can and I found I'll need about 80ft of wire to wire them all individually to a 55 amp switch inside before putting them on a larger single conductor to go into the controler. Then I made a junction box out of a Lock and Lock storage box by mounting two grounding bars in it's lid. When I get energetic I'll wire it into the controler and be all ready to start moving the panels one at a time. I'll have to attend Occupational Therapy to learn how to work on a ladder again. My legs are tired from todays job.

Well I'm all hooked up and ready to roll. Tomorrow morning I'll start scratching this hitch itch. Just about everyone at the Slab LOWs came past today to say bye bye. It makes one think they are glad to get rid of me. I'll try to get going before the wind picks up tomorrow. They are forecasting winds to 28 with gust to 44. Maybe I can get to Casa Grande without starting the engine. I won't be staying there long. I'll do a little trailer cleaning then march on toward Deming, NM, and start working on my taxes.

Hey Lee....maybe we'll cross paths! We will be leaving the RGV on Thursday, March 1 and be over-nighting in Deming around Sunday, March 4. If so, we'll share a glass of "juice." :)

I blew into the Jim Korstien Pinal Co. Park about 1 PM this afternoon. I had the wind in my favor for a while but then it changed and started coming from the south so my gas mileage jumped into the john. Denise is heading this way also but I don't know if she is going into Casa Grande or stopping short at Gila Bend. I'm only going to stay here a couple of days to let the weather improve a little in Deming and try to get a little cleaning done as long as my water supply holds out. I didn't even bother about unhooking the Truck.
