aborovoy
Hi, everyone. When we come to Livingston to change domicile, we also want to establish a relationship with a doctor who understands the full time RV lifestyle. Since we are leaving CA, we don’t want to keep our CA doctors to help cut more ties. Any suggestions?
Kirk W
You may want to speak with some of the Escapee staff about who they go to.
Velos
Each states licensing and qualifications for practicing medicine is different. We have visited Dr's and Dentists in several states and learn you should not assume anything. On one occasion I injured my shoulder and used the site to eliminate two dr's that had board actions for DUI's. Another time while looking for a dentist one had board actions against the license for performing procedures on city employees and their children without prior authorization. I found this site helpful in looking up medical practitioners: https://www.healthguideusa.org/medical_license_lookup.htm Also google the Dr for reviews, you do have to read between the lines as each individuals expectations are different. Here is one source for Dr reviews: https://www.healthgrades.com/
dewilso
I’m going to post an excerpt just received in the Rainbows End park email. Hopefully it’s OK either everyone. " CARE - Reopening Clinic and Meals on Wheels Dr Sandra Hutchison confirmed she will be at the Activity Center Social, this coming Sunday 11/24 to discuss opening an office in Pearl’s cottage 1/1/2020. (Come at 6:00 p.m. for ice cream social, discussion will follow. David Horton) Initially, the office will be open two days each week with Nurse Practitioner Lindsey. NP Lindsey offered to make house calls, if she does not have patients in the office at the time of request. We are encouraging the Doctor to also bring in specialists, if possible. This service will be for all of Rainbows End (deeded and transient RV’ers). If you want a close, convenient health resource (that you could walk to) come to this Sunday’s Social to ask questions. For folks that travel and domicile in Texas, needing annual checkups, this is the ultimate convenience. The CHI clinic, in Pearls, left due to lack of participation of Escapees. Escapee CARE Inc. has no connection with Dr. Hutchinson other than to offer the use of the cottage as an office. If you want a convenient Health Resource, Use it or Lose it! Also beginning 1/15/2020, Escapees CARE, Inc. will offer Rainbows End folks “Meals on Wheels”. Our goal initially will be to deliver lunch to folks in the campground, Monday to Friday, for $9.00 each (or $16.00 for 2 at same address), If there is sufficient need expressed. Initial details include prepayment of 10 meals to get on the delivery list and at least 10 folks (10 stops) signed up by December 15! Normal lunches are $ 6.00, plus $1.00 for special take out containers and $ 2.00 to the person delivering. Week-ends could be added if there are sufficient volunteers to drive. Get your questions answered at Sunday’s Social. Russ Johnson carefd@escapees.com "
richardr
My wife may have to get knee replacement surgery. We are looking for a place to stay while she recovers. We just came across CARE and it looks very promising. I would appreciate anyone who has gone through knee or hip replacement and used the CARE facility for recovery. I am also very interested if you used a local doctor/hospital to perform the surgery. We are on Medicare with Tricare for Life as our supplement. Kirk W
While we have dealt with surgery living in our RV, we did so staying near our son. I suggest that you contact the CARE facility to discuss the issue and to get current, valid information. When i volunteered there a couple of years ago there was a young single lady in her RV recovering from this type of surgery. Certainly better than having to go to a nursing home after surgery when they will not let you go home alone.
