whj469
Yes you can buy a new truck as a non citizen. No, you can buy the truck in any state but you must pay sales tax. The sales tax should be paid to Texas if you are using Livingston Escapees address. Texas in Polk County, Escapees address, doesn't require a smog test but a safety inspection each year, $7 US. If you require any additional information please ask.
Kirk W
Welcome to the Escapee forums! It is great having you here with us and we would be very happy to help you. 1. You can use an Escapee address to buy, register, and insure both an RV and a truck in the US. You do need to have a US address to do so but there have been many from the UK, Australia, New Zeland, and several other countries who have done this. 2. It does not matter what state you purchase the vehicles in to register them in Texas, but it would be somewhat less difficult if you did purchase in Texas. 3. Each state has it's own laws about vehicles and what is required to register them. If you use the Escapee address there is not smog inspection but there is a safety inspection required. I suggest that you take time to read this Australian Perspective on such issues as well as the British Perspective both of which were written for me by those citizens. While both articles are a few years old, very little has changed so it should be pretty easy to update anything that is needed. There are several RV dealers in Texas that have dealt with buyers from outside of the US more than once and who are familiar with what needs to be done.
