rdickinson Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 Working on deck mods for new car. Are two tire baskets adequate to secure the car. Up[ till now been using 4. Thanks
GlennWest Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 I would think so but I use 4. But I have never strapped it down with 2. 2003 Teton Grand Freedom towed with 2006 Freightliner Century 120 across the beautiful USA welding pipe.https://photos.app.goo.gl/O32ZjgzSzgK7LAyt1
SuiteSuccess Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 Roger, As Glenn says it may be but I wouldn't use just two. I have been on some roads where the truck bounces like a bronco coming out of the chute. The likelihood of the front or back tires dancing around on the smart is not great but I just don't want to take the chance. I use two tire baskets on the fronts and two straps with tread blocks on the rear. 2006 Volvo 780 "Hoss" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift Bed Build by "JW Morgan's Custom Welding" 2017 DRV 39DBRS3 2013 Smart Passion Coupe "Itty Bitty" "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. Dennis M Posted December 2, 2016 Report Posted December 2, 2016 I've always used four just out of an abundance of caution. There have been couple of times where one has become a bit loose for one reason or another.
