WIFI Ranger firmware 7.0.2

Just noticed that there is a firmware update available. Has anyone upgraded to it? Does it still support the Boost CPEs? What are the advantages of the new firmware?

Before someone makes the comment, I know they now say that it is not supported at all, but am not about to spend $360 for an Elite as long as my four year old $80 Ubiquiti CPE still works and works very well with the 7.0.1 version firmware. It would be cheaper to go with another brand router than purchase the Elite as long as my CPE is still working and maybe even if I had to buy a new CPE in addition to a router. I know there are some pretty tech savy folks on here, including Technomadia, that use the same Ubiquiti CPE that I do.

Thanks!!

Yes, the 7.0.2 firmware does support your Ubiquiti CPE; if it's working for you under 7.0.1 it should work fine with 7.0.2.

Largely, 7.0.2 is a bug fix but there is a new iPhone tethering feature that will be of interest to some users.

Here's our write up of the 7.0.2 release, mostly focused on the iPhone tethering:

“Challenge Accepted” – WiFiRanger Adds iOS USB Tethering Support

BTW, while we have a Ubiquiti in our testing arsenal, our daily use WiFI extender is the WFR Sky. We prefer the no set-up needed, always on omni-direction style of it. If we need really extended WiFi repeating, we'll deploy the Ubiquiti on a flagpole. But truth of that matter is, our primary internet connection is cellular - we hardly ever find WiFi worth bothering with unless we are driveway surfing with friends.
