quinntheeskimo
My math tell me if the rig has 1,418,000 miles and 700,000 miles on a complete rebuild. Then in 18,000 miles it will need a complete rebuild. dzlnut
huh? If it has 700k on a rebuild then it has approximately another 300k miles to go before needing a rebuild
rickeieio
I think what Gail meant was: 1,418,000 total miles on truck -700,000 since rebuild 718,000 miles on the original engine thus if the rebuild goes a long as the first engine, it ain't got long. SuiteSuccess
I thought the condo was pretty neat. From what I understand they can run $60k new. Looks like a pretty clean truck except mileage. 2006 Volvo 780 "Hoss" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift Bed Build by "JW Morgan's Custom Welding" 2017 DRV 39DBRS3 2013 Smart Passion Coupe "Itty Bitty" "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. dzlnut
usually those motors go to around 1 million miles before needing a rebuild so if it was rebuilt 700k ago it has 300k miles + or - before needing another rebuild
beyerjf
If you like this sort of thing this guy has been specializing in selling them for 40+ years http://www.shelbyelliott.com/home/ He has about 20 of them of all flavors right now. We call them houses in the trucking biz. Our company finally said no more, we won't allow anyone to lease on with a house because the severe operational limitations, weight and maneuverability. New ones go for about $250K but have an absolute horrible resale, because anyone who has the money for one wants a custom layout, in the sleeper and the tractor, including paint. They are popular in a couple of areas. Enclosed car haulers, notably Reliable Carriers has a bunch of them, but they don't have to back in anywhere. They are a major league headache when a bunch of them blow into a major city to deliver cars to a car show like the NY Auto Show. Southern Pride, a flatbed outfit specializing in hauling jet engines has a bunch of them, again, no problem finding 40 acres to turn it around at an airport. But watch them squirm when they have to park for the night at the average truckstop. Bedbuggers( household goods, and electronics) use them, but not as much as they used to. They always have the option of dropping the shipment at an agent and let the agent deliver something they can't get to, or they can transfer it to smaller equipment. It seemed to me to buy an older one that has been well maintained, they are cheaper than the average used motorhome, but again, they likely have 13 or 18 speeds so the RV market doesn't want them either...
