Ha Ha, I thought that would get some good replies. I like your come back.

I drove the cowgirl that just had cateract surgery up through Cimmeron Canyon today to see a friend of her's. Only trouble the friend wasn't there. So We came back through Eagle Nest and went to the Elizibeth Ghost town and toured the museum. It was kinda interesting but very hard on my ego. I knew what everything in the museum was and how it worked. It's sure hard to convince myself that I'm that YOUNG, HANDSOME, INTELIGENT AND MODEST guy I refered to in my last post when I know what every thing is in a museum. After that let down We returned to Eagle Nest and went to the Hotel dining room for dinner. I thought it was going to rain hard this afternoon but it blew over and someone else got all the water.

Well, I made a little more progress on the bus maintenance today. I went to OKC and got the front end aligned. This is the first time I've ever had that done and it was prompted by the tire wear on my right front. The bus drove fine, but the tire was in bad shape. Now that I got the two front tires replaced Monday, I wanted to make sure I didn't ruin them. It turned out it was quite a bit out of alignment, and they were able to get it back in good shape. Took quite a while to find these guys, but I talked with the owner, and he has had a number of motorhomes, so that's why his shop wanted to provide that service. Only one in OKC that will align independent front end equipped motor homes. Then after that we went to Speedco and had the oil, filter, lube, fuel filters changed and antifreeze sca's (supplemental coolant additives) added. We then came back home, or we brought home back to the park, or however you're supposed to say that, and filled up with diesel on the way. $3.49 today, so I finally caved and filled up (110 gallons). Additionally I found out that the shop that I got the alignment at will do shock installations on the IFS, so I think I will order them and have that done while we're here. Original shocks, so they are probably getting weak with 72,000 miles on them. I looked on the Tiffin forum, and no-one seems to like these Saches shocks and some of them are replacing them at 10 or 15 thousand miles. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing, but the bus never seemed like it had shock control issues, and they aren't leaking. Now that I found someone that can do it (most won't on the IFS), I think I'll do it and at least I'll know I've got good shocks. I looked at a test of the major brands of MH shocks, and Bilsteins were rated the best for the money, but they don't make a shock for the front of mine. Koni makes them and they are rated really good, so I guess I'll bite the bullet and try them out. After all this I'll have to rob IYQ's cranberry juice supply cause I won't have a plugged nickel left for any of that stuff. Hmmmm maybe sell the ice cream machine ....................................NO WAY  Steve

Lots of rain this afternoon. I didn't go to the concert at the Vietnam memorial. I'm not use to the altitude yet. I thought lugging my chair from the parking lot to the amphitheater might be a little too much for me. I drove over to Angel Fire for dinner and the Memorial was packed with cars. I'm glad I didn't go. Dinner at Zeb's was good. I did a little carving this morning. Boy was I rusty. I'll probably throw this one away.

Steve, I put on Bilsteins a few years ago. Probably had about 15k on the rv at the time. Made a big difference in the stability. Koni's are a good brand too.

I just received my tow bar back from Roadmaster. Looks like new, and they replaced quite a few parts on it. I guess my $149 plus one way shipping was worth it. Now at least we can tow again. They were nice to deal with, and even notified me when they were shipping it out. Now to hook up my towing wiring again. Hmmmm where did I put that wiring diagram?? <_< Steve

People are starting to leave Eagle Nest now that the 4th of July celebration is over. Maybe I'll get enough bandwidth to post without waiting a half hour between each clicks. I haven't even started my truck today. Not much going on that I care to participate in. I'm debating what to do about my water pump. It's on it last legs. I don't know if it's calcium deposits clogging the system or a ruptured diaphram but I can just get a trickle of water when I'm using the pump. I'm debating whether to go down to my favorite RV repair place in Deming and have everything fixed that needs fixed or send for a pump and do it myself. I hate the thought of getting back under the sink cabinets to change it. We've been having rain storms just about every afternoon. I guess that's what you have to put up with to bask in the cool of the mountains. Days are in the 70's and night's in the 40's. And it is the start of the monsoon in the southwest. They sure need the water. The lake is way down. Of course Steve could run up here in Bessy Bus and fix everything for me now that he has Bessy Bus all back in shape. I hope he brings the ice cream machine.

Lee, I recently replaced the pump in my rig. It kept cycling on. Was gonna replace some parts but the guy at the RV store told me that would cost me nearly as much as replacing the pump. Maybe he was just trying to up sale me but it only cost about $70 for a new one. Not knowing the age of it I bit the bullet.

Enjoy your cooler weather. I've givin' up on checking the weather here in OH...scattered rain/t-storms every day...at least the highs are only 70's. ;)

Roger, I did a little trouble shootng this morning and the problem seems to be that the two way valve for the antifreeze is sucking a little air. It's easy to replace and I can get one here in Eagle Nest. We just had a heavy rain storm so I,ll wait till next Wednesday to replace . I don't have anything planned for that day.

Two of our group here are pulling out tomorrow and 4 more are pulling out the day after tomorrow. So we are down to me and one of the cowgirls who stays here all summer long. 4 of us met tonight at one of the campsites in the state park and had a ball. This morning I went to Taos, NM to visit there Wal Mart. Boy what a let down. It's a new store and they only have a small grocery section and no produce. There book and magazine section is about 15 foot long and mostly mens body building magazines and other crap that I wouldn't read if I had to. I came back without buying a single thing. As I was coming up the grade nearly to the top of the pass between Taos and Angel Fire I met a truck and travel trailer coming down around a curve about 6 feet over the center line. I only had about 4 feet of shoulder on my side of the road without hitting the rock cliff. I managed to miss both the trailer and the rock wall but I don't know how. It was sure close. I stopped in Angel Fire to get groceries and have lunch then came on to Eagle Nest and took a nap. With all the vehicles taking aim at me I'm beginning to think someone posted a bounty on me. Hummmmm, Steve who have you been talking to? I didn't take the Ice Cream machine. It's still in the casino.

I've been trying for the past hour to get onto the internet. First I tried the WiFi in the Rv Park here. No Luck. Then I tried my MiFi. It said I had a 1x connection but no internet. I fiddled around with the automatic connection repair and finally it started working. And now that I'm here I can't think of what it was I was going to say.

It got a little warm early this afternoon but then our Two Oclock Rain storm came through and brought the temperature down into the 60's and every thing was fine from there on so I called my friend and we went out to dinner then drove up one of the road into the foot hills. What a view. The slope we were on was facing Mt Wheeler with all the lesser mountains in the foreground. After that I took her home and came back to the RV Park where one of my neighbors saw me and came over and talked for about an our. Then I got my belt sander out and put the leather strap on it and put a razor edge on a couple of my caving knives. And that was about it for the day.

Lee, did you have to put on clean underwear after that?!

Not only that but I needed to hose out the cab of my truck.
