  1. So I did test the scope for temperature fluctuations. So at 62 degrees it works as I thought when building the scope. ( I never even heard of a scope as such until I started research on this style rifle and the time period they were used in. Even that a few were used on buffalo later in the 1800’s. This scope is just a tube with small openings on both ends. 1/4” holes on both ends. No magnification at all.) So with the scope set out in the sun at 92 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes you could tell the scope was hotter than the rifle barrel. So I installed a remote thermometer into the scope. 114 degrees inside the scope. So that may have an effect on seeing through the scope in those temperatures. So it should be cooler this week during the afternoon and I will be in the shade to correct the heat problem. I hope. I will try to take some ice along to cool the scope also just for a test. Since me and the wife are really social distancing as much as possible. (She wants to go along to the range) I need to wait for her to get in motion, then we mite as well eat lunch at home. No restaurant dining this year as for the covid thing. I also figured out how to adjust the scope as it is shooting about 12” to the left and at 8 o’clock. At about 150’ distance. I made the scope mounts by hand and just sighted it in as best I could at about 125’ without shooting it. So for just the first shots being off as it is. I feel ok with it. I am looking for a local place where I can shoot at longer distances when that time comes Many other things to be doing in between shooting at the range. Stay safe in your travels, Vern in a T-shirt
  2. Is the fridge on the hot sunny side of the rv. That could be one of your problems. Just a thought. Vern in a T-shirt
  3. I have experienced a number of black tanks that were plugged through the years. After about four years of working on rv’s I started to ask how these customers were dealing with there black tank. Were they flushing or not. So I really started to pay attention to how people did use there system. Yep dam I must be nuts. everyone was testing me for how the hellll I thought flushing tanks was a bad idea. But I am the guy that had shi# up my armpit more than once from working on a plugged black tank. Yep had bad unrealistic discussions with friends over this thought. I finally started telling my friends that I would not work on a plugged tank if they flushed there black tank. So what found with a remote camera was that piles of (. ) were sitting on the bottom of the tanks when there was no liquid in the tank. Flushing a tank can leave a stiff pile sitting there. Then if one just happens to become an island. It may just be moved around when it floats loose. Now buy chance will it float over to the down stream opening and pass the gate. Butttt it may not. So for 10 years or so I have been dumping the black tank until I see solids start flowing. Then shut the waste valve fast. I have basically retired from rv repair so now I can share some of my experiences and tricks to repair things and solve problems for you. Now I am not a educated man. But I have gone to School of Hard Nocks in real life experiences. Vern in a dirty T-shirt. Just my thoughts. But I could be wrong again so I recommend to let the tank fill up 3/4 or so full . Then empty it till you see solids flowing out. Then shut the valve. I do recommend a clear fitting where the waste lines connects to the rv. So you can watch what is flowing out. Those solids can have time to dissolve in the tank for the next flush.
  4. I cannot paste it on the forum. But search the net for painting eyes on cattle’s butts. That’s correct, But it apparently works. Anything buuttt covid. Vern in a T-shirt
  5. I will say that over a dozen years repairing rv’s. Do not flush your tank with water. Use one bowl of water for number 1; Two bowls of water for number two. Use the system as normal . Figure out how long you can go before dumping. Have a clear fitting on the exit of pipe before you dump. When you see solids stop draining.. repeat for as long as you rv.. Vern in a T-shirt
  6. You could single the dual tires.. just run the outside tires. Vern in a T-shirt
  7. Finally got back to range. I had adjusted the scope just a tad. Got 5 rounds off. Really discussed about dam scope. Put three different colored targets at 175’ and looking through the scope I can hardly see white green or red. With or without glasses. Time to leave after scope subject. Why is it that I can see through the scope better than I thought I could when building it. But out at the range i cannot focus with or without glasses. After I left the range I got to thinking (bad word) what if the heat from the sun on the scope is making heat waves inside the scope.( bad word again). This scope is about 32” long , 3/4” diameter with a 1/4” holes at each end. It should be legal for long range competition. (Badddd word heatwaves) So I will test at sunrise tomorrow for clarity and sun hot exposure tomorrow. (Good Word). Vern
  8. Ok I will keep my thoughts to my self as I am not educated. Vern
  9. For a clarification of life span. I am thinking the last 75 years. It seams to me (and probably just me) that from 1980 or so the planet has seen several viruses that affect humans more seriously than previous viruses. I better quit thinking, Vern
  10. I am serious about what I am talking about. I am busy with other stuff so I am sorta limited on research time on the net. I do have some other info on viruses and copper research that has been done previously to covid19. It is on the net. Vern
  11. With the situation we are in now with the virus, just has me thinking. Without the Wright brothers we may not be in this situation as we are. Ships travel slow enough that some would be lost at sea from sickness overwhelming the people on board. Then we have the net. Some good and some bad stuff just a click away from your eyes. Just looking back in our life span on the planet for why these viruses that affect humans have just appeared in our life time. just thinking, Vern

    VNL Hood Repair

Someone good with fiberglass repair should be able to fix it. Even a boat shop or regular body shop should be able to fix it. Hope this helps, Vern
  13. There I was a study done on hospital door handles and push plats several years ago that showed viruses did not survived. I am busy doing other things today or I would look for it. Vern
  14. I finally got a picture of GITS. I consider young uncontrollable geese learning to fly in a group is interesting to watch. So with being in Montana for a number of summers I have noticed grease flying in odd formations. And I really would not calling it a formation at all. It is about this time of year.that I see them. They are probably looking for fields that have just been harvested for easy food. It looks like the parents are trying to get the kids to figure out how to fly in a V formation like you normally see them. They are usually fairly low in elevation so I can watch them closely. It looks as they flip and flop around like kids being bad. More fun than watching covidiots in stores. Vern
  15. So I copied my statement (copper and viruses) this one such the sites I found to read ://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC195916/ it mite not be true?,,,, Vern note the date it was written
  16. Search on the net for (Copper and viruses). You may find some interesting reading. For some reason I cannot copy and paste some things. Remember I am not a computer person. Just some thoughts, Vern
  17. I was a well driller since 1977 until 2005 or so. So with being in new homes to install water systems I got to watch new types of plumbing inventions be used. Also did a lot of wells at old homes. Older homes previously to say 1970 had copper plumbing in them. Not 100 percent, most were copper. But there was that debate over witch is better, Copper or plastic. Over time copper could have joints or pit holes form leaks. Plastic seamed like the way to go. Of course we did not have time tested plastic to see how it performed. Our first house restoration in 1981 I did copper. Just sorta old fashioned. The last building we did I uased plastic as there were 8 bathrooms in the bed and breakfast inn we restored. I am not a scientist. But with the internet there is many research scientists that have done studies on bacteria and viruses. Just my thoughts here. There are viruses that we live with that has been around possible centuries. But if your look at when certain viruses that really are problems to the human race. That have appeared since humans have used plastic instead of copper plumbing (copper has been known for centuries to keep water better than other storage containers). HIV showed up about 1980. Not sure of that date. Then Ebola, Sars and I think it is Mers. There is research done previously to covid that shows viruses do not live long on copper. Some have been done on hospital door handles and push plates on doors and viruses do not live but a short time on them. That is a lot of info to understand. But if you search the net it is there. Just thinking . I have lots of other thing to do today now that it is daylight out. But do some searching. It is interesting. Stay Safe, Vern
  18. I want you to think about when modern use of copper disappeared from our society. Sorry not to give you my thinking yet. But I will in time. Go back to Wikipedia and read about copper and think about its use in our modern times. It would help if ever did any plumbing. Just a clue for u. Vern
  19. Something interesting to read about. If you go to Wikipedia and search for Antimicrobial properties of copper. after you read and think about this? When did viruses really start to affect the humans. I could not copy and paste it. Hopefully some else can. Stay safe today, Vern
  20. Customer call’s yesterday. She explains that her new 2020 Fleetwood rv’s camode will not flush. Could I come to her new RV and fix it. Nooooooooo I will not. She never gave a thought about Covid 19 I gave her Fleetwoods tech number and Dometic numbers.. they CEO can fix that da..... thing. I am not. POV
  21. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/08/12/masks-florida-ban-billy-woods/ Vern it is a good time to think about where you will winter at
  22. Well now today it went bang. Just a test of 5 lightweight bullets for aligning the scope. Yep it is offfff to the left. But I expected it be off somewhere. Only about 50 yards distance. So now I am thinking how could there be a simple adjustment devise be made on the rear of the scope. Maybe just file the saddle the scope sits in one way or the other. I did not install the iron sites yet but it may happen in the next few days. Next time I will raise the powder charge as today it only had about 30 grains of black powder. Also my portable test bench needs improvements also. Should measure powder charges before going to the range and have lubed bullets ready.. need to take cleaning supplies to clean the barrel often. After 5 shots it was getting tight in the barrel to push the bullets down onto the powder charge.
  23. We could meet at the line. Do we shoot east or west on the line. Would we get in trouble for it. I guess it depends on which side of the line the bullet falls. This sure beats thinking of the covid thing, Vern
  24. Search utube for Wasserburger BPCR Mile shoot 2013 I cannot copy and paste it for reasons unknown to me. I am not a computer person.
