  1. Dave just drove my RV down to Austin, Texas, to get the shower floor fixed. He made the trip down in two long days instead of the many short days we usually take because he was racing to get there before the storm hit. So glad to say he made it. Hopefully he'll have better weather for the trip back. That could be as early as Tuesday depending on how much damage may have been done to the underlayment by the leak and what the actual source of the leak was. Linda
  2. Those of us who don't post regularly don't get missed. But, Lee posts everyday so, unless he tells us he is going someplace without internet, we worry when he vanishes for several days. I am sorry to hear you are still sick. That one was a doozy! I sure hope you aren't passing back and forth between the two of you. Linda
  3. Thinking about it is the important part. Once the thinking is done the rest goes easily. Linda
  4. Good to hear it. I thought maybe all those visitors wore you down to a nub then someone erased you. Dave and I went to the dog-catcher prevention place today. We are now shorn of nearly all fleece. May have to wear our stocking caps Friday morning as we head south to get my shower fixed in Austin, Texas. Minnesota is not yet having summer. Linda
  5. IYQ hasn't posted anything for a couple of days. Lee, are you OK? Linda
  6. I like the idea of reducing conflicts with others if I get there next year. I'll put those dates on my calendar. Linda Sand
  7. Sitting here in our apartment watching it snow outside today and remembering at this time last year I was trying to come home and the weather wouldn't let me. Not sure which is better. Linda Sand
  8. Wish we could dewinterize the RV so as to take at least a day trip somewhere but we still have freezing nights in the forecast so I just sit here planning and dreaming. Linda Sand
  9. Toni preparing to feed you is always a good thing to come home to. Lucky you. Linda Sand
  10. You'll have to relearn how to live with full hookups. Linda
  11. Maybe a similar one. His is at the museum at Fort Rucker in Alabama. We know because we saw it there. Still can't believe all those soldiers wearing boots that look like high-top sneakers that never have to be spit-shined. Linda
  12. Dave contacted them about using some of our map's features--such as entering GPS coordinates to get the markers closer to actual sites. They basically said not interested. They only use city and state in their locations so you have to set a time and place to actually meet as you are not allowed to tell anyone precisely where you are. I found that interesting since they implied you could find other people in whatever RV park you are in. I have not dug far enough into it to figure out how that would work. I'm sure the app will become very popular for those who don't have our class's experience. And for members of our class who want a way to meet other people of like interests. Linda Sand
  13. Ron, You could try doing your tools the way we do other downsizing. Mentally walk through your rig and figure out what projects you would likely do thus what tools you would need. Then mentally walk through your storage spaces and figure out where you would carry them. Then physically weigh them and see what other stuff you'd have to give up to bring them. Eventually you will figure out what is worth bringing. If you start from the tool end, you'll never make it so it might help to start from the project end. Linda Sand
  14. But you need one to get your around when Jim takes off for a week of fishing in your truck. Linda Sand
  15. Absolutely wonderful! This happened to one of my brothers and he and his son now have a great relationship. I am happy for all of you. Linda Sand
  16. Ah. It included an extra dot at the end. It thought the period at the end of the sentence should be included in the URL. Try this: http://www.oakforest-rvpark.com Linda
  17. When I go to Sportsmobile in Austin I stay here: http://www.oakforest-rvpark.com. They take Passport America Sunday through Thursday then gave me 10% for AARP, I think, the other days. I just gave the guy all my cards and he picked which ones gave me the best deal. When I went the second time he remembered me--maybe because I gave him a brand new cast iron skillet I wasn't using. They may not have a spot for you, though; I got in with no reservation because I fit in one of their short end spots. Linda
  18. I had a cart go dead on me in the grocery section of a Walmart. I used my cell phone to call customer service in the store and tell them where I was stuck with a cart full of groceries. They brought me a different cart and transferred my groceries for me. You CAN get good service at Walmart--I think they were afraid I would walk away from all those groceries. Linda Sand
  19. We attended a small family gathering at Dave's sister's house yesterday. It's the third time in about 6 weeks I've been out of the apartment. Having all the rest time has been good for my health but I still don't like winter. Linda Sand
  20. If you like your iPad Air even half as much as I like my iPad2 you're set. Linda
  21. Just to make you all feel better--it has been so cold here it had to warm up to snow. Which it did. Now the temps are dropping again. Did you know solar panels don't work when covered with snow? And cold batteries don't take a charge well? Drove the equivalent of Q to Parker and back on Friday and still didn't get up to 100%. Brrrr. Linda Sand
  22. But, smart people sleep through the first one. Linda Sand
  23. The last time I was in the Walmart in Parker they were selling bundles of wood. It wasn't time to buy any yet so I didn't pay attention to the price. Linda Sand
  24. Do you really expect anyone to say no to that question? Linda Sand
  25. We pretty much emptied my van into the apartment in hopes of getting the van into a garage before the big freeze. The garage turned out to have an 8' door for my 10' van. So now the van is sitting out in the cold and the apartment is a mess. No one has to guess what we'll be doing for the next few days. Linda
