  1. Dang! Life is challenging out there. We once had a guy back into us in a parking lot. He tried to say we hit him but we weren't moving at all. Fortunately, there were three of us in our car and we could smell the liquor on his breath so he gave up his claim pretty easily. Linda
  2. Whoa, Steve! Glad you are both OK. May be a bit sore the next day as we often don't feel those things right away, Maybe the cops will find the car--can't be too many of that description driving around. Linda
  3. I claim dibs on one of the guest rooms! Just let me know when. And provide a ride from the Phoenix airport. I'll even house sit while you all go boating. Linda
  4. Either that or the liquor in the remedy made us not care anymore. Linda
  5. Thanks. I can get turkey rice soup here but not chicken noodle. Its just not the same. I wonder if I could get the kitchen to put some garlic in the turkey rice soup? But I think it's the broth that make chicken noodle soup work for colds and I know I can't get a good chicken broth here--it's all vegetable. Being on a low calorie eating plan makes all the tasty fats go away. But I've lost somewhere around 30 pounds this winter and they've reduced my blood pressure medicines twice so I can't complain too much. Now, if Davey had just not been generous enough to share his cold... Linda
  6. There are days when I'd like to give it away for a better one. Today I feel like a little kid. Cooped up at home with a head cold and feeling whiny. The drug store will deliver my medicine but no one is making me chicken soup. I want! Stomp, stomp. Linda
  7. I'm suddenly remembering Jack Benny. Linda
  8. The night after a bad one is usually very good indeed. Unless the reason for the bad night is a head cold. Please, pass the cough drops. Sure wish I had some Nyquill on hand. It's challenging being here with no car to go get stuff like that. The next bus to Target goes Monday at 6:30 pm then I have to kill about an hour there until time for the bus to bring me home. At least coming home it drops me right at my door. Maybe I should buy some chicken soup and a pan to heat it in? It's not on the approved food list here because of the high sodium and the noodles not being whole grain but I'm willing to go off plan if it helps me feel better quicker. Two weeks until I go home then I have to decide how closely I'm going to follow the guidelines here once I get there. I like the results I'm getting here but I have just a touch of rebellion in me still. Bet you all have trouble seeing me as rebellious. Linda Sand
  9. Steve, Glad you enjoyed the railroad; we sure did. It was not nearly as far along then as it is now. I'd like to go back someday and see all the improvements. We operated on the N-scale layout there, too. Showed them my uncoupling tool for N-scale equipment and they all went and bought some. I am famous in some places and infamous in others. Kinda like IYQ. Linda
  10. Steve, if you go to Balboa Park and see the La Mesa Club's huge HO scale model railroad of the Tehachapi Loop check out the operator's desk called Caliente. That's the job I worked the last time we operated at that model railroad. Not always fun having your back turned to the kids in the aisle. But the electric signal system developed a glitch so they pulled out a big hand-operated order board for me to use and I got to hoop up orders. That was fun. Linda Sand
  11. Here's my update: Sold my RV so I probably don't even belong on this forum anymore. I'm still in Durham, North Carolina, where the are predicting snow tomorrow. Now that I said a cuss word I better go hide. Linda Sand
  12. My van is now officially sold and on its way to its new home in California. If you think you see it out there, go introduce yourself to Joanna and tell her I said, "hi." Linda Sand
  13. I'm not sure you can see the fireworks from the north BLM area if you mean Craggy Wash. Most popular appears to be "the steps" under the power lines east of 95 south of town. Linda Sand
  14. I am so glad you sold BessyBus 1. I was more worried about yours than mine. Linda
  15. I sold my RV this morning. Got my asking price! I wonder how long it will take me to stop talking as if I still have it? The buyer is an experienced traveler who will only be using it part time while she is caring for her elderly mother. She and I have been emailing one another so I know how excited she is. That makes me happy. Linda Sand
  16. One of the hardest things to do is give up on a live game and head for your car only to hear the crowd go wild as you are walking through the parking lot. Linda Sand
  17. Oh. Memories of the shotgun "incident". Linda
  18. We're not having rain. We're having drizzle. And mist. And fog. At least it got warm enough to not be sleet. I'm out of here tomorrow. Watch it rain as I go to the airport. Linda Sand
  19. Tina and Jeff, I'm so sorry for your loss. I still miss our first kitten some times so be aware that Sadie may stay in your hearts and memories for years to come. Linda Sand
  20. Thanks. Sure glad I'm not competing with Bessy Bus, though. Linda
  21. My van is now for sale. Details at http://sandcastle.sandsys.org/2014/12/lindas-rv-for-sale/. Linda
  22. We turned my RV over to Sportsmobile yesterday and we are on the road to home. SMB will clean it up, fix things on the short punch list, and write up the ad for it--hopefully using some wording I suggested. I'll let you all know when it is officially on the market in case any of you know someone in the market for a rig like mine. It was a good run and I'm glad I got to meet those of you I did meet. Wish I was going to be with you all again on Plamosa Road but I'll be back in North Carolina then working on getting healthier. Linda Sand
  23. I'm thinking I might get some sliced turkey from the deli and some pumpkin pie and go right for the turkey sandwiches and pie. The leftovers are the best part of the meal anyway, right? Linda
