  1. Recall linky "The recall includes two models of generators, the Honda EB2800i and the Honda EG2800i." I had to go check after you said that, had not heard it. It does not cover the 2200i so we lucked out.
  2. Nice find, did not think to look at e-bay.
  3. I think I paid $950 for mine on sale last year, plus taxes. Don't recall ever seeing them for less. Best price I see for them at the moment is $1009 on Amazon, u can usually find free shipping on there. Saw the 2200i and companion 2200 with cable/covers for $2,2xx, good price for the pair IMHO. Good luck finding any for less. I operate my electronic items in our RV on one of these, no problems so far.
  4. I hear ya! This Ram is loaded to the hilt, would not have enjoyed driving it off the lot new!! My wife's car is slowly circling the drain, it's in the garage not running now do to the extreme cold we've been getting past few weeks. That Jeep is what I've been looking at but my wife is thinking she wants a Honda Pilot, gave a feeling she is going to win... LOL It's off to the auto parts store for me shortly.
  5. My used truck ran ~55k, big enough to haul a large 5th wheel, then cost of RV. I would not buy too much older of a truck/cheaper as the repairs/upkeep might get spendy quick, but it is possible and ppl do it. On your budget, I might even look at a class C, I see nice ones in your budget often. But a decent class A is nice too, both classes can tow vehicles.
  6. Continuing off topic... that was my first motorcycle when I was 13. Had a wind-screen and saddle bags. Rode that thing for 4 years, miss it, had a ton of fun on it as a kid!
  7. I run a Honda 2200i in a 30 amp RV with 13.5 A/C. We boondocked quite a bit last year, never had a problem with power. Ran A/C in the afternoons when it got hot out, never pop'd a breaker. We have a micro/w but don't use it much, just turn off the A/C while using it. At right, when the temps lowered a little, we open the bedroom windows, run a fan and 2 CPAPs and never a problem on eco mode, it runs a little under 9 hours one tank of gas. I have ran it off eco mode in 90-degree temps and the A/C never stopped but it did take a tank of fuel about every 4ish hours. During the day with the A/C running I will also run a TV/DVD player, couple lights if we need, no problems. I thought about getting the 2200i companion to run both connected but so far, have not found a reason to spend $1,400 or so. Bought the first one on sale for around $950 plus taxes.
  8. Cool, thanks, checked it, it's eligible. I also looked at my monthly bill, it would cost 20/mo to bring my wife's to above unlimited like I have. It gives me from what I see about the same as using the mifi. Their site wants $45/mo to use mifi-prepaid where it would only run 20/mo extra for my wife's upgrade. I see no need for me to turn on this mifi. Guess it goes back in the box to collect more dust.
  9. Just looked at mine, have not used a couple years but is this one (5510L) a good one for traveling with or is an antique? Says 4G LTE on the front. I don't remember it being inexpensive when we did use it. Can it be used on the prepaid unlimited plan? Wife and I are on the unlimited plans, I only hit about 50gig a month. At 20, mine goes into granny mode at times. Would I be better going into beyond (?) with her phone too (I think it's an extra $10/mo to increase hers (don't quote me on that) or just set this one up again?
  10. Another note, in all my years of collecting, I have only bought one fake. That one, I knew was a fake and wanted it because of it's uniqueness. I have marked it as such, only payed a couple $$ for it.
  11. Correct, there is a lot of fraud out there, alot of Chinese counterfeits floating around. I have researched and learned how to spot a fake and yet there are some that fool me, little lone an expert. This is why on my bullion I only buy from the smelters I am familiar with. I only buy coins from reputable dealers, one in particular that has been in business over 40 years. There are also Coin grading services that can spot a fake from a mile away. Yes, it's a gamble, but it's mostly a hobby that sometimes pays. I use a jewelry grade scale and a micro-scope to check all purchases out plus a couple other tests. As far as a con holding my silver for me, don't walk, RUN away very fast. I buy nothing that is not in my hand. Coin value, some set by the goberment but mostly by collectors and the rarity of the coin. It is a big business, auctions, books, etc. I use The Red Book as my main guide but not as an absolute, experience comes to play. Been doing this over 40 years off and on. Study the hobby, it's fun and if you want, can be fairly inexpensive, ya don't have to go after the high cost ones. Anywayz, back to my original question, anyone besides me dabble in pms?
  12. Looks like an old long thread so I'm not going to read all 30 pages, forgive me if asked/discussed before. Those here that are good with investments, how do you feel about precious metals/coins? I'm curious as I have over the years picked up a lot of silver/gold coins and a lot of bullion. Does anyone use these? (As well as some art) I try to use silver bullion as an investment stabilizer of sorts. While it does not go down much when the market is increasing in value, it goes up, albeit not a lot, but goes up a small bit when the market kicks me in the groin like is has the past few months. I find it strange (weird?) that bullion always does the opposite of the market, ie down when stocks are up and up when stocks are down. Right now, even with silver prices up a little, I believe it is a pretty good value with lots of potential, but like stocks/casino, it's a gamble. Of those of you that are full time, do you invest in these and do you take with you or leave in bank? Just curious, don't have to say if worried about safety. I store mine in a bank safe deposit box so it is safe from theft, unless the bank would fail. Oh, and just a note, I think those TV hawkers on gold/silver laughable, I rank them along the lines of ambulance chasers. I hope no one swallows their baloney and jumps on wagon, all they are doing is playing on your fears to make themselves a lot of $$. I've been doing this long before these ........ started this up.
  13. Just did a quick look, probably wrong again.. surprise surprise... LOL, anywayz, your retirement age is 66 yrs 10 months?
  14. What I caught on a SS briefing, for her to collect, or increase her amount based on your SS, you would have to work until full retirement age, for your age group. IF you retire before, she will not be able to collect off your SS as long as you are alive. Call/visit the SS office and talk to an expert. I've been know to be wrong before. Again, Call/visit the SS office and talk to an expert. My parents, dad was forced to retired at 63 medically. He fought the SS as long as he lived to get medical retirement, then back medical. The great state of IN refused to give it to him even though he had medical Drs and lawyers backing him up. Because of this, they said he did not work to full retirement, mom was never able to collect on his account to get any more $$ than what she earned mostly as a housewife with jobs here and there. His monthly amount was smaller because he did not work to 65. But, when he died last year, they jumped her monthly SS to close to what he collected which was not the full amount as he did not work to his retirement age. Again, Call/visit the SS office and talk to an expert, THAT is the only way you will get the straight facts. Again....
  15. I'm still in. Had a feeling mid summer 2018 I needed to dump, I did not, now I'm around 35% loss. I will get out the minute it gets me back even, don't even need a profit, I'm grabbing my $$ and running. An extremely low paying savings account would still have my initial investment sitting there. All I want for 2019 is to get my $$ back but if needed, I can let it sit a few years, it is after all a long term investment, not $$ needed to survive/live. Investing to me is nothing more than a gamble and I never gamble $$ I'm not willing or able to lose. That's why my investments are all very high risk, but would be nice to get it back... LOL Life goes on. I'm rich and always will be. What makes a person rich you ask? Well, for me it is love, family and life (and a good beer!). The rest is just goodies you can live with, or without, I'm happy either way.
  16. I'm not real familiar with many areas around Seattle but my son in law knows it pretty good. If you want, tell me where you want to go to work/school and the area you are thinking about living, I can ask him. My kids live in Kenmore, it is a pretty nice area.... for a .... chitty but very far from reasonably priced housing. My daughter for a while lived about a mile from the washington med school and paid I thunk, 1,6oo/mo for a studio type apt. I have a friend that lives around Kent, I could ask him about some areas too. Feel free to ask but be warned, I'm not real fast but I will get 'er done.
  17. Honestly, in ya'lls current situation, have you thought about staying in the less expensive parts of town and bus it? How far is say, Kent from where you need to be? Or one of those areas? 45 to 60 minutes on a bus adds lots of time to your day, but in the end, saves you more than you could imagine from traffic alone. Have you drove around in the area you want to be in, work in, etc? My son-in-law, who is from there, now refuses to drive where he works (downtown Seattle) or the roads getting there. He goes to the bus station and commutes every-day. Every time I have driven there, which was a week ago, my country boy arse came out pale, hard time breathing and blood pressure through the roof! When my daughter moved there many moons ago, she soon ditched her car and learned the bus schedules. She lived away from Seattle and learned to depend on buses. Say's they are life savers. I'm not going to re-read all the posts, but I must ask. Have you ever visited Seattle? Do you have a very high tolerance for crazy people, lots of homeless beggars? We have walked downtown Seattle and have had to step around people sitting on the sidewalks shooting up drugs. Downtown by the bay is gorgeous, some very nice areas but the problem is the ppl in charge think the homeless have more rights than the residents, you will be tripping all over them in an otherwise gorgeous area. Don't get me wrong, you can go to areas where you don't see much of that, you just have to know the areas to visit, which ones to not. And not alone IMHO as a woman. Edmonds is a very nice area, we always stay in a Best Western there and walk everywhere, we love it. It might be an area to check. Don't know what cost is there but close enough to the city I bet not cheap. And there is a train that goes to downtown Seattle as well as a bus station. And a couple other small towns north of there along the train track. There are some options but again, if you have not been there, maybe check it out before committing yourself. Not trying to scare you from going there, by all means do. Just be well prepared. My daughter wasn't, it was not a good time in our life. But, she is still there, happily married and we just got back from seeing our first newborn grand-child. We will be going back and spending a lot of time there but we have our eyes *wide open* when it comes to there. Good luck.
  18. I was there a couple days ago talking to them about a site. They are friendly, very nice place. The good, IF you can get in for a seasonal, $600/mo plus elec. Cheap for in city compared to stick n brick/apt rental costs. BUT, if your RV is older than 10 yrs old, they really don't want you there. They say you are welcome, and they will let you stay at the nightly rate of $50, so $1,500 month... monthly/seasonal price, not a chance in hell. Even told them my camper has always been covered, it looks nicer than a lot of new ones but was told not a chance. If you want to go there for longer than a few days, get a newer RV. We are going to buy a new one this winter so we can visit with our kids more than a couple days.
  19. This is what I'm contemplating for my 2015 3500 DRW Megacab. If you have the shortbed like mine, you have to be careful of the front of the rails clearance.
  20. It's incredible the people I have ran into that wished, now at our ages, that they would have stayed in and did 20. There were times at re-enlistment I almost got out as I always had jobs waiting for me at home. Each time I had to weigh the options, each time I came to the conclusion that I was not working a job, but serving the country and having a blast. Now, years later, I will say it was a decision that I will never regret. Even with a stint in Saudia, Kuwait and a few other places, it was hard, but I have done harder jobs after retirement. My military service racked my body to the point I'm disabled some and always in pain, but I will always be grateful I was afforded the opportunity to do 20. Would I do it again, Hell Yes!
  21. I bought a Honda 2200i to run our camper. When I bought it, I wanted to know if one would run my ac or if I needed to buy the companion. I fired it up, turned on the a/c and it worked just fine. Turned on the overhead fan, left the fridge running on ac and everything worked fine. It was 90 degrees out so I figured it would be a good test. It cooled our rv down to 75, fan running, fridge running and the inverter/gen ran just fine. I had the switch set to eco mode also. I don't think it ever slowed down from full run though but the noise did not get bad at all, nice and quiet generator. Total run time, 4.5 hours before tank went dry. I did not try running anything else, did have one overhead light on, did not try the microwave. My rv is a 30 amp model. The progressive EMS I installed behind the fuse panel did not like the generator. Would not pass any 'lectricity until I turned it off. So, should I make the neutral to ground jumper plug to eliminate this problem, or just leave it off when running the generator? I may just leave it as is for now, we don't do much dispersed camping and really don't think we will do much. Biggest reason I got this is for the occasional dispersed camping, is to supply power to 2 CPAPs. On eco mode, it will run them all night, windows open and small fan running if needed. Back to the OP, I think your small camper would do fine on a Honda 2200i since mine is a 32 footer and it works great. But, my elevation used so far is 1,100ft. Find a friend that has one and give it a try. If your close to me in ND, I'd let ya use if for a couple nights for a test run.
  22. I funded mine at age 52 so feel very fortunate(?) yet I wish I could have kept working my job, really loved it (got hurt, could no longer perform my duties). Mine can/will never run out, as long as I live, I will live decent as will my wife. I have a half a year until I can collect ss but don't need it to continue living my lifestyle. On the other hand, my wife is about to hit 65 and still works, will until 66 but that is her choice, she truly enjoys her life. She ultimately made a good decision, for her, the difference between yearly ss and current pay is quite a bit. A minor (?) problem is, my retirement pay will end if I die, wife will get very little of it when I'm gone (yes, mine is from gov. job). Because of this, my wife is growing her retirement so she could live decent if need be without me. She made the choice to not work early on but to stay home and raise our children so she is missing 20 years of work history from the git go. Yes, I understand ladies, a stay at home mom is very hard work, harder than any job I ever had but one she does not regret. Her choice. I'll be 62 this coming April and will probably start drawing on it, I will put all of it into my wife's retirement savings account So, in reply to 62 or FR, I see/live both sides of the coin, not everyone should draw at 62, it all goes back to choices made throughout your life, good or bad. Early retirement, with my wife working, has not been all fun and games for me.
  23. I could see you doing it on 2k/mo if you own your rig and very little if any bills. If I was to try it I would include a lot of dispersed camping.
  24. With your budget, going to be almost impossible unless you are willing to work on it as you go. Something like this: Slide in camper That's just an example, I have seen them go for much more, and some much less. Something like that you could drop off at a scrap yard when finished, or sell quick/cheap and not be out much. What you could do is rent a truck capable of carrying a slide in camper. Return truck to dealer after dropping off camper somewhere and done, no vehicle to try to sell on the market.
