  9. Dan and Freda, I have probably asked you this before but what part of Kansas are you from. I grew up in Pittsburg and graduated from PSU. Happy holidays and thanks for the message.
  10. Hey is Jefferson elementary school still around? I spent a year or two on Stanley drive. My dad was a firestone, store manager there. We came to town at the end of my kindergarten year and left after I had finished the first grade. I had a teacher named Mrs. Percy. She would be about 60 now. We used to go to Winfield, Wichita, and Ponca City. I will sure make it a point to let you know when I am in K.S. again. Happy holidays.
  11. Happy Holidays! Hello and happy holidays to one and all! I am getting ready to log off of the computer for the remainder of the week and start to relax over the next 3 weekdays and 2 weekend days. I put my turkey in the brine last night, in a cooler and covered it in ice. This will let it thaw out slowly and as juicy as can be for roasting on Thursday. This year we are limiting it to me and my wife. It will be relaxing, we won't have that feeling of OH $h!t the turkey is up to temp and we still have 45 minutes before people come over or that awe F&^K everybody is here and it is still 20 degrees under which means quite a while longer and the people "IN Laws" are here drinking my beer, my wine and liquor and becoming impatient. So this year I don't have to share left over meat or stuffing. I am sure by next week I will have had all of it I can stand. I hate this virus. I hope a vaccine comes out soon. I miss not being with my family and friends. I wish everybody the best! Please stay safe, well and happy. Sincerely, Cory Ossana - Vegas Teacher
  12. How true here is my story, you will appreciate this..... 1 year ago, November of 2019 I took my Volvo 780 semi to a place I was less than happy with. I backed it into a spot and went into the service counter. I told them I had purchased this truck with about a million miles on it and wanted them to go over it with a fine tooth comb and get it ready for the road. I gave them a laundry list of things I noticed and wanted fixed. I also asked them to take it out and drive it to address a pull I felt in the steering. So the guy behind the service counter goes out with me an hooks up the computer to the diagnostic port, runs the preliminary and says it looks good overall no big codes coming up, we will call you after the holiday weekend next week, that was the Monday prior to Thanksgiving last year...... I got a call back Monday after the holiday weekend just after Thanksgiving. On the phone the guy says well I have some news for you. Your bull gear is out and it is going to need a new one, the part is 10K and there is between 50 & 100 hours of labor. If we find something else we will fix it while we are in there and you are looking at around 50K after it is all said and done. I told them not to touch it. I had my wife drive me over to the dealership to get it. When I got there I noticed my truck had not moved from the spot it was in, moreover I noticed the front wheels were still cut in the angle I turned to get into the parking spot. I went in and asked how they diagnosed my truck issue. They went on got the mechanic and he said he turned the truck on and could "hear" it. They told me the bull gear could go at any second. I asked if they thought I could make it home. They said they did not know. They Charge me about $300.00 for the "inspection" for shop time. Like I said my truck never moved into the shop. I drove it back to my father in laws house. He has RV parking. I let it sit from December of 2019 to May of 2020 when I received a recommendation from the guys at Southern Tire Mart (who I have also loved working with, ask for Junior) to go across the street to True Blue, and ask for Steve. So Coronavirus comes along. School ends ( I am a teacher, Arbor View High School ) I call up True Blue, and I take my semi over to him. I tell him about my experience and told him what the other place told me. (P.M. and I will tell you who it was, but I don't like airing dirty laundry in public.) Steve and his crew start going over my truck. I get a call 3 days later, first he was going to start on all air leaks, then he was going to change the oil and all fluids, next put on new bushings and air bags. NOT the BULL GEAR. Lots of small things but not the bull gear. He still has my truck and has done new brakes, shocks and tie rods. My drive tires are both in bad shaped plus aged out and I need a 3 axle alignment plus 8 new drive tires. So Steve has been good to me. I think anybody who is looking for a great mechanic, that knows how to trouble shoot an engine problem. He is fair on his prices. He sends pictures of every issue plus calls and sends text to let you know what needs to be done with an estimate before he does anything. When he does anything he explains the problem, explains what the parts will do and tells you what his steps are for fixing the problem. He was not a friend before I started going to him, but I would certainly call him a friend now. If you go to him tell him Vincent Ossana gave you the recommendation, he will take care of your Diesel and treat you like gold. Later, Vegas Teacher
  13. Hello, I post in the HDT site because I have a Full size Volvo 780 semi. I usually don't read anything from this site as I assume a lot of you probably do not go into the HDT site. I did put this in the HDT resource site but once again I did not know if many of you went there to look for stuff. Plus as I am not buying or selling anything this is not SPAM, I looked up the definition prior to posting it. So for those of you who are coming through Vegas or wintering here and need to get your diesel looked at, a problem fixed or tuned up I just wanted to pass on this information: True Blue Diesel repair shop just off of 95 and Cheyenne just across the street from southern tire mart which can do all of the tires on your rig for you too. The two shops work together on a lot of issues where they have specialty repairs. Talk to Steve at True Blue his phone number is (702) 979-8480. He is honest and works extremely hard to take care of his clients!

  16. Steve is incredible I can't say enough goods things about him. I don't know how to get to the resource guide to post it for the escapes. Can you tell me how to do it?
  17. Sculptor, By the way I love the coloring on your truck. As soon as I can get mine up and running I plan to go to the rallies. Kansas is actually my home state. My parents still live in Pittsburg Kansas. Pittsburg is in the S.E. corner right on the state line between Kansas and Missouri. Where my mom's farm runs out, Missouri begins. They are only 3 hours from Hutchinson Kansas. I hope we can meet in person someday and talk trucks, trailers and Dogs. I have always wanted to see the inside of a 730 and see how they were different from the 780 with the lower ceiling. Later, Cory O
  18. I just posted a photo of Jax. Thanks so much for your kind words He was my buddy and putting him down ripped my heart out. He was a kind gentle soul.
  19. Many wanted to see a picture of Jax. Here is a picture of him about 3 years ago.
  20. Chad, Thanks for the email. I don't see how the K9 guys do it. I know they bond 100% with their dogs, putting my dog down was the hardest thing I have had to do in years. Jax was my buddy. 10 years together every day, training and resting on the couch. He never talked back, was always happy to see me and he listened when I talked to him. Then he was gone and it was over. Idaho after I get my class A or CDL. Later, Cory O
  21. I am not sure I will find out for you. I just sent him a text. He just responded and he charges 125 an hour for motor home work. Call True Blue at Address: 3451 Losee Rd, North Las Vegas, NV 89030 Hours: Open ⋅ Closes 5PM Phone: (702) 979-8480 Ask for Steve let him know that this came from the HDT forum and use my name Vincent Ossana.
  22. Thanks and I will post a photo just need to find a good one. Ripped my heart out. I got to be there when the vet put him down. I gave him a hug, and the next thing I knew the vet was putting her hand on my shoulder saying he is gone now. They had the I.V. stint in his leg prior to him coming into the room. It was a very tough weekend. I have no idea how the K9 police get over something like this. Jax and I trained every day. We had a bond. It hurt like He!!. Later, Cory Ossana
  23. Well things are still moving along on my 2010, 870. I bought it back in March of 2017 so a little over 3.5 years into getting all of the little things to make it road worthy taken care of. Just after election day I found out the tie rods were bad, so I had the front shocks (I got the best I could get), front brakes and tie rods done. That bill came out to about $1,300.00 my truck came from Florida and ran loads up and down the east coast, between salt on the highway and salt in the air, plus Florida rain, everything is rusted and getting things off takes time. Much of that 1300 was labor to heat up bolts and get them off. Some of you might remember I tried to do some of the work with the help of "Vegas Flyer" but we spent more time trying to get the right tools and could not do a lot of the work because we could not get stuff to budge from the bolt it was on, then when we did get some of the stuff off and put back on it did not look good at all, due to lack of the correct tool for the job. So now I am down to 8 drive tires and a steering alignment. When I talked about my truck having a lean, many on the forum thought the truck had been in a wreck, but when I took it to True Blue Diesel Mechanics here in Vegas I had him, Steve, and his staff go over my truck with a fine tooth comb. It has been on his lot since May of 2020. He has been using it for fill work. All of my systems are working great, I do not have a single air leak anywhere. It purrs like a kitten now. The truck does not have a lean any more. When he did the cab air bags he replaced the bushings, which had completely worn out. When he did that he put the cab on a crane and leveled the cab before putting on new cab shocks. Not a bent frame, not a previously wrecked truck. So now $250.00 for an steering and 3 axle alignment (Southern Tire Mart in North Las Vegas) just off of Cheyenne & Losee. Right across from True Blue, they trade jobs that each shop can handle better. Steve will just take my truck over for me. "Southern" specializes in alignments. They have one bay that does nothing but that all day long. I am going to wait until December to do this project. I had to have my 13 year old German Shepherd put down on November 7th, I got to be with him when it was done. I couldn't believe how bad I hurt, he was my best buddy. I had adopted him from a rescue and the vet guessed him to be between 3 - 5 years old. I had him for 10 years so he was 91 - 105 years old when he passed on. We went everywhere together and did Schutzhund together. He was a great dog and will be forever missed. Sorry I got off on a side note there but that was a 2000.00 procedure so I am a little thin in the funds area right now. Later, Vegas Teacher - Cory Ossana

  25. I know I have talked about how great Steve is over at True Blue Diesel Mechanics is, but he impresses me a lot. He found me the top of the line shocks for the best price. While diong the bad tie rods. He stopped what he was doing and called me, then sent me pictures of my truck. I know this guy is looking out for me, my safety and my truck. Once again if anybody is on their way toward Vegas and notices any little thing wrong with their truck HDT or MDT Steve is worth calling and setting up an appointment with. Tell him you heard about him from me and he will treat you right. Later, Cory Ossana - Vegas Teacher
