  1. Thanks! I was a little confused when I could not find an instruction booklet, but then I went back to the Ranye's website and looked at several pictures before attempting to go out to the truck and mount it. plus looking at where the holes were and how they matched the pieces that came with it, it all made sense pretty quickly. Then I turned it over and saw the instructions OMG!!! I kind of felt stupid LOL! Later, Vegas Teacher - Cory Ossana
  2. Thanks so much for the help!!! It is greatly appreciated. All I have to do is take off the IMG from now on???

I am still not sure how to get photobucket to work but over the weekend I got an order from Raynes Truck Parts. I ordered a dash cover to put on the dash of my 780, turning all of that unusable space into usable space. I ordered the long dash cover, small opening that fits around the small organizer that is on the dash, and the one that has a glove box. It is black shiny vinyl. It took me 30 minutes to install from beginning to end and it was all very easy. The price starts at $139.00 but the options I chose brought it up to 207.00 plus tax and shipping about $250.00 when it was all said and done. I think it is worth every penny I really like the way it turned out. In the front there is a really nice bar that you can see that says V-Truck. It has a faux plastic chrome looking top and looks very sharp. The address for Raynes is included at the bottom of this page. Also if you order it and you notice instructions are not in the box don't worry they are on the back of the top shelf, as a sticker. If you order it and have trouble call me I can walk you through it. Raynes address: https://www.raneystruckparts.com/volvo-vnl-v-truck-custom-dashboard-system/ Later, Vegas Teacher - Cory Ossana
  4. What part of Vegas Do you live in? I am in the Northwest part of the Valley. I live at Decatur and Farm, just south of the Shooting range. I used to have a 1987 Bronco II I loved it. 5 speed manual transmission and shift on the fly 4 Wheel drive. I had way to much fun in it until I rolled it over. I got hit T-Boned by a car that pulled onto the highway from a stop sign, it kind of ruined my day. Later, Cory Ossana - Vegas Teacher.
  5. Yep that is correct. I was going to get mine last summer but Covid got in the way. I did not want to be in a class with God knows who that came into contact with God knows what. I passed the three CDL written tests already, that was easy. I am going to southwest truck driving school here in Vegas. All of your information was perfect and greatly appreciated. How is all going for you. Have you been on any good trips? I get my second vaccine shot on March 9th and 10 days to take full effect will be on Friday March 19th. If you come through Vegas please let me know, have to grab a beer somewhere. Later Cory Ossana - Vegas Teacher!😎
  6. Yep and he said he noticed that as he was walking up, plus the glad hands are gone too, so he knew I was not attaching a commercial 5th up to the semi.
  7. Maybe we will be, I have vaccination shot #1 the next comes on March 9th. We don't go out, we don't go to the bar, we don't go shopping. Been locked up since March 2020 in our house waiting for things to blow over. However to me it is not worth taking a risk. Speaking of Tennessee, my wife and I have looked at a lot of the South to retire to. Tennessee seems to be tax friendly and good prices on good on property prices. I want 25 to 50 acres to fix up a house and build a grand daddy of a barn and workshop, maybe put in a 5 acre pond. Wife retires next year, I retire in May, 2028. Vegas teacher
  8. Sorry AKC gets Petrack Park Saturday morning and we have to go to Simpkins for Schutzhund.
  9. Hello everybody! Happy Valentines day! O.K. I have to tell the story starting on Friday for everybody to appreciate it. So once again I go over to Pahrump from Vegas on Friday after a long week of teaching and grading comparison contrast papers written by my students on Mitosis and Meiosis. I love my kids and my job, but reading and giving input over the computer is difficult. We leave Vegas on Friday at about 4:00 p.m. Two German Shepherds primed and ready for Bite work and Obedience training at Petrack Park & Rodeo Grounds. We are running bobtail and it is beautiful out. We stop in Indian Springs, I get a 6 pack of Modelo, put it on the Catwalk where I have dog kennels and a dog box full of stuff. We get to Pahrump that evening and train from 6:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. in the morning. All is good, others bring beer and I have 3 beers joking with the members of the club, I share some of mine they share some of theirs. Saturday Morning up and at them at 5:00 a.m. I have no idea why but I am hungover, honestly 3 beers like I said, but hung over. We move to Simpkins Park, AKC has it on Saturday Morning. Truck starts up running good, I had to top off Coolant but not a big deal. We practice until about 1:30. Part of the club goes out for lunch, not me and the "D.W." we will not get covid from something stupid. We wait. We get on the road at about 3:45. I am still not 100% but enough coffee and Monster energy drinks and Mountain Dew and I am good to go. O.K. Dolly Trolley can confirm this, but There were wind gusts up to 72 miles per hour on Saturday between Pahrump and Las Vegas NV. The trip between the two towns is a long stretch of highway between two mountain passes with miles of open desert on either side and in some areas foot hills are very close. Well dealing with the gusts of wind and keeping that Semi, running bobtail, on the road was a lot of fun. I would come out of an area protected by mountains into an open spot and get hit by a wind blowing across the highway that wanted to push me into the center of the two lane section of the portion of the trip I was on, yep 160 is all two lane out the back side of Pahrump and part of the trip is two lane on 95 south until 95 opens to 4 lane. 90% of 95 from Vegas to Reno is 2 lane highway, I wish it was 4 lane. Anyway......... So it has been a very tense 80 miles between Pahrump and Vegas. I think I have left grip marks on the steering wheel in that amount of time. I finally get to 157 and 95, that is the Kyle Canyon turn off for Mt. Charleston and is now just outside of town due to all of our recent growth. I just start to relax thinking O.K. I got this. I am running 63 in a 65 mph zone. I see an N.V. Highway patrol in the median about a mile ahead. I think no big deal, I have had H.P. pass me all day long. As I pass him I look back in the mirror and notice him pull out, then I see his lights come on. I was the only car on the road at the time. OH $h!#, !@#$ me moment. I pull over. He pulls in behind me. what seems like forever I see him walk over to the passenger side. He asked me to exit the truck and to give him my license and registration along with my proof of insurance. Then he asks if he can board my truck. I tell him my wife is napping or was napping on the bed with my German Shepherd and I tell him if he enters the dog will not like it, but if he would wait a second I could get both of them out and he could go have a look around. Thank god the extra beer is still on the catwalk behind the cab. So he says no problem he really did not need to see in the truck. My license is just a regular license and I am still nervous about this but I don't say anything. So he asks me who I work for and I say I am a school teacher here in Las Vegas at Arbor View High School and I teach Biology. So he asks why a teacher is driving a Semi around Bobtail. I launch into a story that covers the last 6 years of my life, starting with my wife wanting a bigger trailer. 30 minutes later he is asking me about again and asking more questions because he likes this idea. So I then ask him what I did wrong or why I was getting pulled over. He said he was doing Safety inspections on trucks that day. He asked me if this was a daily driver and grocery getter, I told him no. He had pulled my registration before he came up to the door. So he knew how it was registered. He turned out to be a really nice person. He told me to go on my way and have a great day. He thanked me for being knowledgeable of the rules and regulations and to drive safely. I think I have learned many times over now that if you are nice to law enforcement they will be good to you. I have a lot of friends in the Police, FBI and Fire because of Schutzhund. These guys love dogs. I told the officer about my dog and we talked about "Oldriska" too. Well all was good, However......... I don't think that pair of pants will ever be able to be worn again, LOL Happy Valentines Day once again!!!! Later, Vegas Teacher - Cory Ossana
  10. In Nevada I have the choice of Commercial or private truck. I am registered as a private truck. I tried for the R.V. designation without success. I even told the person they could come out and see the portapotty and microwave, they laughed at me. So maybe the thing to do is to get a CDL this summer instead of taking a long road trip back to Kansas. Later, Vegas Teacher - Cory Ossana
  11. That is for sure! I am having fun with the truck instead of feeling overwhelmed. My all time low point was November of 2019 with the T.E.C. Volvo / Mac dealership here in Vegas. It took me two days to figure out how to tell my wife we would need to invest 15 - 30K for parts and labor back into the semi. However the one good thing that came out of Covid was not doing anything fun, saving money and using it to fix up the Semi. Steve, at True Blue Diesel Repair, here in Vegas took me under his wing and fixed up my truck. The Volvo is still a diamond in the rough but I know what it will be and I have regained site of that. Pam (D.W.) and I are having so much fun with it now. We don't have a fancy bed on it yet. We don't have a 45 foot 5th wheel yet but I know those are future purchases down the road. We are using the Semi like an R.V. now. Pam, as I said in a previous message got in the driver's seat and took it for a spin on one of our outings. Her comment was it isn't as big as it looks when you get behind the wheel. I was happy to see her confidence grow. This summer I plan to drive it back to Kansas. Will I have trouble on the highway, driving Bobtail, at the state line weigh stations or check points if I don't have a CDL or any other licenses than my class "C" regular drivers license? The other fun thing, as pictured, is our dogs. We have 3, but only two have gone in the semi so far. The oldest German Shepherd has Back Bone issues, Plates have joined it hurts him to walk and climb. So when one dog is our the other is in the kennel behind my seat. Risk love to look out the front window to see what is coming up. Vigo, my wife's German Shepherd curls up on the lower bed and goes to sleep. But when I say do you want to go to the Semi, both dogs know the word semi and start jumping up and down. It makes me laugh and happy to see the enthusiasm. If I say car they simply walk over to the car but no jumping LOL. Later, Cory O
  12. Thanks for your help!!!!!! I feel stupid when it comes to this stuff!
  13. I hope this one works, however it looks like Pat and Pete figured it out for me.
  14. Hello All! I did another short trip (80 miles one direction) over to the Kingdom of Pahrump ruled by Dolly Trolly. If you don't know Dolly Trolly you are missing out he is a great person! Me and the "D.W." love this trip. It is a very easy drive. 4 lane most of the way, two lane for about 30 miles. It has a lot of different situations in a short amount of time. When I go over I like to get gas at a small gas station to the West of Simpkins Park on Simkins street. The Diesel pump is its own little Island and It does not have a canopy over it. So I don't have to worry about the height of my truck, yep one less thing to worry about!! The last time I got Diesel in Pahrump it was 2.25 a gallon. I filled up both tanks. I am going to keep filling them each time I go over. I am a board member of Red Ridge Schutzhund Club. We practice in Pahrump once a month. The last practice was at Petrack Park, where they have a soccer field, baseball / softball fields and a Rodeo Arena. I parked the semi and we had practice Friday night from 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and we stayed in the 780 all night right there at the park. I did not have to check into a motel or worry about Covid this way for me or my wife. We had a "Rough Tough Kennel" behind the drivers seat for one German Shepherd and the other roamed free. I slept on the top bunk, the D.W. slept on the bottom bunk and cuddled with her German Shepherd, Vigo. It got down to 47 that night. However I had heated up the sleeper and we each had a sleeping back rated for 30 degrees and a sleeping back liner all zipped together and a blanket over the top of the bag. We were warm all night in the truck. It really held its heat extremely well. We took water to brush our teeth and made it pretty simple. We had dry foods like cereal bars for breakfast. It was a great experience. The truck ran great. I have brand new Head lights I ordered from Raney's truck parts, I believe they are out of Florida. Even on low beams they shine for miles. So here is what I need in the cab: The cabinet behind the drivers seat was removed by the last owner with a reciprocating saw, he left the top cubby but it does not look good so I need to get a replacement for the whole thing. I also need a ladder, right now I have a 3 step, step ladder but not the best design for the semi. It works but takes up a lot of space. So here is a picture of me and Risk taken by the D.W. we are headed north on 95. The Kyle canyon exit for highway 157 is south of me, we are coming up on Exit 93 for Snow Mountain and we are about 10 mile away from exit 156 Lee Canyon up to the ski resort on Mt. Charleston. Oldriska "Risk" Z Weberhaus is czeck line bread german shepherd. 15. You mentioned the desert in your email, where do you live? As you can see from my screen name I live in Las Vegas. I am a high school biology teacher, so is my wife. Welcome to the forum! Cory Ossana - Vegas Teacher
  16. Dave, You know if you get to Vegas hollar at me. I have to show you the progress on my truck! Have fun and safe travels to you! Later Cory Ossana
  17. That is awesome! I know I will make a trip, a real trip soon, but it just seems there are so many little things I have to do first. I wish I didn't have to work to earn money. LOL!!!!
  18. I just got an email from him he is doing great and funny as ever!
  19. I can't wait to make it to a West Coast Rally some day. Many that go there have come through Vegas and said hello to me. I think many of the people who I talk to on this are really great people and have a lot of knowledge, getting to meet them would be really nice. That goes to Covid, as a teacher I see how it devastates families here in Vegas. I can't wait to get the vaccination! Yes the "D.W." loves it too. I still remember pulling into my Farther-in-laws R.V. spot. After being gone for 4 days down to Florida and back her first words were NOT hey "Glad to see you, how was your trip, nice truck." Instead her very first sentence to me was "That is one big F%*k!@G truck!!!!!" and her eyes were as big as saucers. I thought OH $h!t, I just spent $20,000.00 on this truck and she hates it. Well that was March of 2017, time goes by and now I will have to fight her for the keys to drive it. I need the ladder to get up to the top bunk. With the major mechanical issues all addressed I get to do the fun stuff. One of the big things I want to do is quiet the ride. I saw on a truckers forum they use Hush Matt. Back in my college years I installed car stereos and used Dynmat, looks to be a very similar product. I am trying to figure out what I can put on the engine side of the firewall to help reduce the sound from even coming into the cab to begin with. Then the interior sound proofing, and road noise reduction. I am going to go with a sound dampening spray on paint first, then coat it with Hush Matt. After that the Cab needs a once over, I do not have the drivers side rear cabinet. I also want train horns and to Chrome, paint and wrap the outside with decoration, but first it has to go to Kansas to spend some time with Jack Meyers for a bed installation. Later, Cory Ossana, Vegas Teacher
  20. Well I now have my 780 at home, or home being my father in laws house and he is a little pissy about it, but..... OH WELL, anyway I got it back Friday December 18, new tires and it had been getting worked on monthly since May of 2020. So lots of things done and I kept all of you readers up to date along the way. Well I took it out into Dolley trolley 's territory to the kingdom of Pahrump. It is just shy of 100 miles from Vegas, so it was a nice drive. Me, the "D.W." and the dog went for its maidenesque voyage at 9:00 a.m. went to get 200.00 in diesel at $2.45 per gallon then back home. I was so happy with everything. Truck sits level, brand new Dayton tires, truck rode smooth ran quiet and I even got the wife bend the wheel, I had a hard time getting her to give me back the reins but after a little begging she did. Made it back to Vegas about 12:30. All went well! I hope everybody had a great holiday season! Happy New Year to everybody. Later Cory Ossana

    Bronco Sport

I have a Subaru outback and absolutely love it!!! It is a great car.
  22. I was happy that Steve got on a creeper and went stem to stern and found it to be in good condition but that is the plus of having a good mechanic. Happy Holidays.
