My younger brother drove OTR for many years. When I got my truck he said not to use Blue Beacon and I didn't for a long time, then one year I left the upper Midwest in a snow and ice event and traveled through a lot of slushy roads. I tried to stop at a couple of my prior wash locations, but the timing wasn't right. There was a Blue Beacon very near my destination and I stopped. Told them no "Acid" but apparently the message didn't get through to the ones actually doing the wash. It sure looked nice for a couple of days, but before I left the next spring. I had nothing but a chalk color and it would easily transfer to anything that touched it.

Same thing happened again at a wash location near where my home was built. I'd used it multiple times with no issues. Of course I always said no acid, except for the last time. I've done lots of things to correct and a young man spent hours on the trailer last year at the HDT Rally. I'll probably have them do it again this year.

It didn't fix it all, but at least I can walk by without getting it on my clothing or hands.

It's helpful to follow the team leader over to the control panel and watch him actually push the button to turn off the acid. If they don't do it, you kinda have to be proactive and insist before they get it on your truck. Jay

We had them do our Class C, Class A, and Class B. None were ever extremely dirty since we rarely parked under trees and we had it washed at least twice a year. The Class B only cost $20 so why not?

    Linda

Yes, of course. With that kind of light use and build-up, a little soap and water works magic. And $20??!? Wow! I'm jealous! Of course, they have a lot more work to do on mine, so it's only fair. Jay

I don't remember Blue Beacon using any elbow grease. They sprayed on soapy water then clear water and were done unless you paid for something extra. I never let them wax my rigs because I never felt they were quite clean enough for that but they did a better job than I could do on my own.

The first Class C we rented required us to clean it before returning it. We took it to a truck wash. The rental place wanted to know how we got it so clean.

    Linda

I've been using Blue Beacon for my truck and trailer for decades. If your Class B was relatively clean, they wouldn't need more than pressurized water. However, when you run lots of miles in a variety of environments, it gets really dirty. If they're not sure, they'll ask if it's okay to use a brush, but more often they'll just go ahead with the brushes. I have new paint and I'm not crazy about the brushes, but I do like for my truck to be clean - without the brightener. Jay

Be sure to ask them not to use the Citrus Acid. It ruins a clear coat very quickly.

Just tell them no brightener. They may want to argue with you because it means less elbow grease for them, but it's hard on your polished aluminum, etc. Watch to make sure they got the button on the controller. Jay

Would you be so kind as to list the model of 12 volt pump(s) you are using.  This is a great idea.

There are hundreds of them on Amazon, or your local auto parts or farm supply will have them. Prices are from $10 to hundreds of dollars. I just used an old one I already had to polish my gas tank. Here's a representative one from Amazon. Biltek 12 Volt Fuel Oil Transfer Pump Diesel Kerosene Biodiesel 12V DC 10.5 gpm Pumps https://a.co/d/7QpHAQs Jay

P.S. Also, Harbor Freight has them, but you don't want one of the high volume ones for this project. Carter is probably the classic brand for old hot rodders.. Carter Universal Electric Fuel Pump Automotive Replacement 12V (P4070) https://a.co/d/atOueAO

Did everyone miss the first paragraph of the OP?

"I just had another post here that thought the mobile SKP Forums website on our cell phones cannot be changed back to desktop mode to use an external compact keyboard and a touch-pad or Bluetooth mouse. EZ PZ, here's how with pics. "

    😏

You now know how to switch Escapees Forums to Desktop mode on your phones, how to access the ignore button with one hover/click, and that all you need is a wireless or wired mouse/touchpad to have a cursor to hover.

Actually, I've used a browser on my phone for many years that is permanently set to desktop mode, probably going back to my first Note 4. No need to switch anything or connect anything. It's just always there. That's my happy place. Jay

That seems like a lot of hardware. Wouldn't it just be easier to use a laptop?

I use both the Messenger and Messages apps on my laptop for texting. I can also use Windows to link to my phone although between smart watch and phone having another device ring is just plain annoying.

That was exactly my point. I use my phone for almost everything, but if I need it, I pull out a laptop. I would've enjoyed playing with those bits and pieces when I was much younger, but now I just want to get things done quickly. Plus, I have an obsession with efficiency and minimalism. But of course, to each his own. Jay

  9. I have an add-on keyboard for my tablet, but rarely use it. If I were to add peripherals to my phone, I may as well dig out a laptop. Space is at a premium and so is time. Often I can complete a task on my phone in less time than it would take to pull out and boot up a computer. It helps that I've sideload an ancient version of Swype that works fluidly for me and I'm probably faster on it than on a keyboard. If I'm home and need something more involved, I'll go to my office and use my desktop, but I'm rarely home this time of year. Whatever works for each user. Jay

I have a simple Samsung tablet that I use to find camping spots. It's not connected to the internet. (I downloaded the package a few years back and occasionally log on to update it. But it Is never connected while on the road). Yet it always knows where I am. How is it connected? Who's watching? I can turn the tablet off and back on again way out where there is no cell signal. Yet it still picks me up. Maybe I'm wanted by the FBI! Or maybe the Chinese think I'm important! Or maybe we are all just ignorant of what freedoms we have given away.

It's just calculating the timing differences between the GPS satellites to determine your position. No cell connection needed. It's essentially a passive calculation. Jay

Or you can just hover your cursor over their name in a forum here and a page opens that has

    "Message    Find Content     Ignore"

buttons on the bottom, click ignore and follow the prompts. In this example I hovered my cursor over your name just now in this thread, and that screen pops up, then I just clicked on "Ignore" and you are there.

I'm sure that works on a desktop computer. I rarely use a desktop/notebook computer as I'm generally always on the go and use my phone for virtually everything. These tips may help others, but thanks. Jay

Do they re-angle the rear drive axle to correct U-joint Angles?  those are usually pitched to a off angle for the interaxle drive shaft.

Jack was one of the early RV modifiers to recognize that was an issue that needed to be corrected. I'm 100% he's getting it right. Jay

If you have no connections, ie cell phone or Wi-Fi turned on in your vehicle, how does your navigation work?

Just saying. If your vehicle knows where it is then what other devices are also working without your input?

I have no idea. Just posing a question.

Many navigation devices are freestanding and have all the data needed internally to decode the satellite signals for navigation. No internet connection needed. If you navigate with your phone, it uses its internal cell signal connection for data. Usually the phone isn't used as a hot spot to share the data signal inside the vehicle, so the dashcam wouldn't have an internet connection. Many newer vehicles do have an internal hot spot option available though, if one cares to subscribe to that. Jay

  14. I like the idea and would've like to have those on my truck, but the price is prohibitive. I'll just replace the tires at the five year point. Jay
