  1. I have had National General, Good Sam, for eight years. Renewal with National General $2,722 per year for a 2018 Cardinal 3925 FL. Not full time. Progressive for same coverage $1,820.

    Homebrew

I once saw an RV TV program about a couple that wanted to buy an RV and set it up for home brewing. They got a fiver toy hauler and set it up for brewing beer.
  3. A big factor for towing fivers is overloading the truck. My 2011 F250, CC, long bed, diesel, was rated for 10,000 lbs and my 2019 F350, CC, long bed, diesel, for 14,000 lbs. It can handle a good amount of pin weight from the fiver where as the F250 was almost overloaded.
  4. My current fiver, 2018 Cardinal 3825 FL, was acquired in September of 2018 so I still have CoachNet. I wonder who the new provider is?
  5. Camping World, Good Sam, gives you one year and Forest River gives you CoachNet of a year at no cost.
  6. I have both CoachNet and Good Sam roadside assistance. I have been an Escapee member for 10 years and very much value my membership. I have only used Good Sam roadside assistance with good results and have been told that they use the same tow companies?
  7. I have had banks tell me it was because of the "know your customer" rule.
  8. Not related to full time insurance but my auto policy with Elephant is expiring on July 31st so I thought I would give AARP Hartford a try because they say that they will not cancel you but they where a lot more then Elephant almost $400 more on a one year policy.
  9. Many books and the Escapees Boot Camp is were I would start.
  10. I hope that the East Texas weather in July doesn't scare you off!
  11. Cardinal 2018 3825 FL fifth wheel, $68,000, 2019 F350, CC, long bed, diesel and hitch, $64,000. After that $132,000, other then a electric management system at almost $400, the rest seems inexpensive! Good Luck
  12. Additionally, the ATT internet box works very well in the UP of MI and southeast Texas and points in between. We have been surprised.
  13. No, the new Gen 5 system that we had was slower. When we both had Verizon we couldn't get signal in our house. When I went to ATT we can use that internet box. For many years Hughes was the only option we had for internet because we are very rural. When we go north for the summer we just take it with us for those four months.
  14. I have ATT and the BH has Verizon so we mostly can use then as hotspots and we have been pleased with the speed when we use then. I also have an ATT box that we use at home and also take on the road and it is fast. Cost for box is $60 per month about $5 less them the Hughesnet that we used to use. It is much faster the Hughes.
  15. A number of people that I know have moved into senior living housing after they left the road were they rent or buy the homes or condos.
  16. You should be able to get everything done in a few days as noted above. Texas drivers license are renewed for 6 years and if you are less the 79 years old they can be renewed online every other time so that is for 12 years before you must come in person. Not sure about CDLs? I have been told that you must renew in person each time? We do have RV inspections so you must deal with that. I have been told that SD does not inspect RVs? The cost for annual RV registration for my 41 foot fiver is about $125 in Texas. If you renew online you can tell them that you are out of state and they will let you renew but when you do go to Texas you must have them inspected within a few days.

    Intro

Welcome to the forum and this is a great place to ask questions or seek information. Also there should be a forum for Durando owners that may be helpful to you?
  18. There was one in Elmer and I have hear it has changed names recently? I wouldn't want to spend the winter in an RV is South Jersey.
  19. If they are fixing it under warranty, I would wait until it is fixed before I told anyone anything. A lot of RV manuals clearly state "occasional use only" and they will not want to honor a warranty if lived in fulltime. The time to tell everyone that you full time in it was when you first got it and you should have got one that is for full time use. It will cost more but you should always tell the truth. "Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive" Good Luck
  20. He said fifth wheel not bumper pull. Because 60% of the trucks that tow fivers are overweight, if that is so, doesn't mean that I want to. He was concerned with the TV. If his payload is 1,575 lbs he should not pull a big fiver. I would not pull a fiver with a 1/2 ton pickup unless it was one of those 7 foot wide 20 ft or so fiver like Scamp or Casita. I would not start out being over weight.
  21. Yes at an independent shop. The Ford Dealer, Planet Ford, Humble, TX, would only install one type of hitch. It was a puck type rated for 26,000 lbs and if I remember correctly, 6,500 lbs hitch weight. For $1,800 installed. An independent shop would be a better option.
  22. I have a 7 year old Reese hitch rated for 16,000 lbs and 4,000 hit lbs that I would sell cheap. As for the Ford dealer, I would stay away. They use the puck system not rails and are very expensive. I am near Houston.
  23. Yes, you are on target. There are many who overload the tow vehicle. My pickup truck is rated for 14,000 lbs and I don't think you can pull a large fiver with much less?
  24. The more the merrier. I like competition. I see that they are allowing Sprint and T-Mobile to merge and then there will be three.
