Nuke-E
An older version of this was used in the seminar I did at the HDT rally in Hutchinson last fall, and if you want to see more on cooking this way, I've posted a few write-ups starting here, and there a few more links to other sous vide (and "modern" cooking) resources here. I really like this method because it's not real time-sensitive (if dinner's late it won't be overdone), and the cooker is about the size of a bottle of wine. I sometimes even use the kitchen sink as the cooking container, which definitely makes it a minimalist meal. And by cooking in a plastic bag, there aren't any dishes to do! I'm not sure how long it's going to last, but if you're interested in the Anova cooker with Bluetooth, it's on sale directly from Anova for $129. There's another version with WiFi that's been $10 more (at which point it would seem worthwhile--you could check up on dinner while you're out and about), but it wasn't part of the sale. If you want to read more about either version, here's the Amazon listing with almost 1,000 reviews. I'll be eating a pot roast cooked this way tonight, using one of the recipes from Modernist Cooking Made Easy (and I hope mine tastes as good as their photo looks!): 45' 2004 Showhauler -- VNL300, ISX, FreedomLine -- RVnerds.com -- where I've started to write about what I'm up to Headlight and Fog Light Upgrades http://deepspacelighting.com
Nuke-E
I didn't take a picture of the veggies, but here's what the roast looked like: 45' 2004 Showhauler -- VNL300, ISX, FreedomLine -- RVnerds.com -- where I've started to write about what I'm up to Headlight and Fog Light Upgrades http://deepspacelighting.com
rdickinson
I tried a recipe given me in Vero Beach. Pulled pork....Cheap pork roast,1 can root beer, 6-8 hrs on low in crockpot....That's it.
jkoenig24
Thanks for that link David. I'm in for one! $129 (delivered) is much better than Amazon pricing right now.
prairiegirl
I have been cooking "sous vide" for about five years. The first one I built my self. I got the Anova a little more than a year ago. It does a good job. I hadn't thought of using it for cooking in my RV. I am right now planing my camping kitchen. Since I was a cook, I have a few things that are not on a regular "camping kitchen list" I may add the Anova to my list.
