I had a basement heat pump that only used one compressor for the first 3 months after installing because a "jumper wire" wasn't securely fastened. Sure worked better for the short time it lived after, but I'm much more happy with the mini split I had it replaced with. Knowing the brand of unit is probably more important than the brand of RV. Ray,IN Posted August 23, 2022 Report Share Posted August 23, 2022 If the temperature difference between the thermostat and indoor temperature is less than 4° only #1 compressor will run. If #1 cannot reach/maintain thermostat set temperature #2 compressor turn on. IF you only want to run #1, turn of the 120V breaker that controls the #2 compressor. Note: #1 is the primary compressor and must be running for #2 to run, thus turning off #2 breaker. Do you know the model# of your Coleman Mach 24,000btu unit? Nope, no harm to anything. #1 compressor should maintain set temperature IF you start out in the morning before set temperature is reached.
