Jackalopee

Roger,

I've been having that same issue.  Left turn on trailer doesn't work, until you hit the brakes.  It was a relay in the Jackalopee.  Now it's done it again, so I guess the "used" relay is also bad.

We have 2 circuits and maybe a relay.  Board and all 4 relays in the quad cluster  were replaced in Louisiana.  The Rig hasn't been on the road since its return a year ago last April and has  has less than 4k miles on it. Traced everything back in case rats ate wiring but all is good there.

It's fine to replace things but I want to know what the underlying problem is and fix that.

This is holding up me getting to work and Customs delays at the border won't help.

It took 3 weeks to get a set of cable cutters from Greenlee last March, how long this???

Roger, Henry uses the circuit for a DIY 4 relay adapter as found in the resource guide. Click here for the schematic - go to the bottom of the page and you can open the one for the 4 relay circuit.  Relays can fail but it is unusual unless the manufacturer makes a bad bunch.  I had one set from China that had the internal contacts corrode. They are commonly available BOSCH style relays - same as used in the under CB console fuse panel in the dash.  Failure of any one of the 4 relays can make the circuit fault.   Is the LED in the Jackalope for the left turn signal flashing?  It is also possible for the problem NOT to be in the Jackalope - it can be in the OEM Volvo circuit.  I suggest also using a meter to check the left turn signal input to the converter.  I hope all is well with you.  No new broken bones or cuts.  I miss hooking up with you like we did in Florida 2017.

Thanks Randy,  I found Henry's # on my US phone but had to put a charge on it to bring it back to life.  Just thought of that for no good reason.

Anyway, I spoke to him this afternoon and he wants me and Arnie, the mobile mechanic to be at the truck when I call.  He figures he can walk us thru the problem and come up with a solution.

Can't recall whether it was flashing or not.  I expect to be on it again tomorrow, packing and replacing bearings, checking break away plus plus plus.

He mentioned changing something in the circuitry on upcoming units for some reason.

At the moment he's in New Hampshire I think but will take a call pretty much anytime reasonable.
