Learned a Lesson

Always nice to learn that you don’t know some things and need to leave it to the pros. Took my truck in to J&K Trucking in Crossville while camping at Deer Run for oil change and DOT inspection. I had checked truck over and under back in late March. Long story short, brakes were shot even though appeared good to me. Also found leaking seal.  When mechanic showed me the pads there were hairline cracks on the outside but the inner part of the pad was cracked and crumbling. Hubs were scored. Replaced all four drive hubs and shoes. Thank heavens steers were ok. Mechanic mentioned that under heavy use those pads would eventually have come apart. WOW.  Glad I found and corrected prior to our upcoming trips out west.   Moral:  I get yearly PM (oil, lube) but not DOT inspections but every 2-3 years. Think I’ll go to yearly like annual on an airplane.
