RV fan
Does anyone know the starting and running loads of this model Frigidaire FFTR1222. The only published spec is 6 amps. I am looking at putting one in my right along with Samlex 600 watt pure sine wave inverter. All advice appreciated. Thanks,
oldjohnt
I don't have the specs, but Id venture a pure guess whatever current they "publish" is running NOT short term starting surge amps. Also, if ????? it did indeed draw 6 running amps at 120 volts, that alone is 720 watts and when you figure an inverter also has to have enough momentary surge capacity to START the compressor (may be 4 to 6 times running current) A 600 WATT INVERTER WONT DO THE JOB. If you knew the actual starting surge and running amps then you can predict whether or not an x watt inverter will work. FWIW my small dorm size Haier fridge draws 1 to 2 amps and its tiny, so a larger fridge (subject to size) might draw 6 amps BUT I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT YOURS ACTUALLY DRAWS Best I can do absent any hard specs. If anyone finds the actual amps, then I can provide better advice John T
RV fan
Thanks, I will call mfr on Monday and see if I can get the actual numbers
oldjohnt
RV Fan, if these links and manuals are correct for your FFTR1222 (NO idea, NO Warranty) http://b2b.frigidaire.com/support/ResultsPage.asp?strModel=FFTR1222&User=&Search=Search ftp://ftp.electrolux-na.com/ProdInfo_PDF/Anderson/242301700.pdf IT ONLY DRAWS 0.8 to 1.5 amps (180 watts at 1.5 amps) THEREFORE if that's correct (no warranty) your 600 Watt PSW Inverter "should" work iffffffffffffffff it has sufficient surge capacity and you have big enough wires from it to batteries and all else is correct and sufficient. Best I can do John T
Bill Joyce
Buy a Kill-A-Watt and measure it yourself, they are under $20 at Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/. An alternative, which I own, is the TS-836A for $16 - https://www.amazon.com/TS-836A-Energy-Voltage-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B00E945SJG/. You will find one of these useful for more than just finding out how much power the fridge uses. 2004 40' Newmar Dutch Star DP towing an AWD 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid, Fulltimer July 2003 to October 2018, Parttimer now. jcussen
Have found from many experiments, the general rule is: fridge over 8 cf, 1000 watt minimum. under 8 cf 600 watt minimum. Foretravel 40ft tag 500hp Cummins ISM 1455 watts on the roof, 600 a/h's lithium in the basement.
RV fan
@John T, Thank you, that is the tech data sheet I was looking for. That range is approx what I think I saw posted somewhere in the past. I will still call the mfr tomorrow to see what they say. The inverter I am looking at has a 1200 watt surge capacity. If the 6A draw (720W) posted in the generic specs for the refer then I should be OK. Refer is due in late next week or possibly as late as 10/27/16. I'll keep this thread posted. Thank you, @Bill J. Thank you for your response. I think I will invest in one of those, I can see the value in one. @jcussen, Thank you for the info. I'm hoping this refer has efficient motor controls to slowly ramp up/down the power, along with an efficient motor/compressor.
