slackercruster
I have a cassette toilet in my truck camper. The rinse water gets moldy in a few days and shoots black mold chunks out of the rinse water. Is there something I can add to the rinse water tank to keep the mold down? This is the kind of toilet I have. http://www.thetford.com/product/c402c-cassette/ Thanks
lasttruck
When we used the water from the flush tank, we added a small amount of toilet chemical to the water. Even so, after a few weeks of non-use, the black junk would appear. We found that using a spray bottle to "flush" the toilet used much less water and filled the cassette slower. Newt
Did you read the owners manual? Rotate the waterfill funnel outwards, remove the cap and place theextension on the waterfill funnel. Add the stated amount ofThetford fresh water additive to the water tank. This ensures a betterand cleaner flush and keeps the water in the flush tank fresh. skp51443
A bit of bleach might work too, you'll have to add more over time if the toilet sits for long periods of time with water in it. slackercruster
Nope, didn't read it. Thanks for the help. Will try some additives. Wonder why that stuff gets so moldy. It would be terrible if the RV's fresh water tank was like that.
skp51443
It can get pretty nasty in the fresh tank too once the chlorine is used up, adding fresh water on a regular basis or topping up the chlorine if unused for long periods help keep the grunge down. A lot of folks also add a sanitize session once or twice a year where they flush the whole RV water system to knock out any goo growing in there. SWharton
Newt, Some people never even heard the word sanitize before............................. Rather than bleach(hate the after taste and rinsing with baking soda doesn't help enough), we have switched to swimming pool shock. No residual taste.
