Travel on the Lincoln Highway

We would like to travel from Joliet Illinois to Warsaw Indiana on US 30 then up to Goshen for the FROG rally. Basically tired of the 80/90/94 route and have been reading about construction delays this year.

Would like to hear the pros and cons about this route and other suggestions of other routes.

We travel US30 all the time. From Joliet is slow, lots of areas that are only 35mph and traffic lights and the area south of Gary is really not very nice.We only drove that part once. We pick up it up by dropping down via I65 to Merrysville (exit 253.)

Last time we traveled it was 2 summers ago and there was lots of paving being done in that area so it should be in great shape. It a nice drive. You can bypass towns or check some out along the way.

We drove much of the Lincoln just last July from Elkhart into Wyoming. As others have said it is slow, but in my opinion it is worth the time. We consistently try to stay off the interstates to see as much of real American as we can.
