Dennis M
Last Thursday was truck maintenance day. Up to Flying J in Denver to fill up - 242 gallons, yikes! - then SpeedCo for oil, lube and filters, then Blue Beacon for a wash. The tech at Speedco spotted a disintegrating bushing on the rear torsion bar - the one between the top of the differential and the right frame rail. So I called Volvo of Denver late Thursday afternoon and Jake said "Bring it in now!". I already had an appointment at SafeLite first thing Friday morning to have a windshield chip repaired so I did not get it to the Volvo dealer until mid-day Friday. Asked them to check the belts which have been squealing, and replace the leaky rear leveling valve as well as the torsion bar. Saturday morning they called and said the had found a bad fan clutch while changing the belts, so I had them replace that as well. Now here is the good part - early Saturday evening they called, truck is done! Not only did they have all the needed parts in stock (first time that ever happened!), but they completed the repair in a little over 24 hours on a Friday and Saturday! Icing on the cake was the most detailed repair order I ever saw - and I spent 40 years in the auto and machinery repair business! The only vehicles in their lot were Volvo tractors, HDTs are all they do and they seem to know their stuff. I've been to Volvo dealers where they do more light and medium duty stuff than HDTs. They are even open Sunday so I was able too pick the truck up Sunday morning. We are in Denver at least twice a year, so this will be my new go to dealer for scheduled repairs! So if you need repairs around Denver call Jake at Volvo of Denver. They are open 7 AM to midnight during the week and 7 to 7 on weekends! SuiteSuccess
Dennis, Not to hijack but what were the symptoms that made them say your fan clutch was bad? I have a thread going about mine might be bad. 2006 Volvo 780 "Hoss" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift Bed Build by "JW Morgan's Custom Welding" 2017 DRV 39DBRS3 2013 Smart Passion Coupe "Itty Bitty" "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. Sinbad5024
That sure is a change from what has been posted here before. Glad you had good service. Rod I agree, their reviews on other sites are not very good, so this is a nice change. We just completed (almost) the purchase of our truck from them. They need to correct the spelling on our last name on the paperwork. The sales side has been very good, hopefully they are getting the service side going in the correct direction. 2007 Volvo VNL 780 "Vlad" 2008 Dutchmen Grand Junction 34QRL
Jack Mayer
Perhaps management and service has changed at Volvo Denver. But I'm very skeptical....and also very glad you had a good experience, Dennis. That service center has such a bad reputation that I know of at least one fleet in Co Springs that TOW their trucks to Salina, KS for major jobs. And their parts dept is so crippled that the mechanic I use in the Springs won't even call them any more. Personally, I would not take a chance on them unless I had to....but it is good that you had a good experience. FMI-5
Hey Dennis! This is the Jake you dealt with over at Volvo of Denver. I wanted to take the time and thank you for the kind words myself. If you ever need any future repairs, I hope you give me a call again sir. I always enjoy feedback about my performance from customers. That is the only way to gauge my performance! Again, thank you and I hope I do not have to see your truck anytime soon, but if it needs anything at all give me a shout. Dennis M
Problem with the fan clutch was stripped studs & nuts retaining the fan that could not be removed without cutting them off. Probably the ham-handed guy that last changed the belts. Jake - we are usually in Denver 2 or 3 times a year, so I may be back for scheduled maintenance.
